I bet quite a few of the cast got/gave AIDS making that movie.

I thought the same thing!

Any Miyazaki fans on here? The Boy and the Heron is now streaming on Max. I thought it was very good, although the story was more difficult to follow than some of his others

This movie is just so GOOD. It has English and Mandarin subtitles as I believe this is a film from Thailand. I went to watch it last night (The Big AMC in Times Square has a good amount of foreign films due to having 25 screens.) and this was so very well done. Watching the relationship between a grandmother and grandson develop while she is dealing with a terminal illness is so poignant.

This film better make it to the final group of international films during awards season next year. I believe this is on Netflix as well so please watch it if you have some time to do so. I definitely want to see it again. The director, Pat Boonnitipat, needs to win a best director for this one. The grandmother was so funny yet amazing in her role. The sponge bath scene was a really hilarious moment in this film because of the conversation.

No one is going to admit they went to see Am I Racist???

Strip Tease with Demi popped up on Prime tonight.   I thought why not.  I’ll give it a look

15 minutes in right now. Demi looks amazing.  She’s a total 10.  But this movie is hot garbage. It makes Roadhouse look like a Scorsese masterpiece.

I get why this movie was made in the absence of internet porn.  But damn, we were hurting for skin flicks back in the day.

Ok 43 minutes in is worth it.

Damn!  Demi has some Carrie Underwood thighs.  Damn!

“Transformers One.” It’s the origin story of the Autobots that’s been missing. The prequel that delivers you from the early friendship between Orion Pax and Megatron to the war between Autobots and Decepticons. Animation was a concern going in, but it is at or near the top of the franchise for me. We left the theater ready for the future stories. If you’re a Transformers geek, you’ll love it.

The Revenant (2015). I’ve never seen it until today.

Pretty intense movie, seemed about 15 minutes too long in the middle. Leo was great but it was Tom Hardy for me who stole the show as Fitzgerald.

I have to deal with the  nutbag, extremist crazy women in the mental health advocacy community every week.

So, I am going to see this film tonight at 7:45 after pounding some drinks at Mesero at the EVO movie theater in Addison.

I will report back.

Speaking of Demi - just got out of The Substance. That was the wildest shit I’ve seen in the theater in years. If you are in to body horror at all - it’s a must see.

Demi looks great and Margaret Qualley - good lord. Andie McDowell’s daughter.

Darkman (1990)

It's like a Batman movie that becomes Robocop that ends up being a great Raimi movie.

Never seen it before.  But it was like going back in time.

Ooooh. Sounds like something up my alley.

Darkman was excellent. Early Raimi. They should have gone with Bruce Campbell (although he made a cameo).

Never cared much for Jimmy Stewart but Mr Smith Goes to Washington is good.

Jimmy Stewart is great. If you like Mr. Smith, check out Destry Rides Again. Made them back to back. He's one of my favorite western stars.

Field of Dreams was on last night. I tuned in right as he was knocking on Terrance Mann’s door.
I don’t care that it’s dated, formulaic, sappy, and all the other criticisms. I love it, I watched it, and I loved it again.

I never “got” that movie. But I’ll watch Bull Durham every time it’s on.

Agree on Bull Durham. It’s my favorite of the two, noting that they are totally different movies.
Crash and Nuke are two of the best characters in all of film.

I'm indifferent towards it but I catch myself watching it when I come across it on tv.  BD is outstanding.

Tanner & Engleberg say hey.

I love him in anything, but especially Harvey and The Philadelphia Story. He should've won the Oscar for Mr. Smith and I think he won it for Philadelphia Story because they fucked up by not giving it to him for Mr. Smith. Obviously I love It's a Wonderful Life, too.

Go watch Anatomy of a Murder. He’s great but holy shit Lee Remick is as hot as they come.

I posted about it in the thread for the movie. Just absolute nightmare fuel that last half hour to 45 minutes. Absolutely bonkers movie experience. Must see movie though.

Ok didn’t quite check the user I was responding to. So maybe just consider this a psa for most of the rest of surly.

Willie and Me (2024) German chick obsessed with Willie Nelson sells husband's Porsche, burns down the kitchen and heads off to watch Willie's final concert. Not great, but the soundtrack is nothing but Willie.

I appreciate hot, regardless of gender.

Saw Almost Famous (2000) for the first time after hearing it was great and a cult classic to watch for many, many years.

It was pretty cool.

I've been going on a Shudder binge.

Speak No Evil - it's fucked up. It nails despair pretty damn well.

Eden Park - gang of shit heads terrorizing a couple camping.

Some tough moments.

As an Aubrey Plaza enthusiast, I went and saw My Old Ass.  It was really good.  She's not in it much, but Maisy Stella was fantastic.  She's a great screen presence and I hope she acts more, as I think she's a singer that has just been on Nashville.  She's got a few things lined up, so hope it works out.  Due to personal matters, it was really affecting for me.  I was crying like a baby by the end.  It probably won't be as affective on you guys, but it's still a great story about growing up and looking forward to the adventure of adulthood, wherever it takes you.

My favorite movie.  I thought it was fine when I first saw it, but it is one of the most rewatchable movies ever.  It gets better with time.  So many great scenes.

Just because you have an unhealthy fixation on Booger and Poindexter doesn't mean I'm wrong.

Both of those are great. I just rewatched Speak No Evil in preparation for the new one.

I saw Snack Shack is streaming on Amazon. It’s one of my favorite movies I’ve watched in the last year.

Watching Ordinary People now.  It won one or two Oscars in 1980.  I recall it was Robert Redford’s directing debut.  I’ve always loved this film.  I was a freshman at UT, away from home for the first time in my life, and probably one of the first films that I was interested in that tried to tackle some difficult themes.  MTM was a total bitch.  She just couldn’t get over the death of her favourite son and took it out on the one that survived.

Rewatched Sicario for no real reason. So good. It’s really interesting how they misdirect you on who the protagonist is.

They tried to make Emily Blunt look like crap and she still looked great.

I only got around to Sicario about 6 months ago and then watched the sequel last night.  I think the original is the better movie but I enjoyed them both.

Questions about Day of the Soldado;  I never understood why Grazer's guys after "Finding her" at the stash house outside of Brownsville drove her back into Mexico instead of flying her.  Why?   Then, once she ran away during the ambush Alejandro goes after her but the decision is then made to whack Alejandro and Isabel?

Seemed like sloppy writing/plot design.  They were trying to show how wishy-washy U.S. policy is but I had a hard time thinking that Grazer would have killed Alejandro.

And then go watch Rear Window with Grace Kelly.   Oh my.

Sheridan movies are ate up with plot holes.  In Sicario they went to a migrant detention place and just started asking people where the tunnel was?  And found the guys who knew?  K.

Doesn't matter when the rest of the movie is awesome (ie, TDK).

Sorry about that.  But it’s not a huge spoiler.  It’s obvious from the first 5 minutes of the movie.

Watched The Bikeriders on a flight. Austin Butler and Tom Hardy. It was watchable, elements of Goodfellas and Almost Famous. Not great not bad.

The Thing (1982)

great cast, story and suspense hold up well(some of the creature effects don’t show great in HD).

the dog(or handlers) deserve a supporting actor oscar.  The scene where the dog walks down the hall to its first victim is incredibly paced and expressive by a…dog.  Chilling.

Yeah that’s my all time favorite horror movie. The prequel is not as good.

The blood test scene is fantastic.
