December 6Dec 6 TDA was mostly about Lawrence, KS and I think a lot of us were pretty cool with that.
December 9Dec 9 sorry, baby. streaming on HBO. Odd to say this about a movie centered around a heavy topic, but I found this movie really funny and at times a delight to watch. One of my favorite scripts of the year.
December 10Dec 10 Anyone tried to watch a movie on Tubi recently? Sweet jesus, their ads are prolific. Watched this last night 'cause it's 81 minutes, & the blonde is hot. Deadly Games It is predictably not good.
December 10Dec 10 Ex Machina Not only does it hold up, it basically predicts our inevitable dystopia future.

December 14Dec 14 The Baltimorons, A Christmas Love Story Excellent independent film. Masterfull character development and interaction. On Prime.
December 15Dec 15 Watched Bang Bang on a flight. Tim Blake Nelson as a washed up fighter. Pretty pretty good. https://youtu.be/uQkZDR6lV5U?si=an337Fd5519KbCxl
December 16Dec 16 Saw "Hamnet" earlier. Wow, was I a blubbering mess for much of the last hour. The first half is pretty boring, but the back half was very good and wrenching. Wonderful last 15-20 minutes. I don't think it's good enough to win Oscars (other than probably Jessie Buckley who is terrific), but it would be a worthy Best Picture nominee.

December 17Dec 17 About Time for maybe the 5th time. If movies with themes about Father/Son relationships get to you - no way it’s not getting dusty.

December 17Dec 17 Any of y'all do Letterboxd? I've watched 114 movies so far this year (including rewatches). Latest one being LEE (2023) (on Hulu). About the wartime Vogue photographer Lee Miller (played by Kate Winslet and her tits). Good performance from Winslet, and other strong actors in the cast with not much to do: Marion Cotillard, Aleksander Skaarsgard, Josh O'Connor. Oh, and Andy Samberg. But the movie lacked any real tension or compelling drama. An interesting historical story, but pretty meh as a narrative film. Edited December 17Dec 17 by LonghornSean

December 18Dec 18 Saw Kill Bill:The Whole Bloody Affair today at the theater. Best I can tell, the only real addition was another anime story in O-Ren's backstory. I don't have much to add about a Tarantino movie that's been picked over for 20 years. It still rips and was worthy of 4+ hours of my time. I just checked my Letterbox and I have logged 133 since I opened the account in February. JustinSmith82 if you're interested in adding

I think I watch a fair amount of movies because I watch about 100 new releases and 50 or so older movies per year. Then I see shit like this and just feel bad. prsanders on Letterboxd
December 19Dec 19 Rewatched Shutter Island for some reason. That is a weird movie. Definitely not my favorite Scorcese.

I had not seen the movie since I was a kid when we rented it at a video store. The scene where Candy drives the wrong way and they are sitting on the trunk watching the car burn had me crying laughing. I don’t know why, but that got me the most. Candy and Martin together was just a great pairing. Martin cussing out the woman at the rental car counter was hilarious as well. Beautiful movie. I can recite basically the whole movie. Top 1 movie for me
Sunday at 01:09 AM4 days Grumpy Old Men. We laughed out ass off in college and I still do. These both kill me.
Monday at 03:04 PM2 days Finally got around to Killers of the Flower Moon. Wow. The cameo by Scorsese got me at the end.
