May 30May 30 The Order is pretty, pretty good. Jude Law plays a FBI agent trying to take down a white supremacist bank robbery crew in Idaho in the 80’s. Disney + and Hulu. Edited May 30May 30 by billfromlaketravis
May 30May 30 Eight Men Out. good movie. easy to watch. i miss the feeling of 80’s and 90’s movies when everything didn’t have to be hyperreal and overly stylized. just good dialogue, storytelling, and acting.
May 30May 30 Bring Her Back was intense and terrifying. Back to back horror releases with Sinners is as good as I can remember.

May 31May 31 All The Right Moves. Craig T. Nelson should have taken the safety. Tom Cruise and Sheldon Cooper ended up at the same school. Good stuff.

May 31May 31 Couldn’t stay up to watch all of it(old) but Cold Turkey was on. Hadn’t watched it in ages.
June 1Jun 1 Warfare It’s about a mission in Iraq and really odd. The movie really lets you see how war can be, but it kind of felt pointless (you don’t get why they are in the mission). Amazing editing, cinematography and sound.

The acting was great, especially Sally Hawkins (of course) and the kid who played Oliver. Some nitpicky thoughts/questions below. Spoiler I wish we'd gotten more background on the ritual and the specifics around it, particularly regarding the "angel" that Oliver was...hosting? I get that he was supposed to consume Cathy's body, but why was she making him wait, when Cathy's body was in the freezer? To make sure that Piper would be the right host body for Cathy when she was reborn? And speaking of Cathy's body, how did she even have it? It wasn't a secret that she was dead, right? How was Oliver/Connor even alive once he left the circle and the rescuers found him? Wasn't he eating knives and plates and wood and stuff? And a very random question, but where was Piper's mom? Did they mention her dying or something?

June 2Jun 2 My son told me to watch Venom with him last night. It was fun. Tom Hardy carries the movie.
June 2Jun 2 Somehow, I had never seen Interstellar. Wife andI watched it last night. There is a lot to process in that movie and it's musically and visually strong to quite strong. I really enjoyed it; I probably will have to rewatch it. Edited June 2Jun 2 by Surly Bevo
June 2Jun 2 King of New York Interesting flick, kinda dumb but entertaining. Good early 90s prime Christopher Walken. And LARRY Fishburne.

June 2Jun 2 Nonnas last night. Enjoyed it. 6-Triple8. Also enjoyed it very much, albeit an entirely different tone than the previous evening.

June 3Jun 3 In Winter Park, CO. 50 degrees, rainy. Multiple couples. Wives are hungover. Working jigsaw puzzles. Drinking cold beer. The Fugitive Shawshank (tonight) Die Hard not a bad day of vacation.
June 4Jun 4 It's interesting to watch this with people who saw Christmas Vacation first. Should I show them European Vacation? Edited June 4Jun 4 by mdmost

And this a very good film that is not well known that he is also very good in…. Damn. Looks like the basic plot beginning of The Bourne Identity with a stunning female supporting cast: George Voskovec could be portraying my face when I saw this. Garner was great. As the kids say these days, "in!"
June 4Jun 4 The Working Man. Another version of Beekeeper, Transporter etc. It’s the same schtick repeated for Statham. He buzzed through 50+ guys without a scratch. It’s tired.

June 6Jun 6 The Accountant 2 Ben Affleck's character in the second movie for some reason starts talking like Rainman. He was a real character in the first movie. Now he's a cartoon. And for some reason they injected a lot Marvel type humor in this one. It was almost unwatchable.
June 6Jun 6 Wild Robot. I thought it would be better than it was. Thought it was going to be a grittier or better Wall-E, but was inferior in all respects.

June 6Jun 6 The Exorcism of God - not a clue on what I’m watching. I’m thinking that may be “Geoffrey” from Fresh Prince in this. Edited June 6Jun 6 by Underdog

June 8Jun 8 Encino man with a current teenager nephew. “This is what passed for comedy in the 90’s bro?” Was the reoccurring theme of feedback along with thinking Pauly Shore’s character was gay. It made me think, back then we didn’t really have mainstream gay characters in mainstream movies and they were just whacky. If encino man was made today, maybe Stoney is a gay highschool supporting character and not just “zesty” as the kids say.
June 9Jun 9 Just saw and loved this. I read the short story back when the book came out and thought it was fine, but the movie does a great job of bringing it to life. It was a bit on the nose with the central theme (although it's fair to assume we're a nation of idiots who need to be beaten over the head with the point to get it) but still a lovely film. And if you're a Mike Flanagan fan, a ton of his mainstay actors make cameos.
June 9Jun 9 I made a mediocre escape from The Great Escape. I love that generation of actors but this film did not have 3 hours of content.
June 9Jun 9 The Place of No Words Not sure what to say about it but its beautifully shot, hits every emotion, and it was just so simply done. I dont have kids but if you do this one may bring the allergies. Just an incredible performance by a small boy.

June 9Jun 9 Hilarious dark comedy. If you saw the first, this follows it perfectly. If you haven’t seen the first watch it.

June 9Jun 9 Four Seasons (1981): Alan Alda movie about three couples in their mid-40s. We watched it last night after watching the Four Seasons (2025) series, which was a retelling of the movie. The movie was okay with a strong storyline. The Tina Fey written series was much better - mainly because the eight hour series allowed for better character development and didn't seem as rushed.
