Emotional as hell. I don't want to read about it for fear of the explanation being something I can understand. It felt like deja vu, and maybe mortality or immortality. No words. Where do you get your gummies?

Maybe it's my age but I just accepted that it was some kind of allegory or metaphor or something or other and it really got my brain, and my head, and my mind going. The imagery was really beautiful and frightening at the same time. Plus the cat reminded me of our little minpin dog.

April 12Apr 12 Jersey Boys. The guy that portrays Valli has some serious pipes. Vincent Piazza is great in everything. I wish Walken was in it more. Gyp DeCarlo was an interesting cat.
April 13Apr 13 Slingshot (2024). Space madness. Directors are really overdoing the hallucinated alt realities. It's starting to seem like an excuse to show things that don't fit into the plot.
April 13Apr 13 The Proposal - only redeeming aspect was the bathroom scene with naked Sandy trying cover herself up. Good Lord, that figure.
April 13Apr 13 The Long Goodbye (1968) highly recommended Like a date on a perfect Spring night with a good-looking girl where everything goes better than expected. Robert Altman directed, just right all around with Elliot Gould as PI Philip Marlowe and Sterling Hayden, MLB Jim Bouton, the lovely lithe, bronzed and blonde Nina Van Pallandt (still alive!), a cast of good fits and an orange tabby cat 🐈 who stole the show. Music works, too.
April 14Apr 14 Just watched back to back on TCM On The Waterfront In The Heat Of The Night Rod Steiger is incredible and Sidney Poitier is spectacular.
April 15Apr 15 Quite a different movie than what Steamboat just watched. This never fails to make me laugh. It’s just pure silliness. Also, Kristine DeBell was extremely cute even a few years after her film debut in the porno Alice In Wonderland and her being the cover model for Playboy in April 1976.
April 15Apr 15 Started following so horror movie dude on instagram and he gave his list of 5 underrated movies you need to seeThe Midnight Meat Train Porn name caught my attention so went with it 2008 with Bradley Cooper, Vinnie Jones, Leslie BibbMay never ride the subway ever again lol
April 15Apr 15 shooter. now this is a popcorn flick. most of the people around here have bastardized the term “popcorn flick” to simply refer to every terrible, unwatchable action movie, but this one actually meets the definition. it’s cheesier than hell (the two main characters are nick memphis and bob lee swagger? everyone in the movie besides markie mark has a deep south or appalachian accent? the hot chick speaks like a ranch hand from the late 19th century? so many unintentional laugh out loud moments), but the story is fun enough and interesting enough to keep you going. it’s a good movie to throw on tv on a sunday afternoon.

April 16Apr 16 Another of that dudes suggestions....The Collector. Meat murder train was better. This does have a Saw vibe to it though
April 17Apr 17 Air. Thought it was pretty good not sure how accurate it was but usual good performances from Damon, Bateman, Affleck and even Chris Tucker.

He isn't straight horror, but he promotes a lot of horror ones..... jeffrauseo I am in the middle of watching this gem from 1995 lmao that has a weird ass cast. Clint Howard creepy as fuck, Steve Garvey, Jan-Michael Vincent, fucking Doug Llewellyn from People's Court, Lee Majors II....yes II not Lee Majors.

April 17Apr 17 A few VERY different ones: Chinatown - I read a book a few months ago about Robert Evans, Chinatown and the undoing of "Old Hollywood". That era fascinates me. I hadn't seen the movie in probably 20 years and it didn't speak to me at the time, so I went back to it. This may be a controversial opinion, but this movie is damn good. Definitely better than any movie about water rights has any right to be. Nicholson in KING mode. Drop - Had good reviews, so gave it a shot. Really enjoyed it for what it is. Definitely a throw back to the 50 movies like this in the 90's. Some of the tech stuff was a little clunky, but the tension builds well and it moves at a good clip. Very Hitchcockian feel. Megan Fahy is great and I hope she gets more shots. Sort of a random thought, but the opening had a very classic opening credits sequence that has gone out of style. The opening credits for something like Fight Club is still seared into my memory and I miss those. Magnolia - I started a PTA rewatch and got to this one. I don't think I have seen it since the theaters. It is still overlong and confounding in parts, but there is so much good in there. Easily the best performance of Cruise's career. The close of that section is just devastating. He could have easily cut the quiz show parts, and possibly Julianne Moore (bless her) and saved time. I love that late 90's Aimee Mann era and her songs fit so neatly with the movie. It is crazy that a 29 YO PTA was able to so clearly convey regret and the resulting pain from the actions of parents. A worthwhile near miss.

April 18Apr 18 Watched Number 24 on Netflix on my Dad's recommendation. Outstanding movie about the Norwegian resistance during WWII. It's a Norwegian film so you can watch it dubbed in English or Norwegian with English subtitles. I watched it with the subtitles. Some really strong performances by the actors.
April 18Apr 18 Once Upon a Time in the West seems to play every other day on HDNet channel, such a classic and I’m not much of a Western fan.
April 19Apr 19 Working my way through some old noir movies. The Third Man tonight. Really enjoyed it. Vienna was the best character imo
April 19Apr 19 I just watched Grease with my Mom while visiting her for her birthday. She used to watch it all the time when I was a kid. I’ve probably seen it 20 times but I never actually saw the opening scene where Danny and Sandy are together on the beach. Mom always had me on snack duty at the beginning, so I just thought the movie opened with the cartoon music scene. The movie actually made a whole lot more sense now instead of just piecing the romance together from the songs. I feel kinda stupid but my Mom was so happy thinking I was genuinely interested in the movie after all this time.

April 21Apr 21 The Order - Jude Law in an early-80s FBI crime thriller about investigating some white supremacists in Washington state. Based on a true story and really well done. It looks and sounds great, great music, and Law plays a great grizzled FBI veteran. It’s on Hulu.

April 25Apr 25 "Black Death," a horror-ish adjacent film I'd never heard of from 2010, streaming on HBO. Really good flick with a strong A24 vibe, ending, and all that. Stars Sean Bean of protecting the wee little Hobbits fame, Catrice van Houten of GoT Red Witch fame, and Eddie Redmayne of "Fantastic Beasts" fame. All around good movie that's kinda smart in its twists.
April 25Apr 25 I really enjoyed it. I don't want to say anything about the plot, other than it is great. If you have a great TV like an OLED then you will really appreciate the colors. It popped up on my prime feed. The trailer said " from the makers of Late Night with the Devil" , which was very good.... Oh yeah, the Marlin is in a lot of scenes. It's my favorite looking gun.
