And, aside from scenes with Q, they got away from any real spycraft that the earlier movies had.
September 15, 20205 yr Ah..Live and Let Die and introduction of sheriff JW Pepper. He was so good he got to come back in The Man with the Golden Gun. Seriously, though I'd play strip poker with Solitaire anytime.

September 15, 20205 yr Don't forget Un-cola guy. Crisp & clean with no caffeine. Ah ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaaa!

I guess since I am typing, I might as well mention I'm looking forward to the upcoming Kang The Conqueror (being that I just rewatched Ant-Man... Also, did anyone ever think of the fact that the misses could live in the tiny city & be married to VonDoom after all that time away from her real life..?
September 16, 20205 yr Written on the Wind (1956) Douglas Sirk technicolor melodrama. Robert Stack over the top and Rock Hudson mopping around. Dorothy Malone's legs the best thing in it.
September 16, 20205 yr Pump Up The Volume. Samantha Mathis was the perfect art school girlfriend/alternative girl of the early 90s.
September 17, 20205 yr Cool little low budget movie with no one you've ever heard of, free on Prime. Joe Bob sez check it out.
September 17, 20205 yr Finally had the chance to watch this the whole way through. It was on ShowtimeFamily I believe. It was good. A true story as well.
September 17, 20205 yr Landed on this movie, streaming on Prime - good. got me on a "Troubles" kick Good Good.
September 17, 20205 yr Resuming my Bond marathon again and moved onto 1973's Live and Let Die - the first one with Roger Moore, in New Orleans.... couldn't make it past half way. it was that bad. i dont know how this franchise continued after thatRoger Moore was my Bond. I always thought of them as silly movies. Later on as I saw other bond films I realized that some took the character seriously. The 911’s chase scene in For Your Eyes Only was the greatest thing I had ever seen at that point.
September 19, 20205 yr Marnie (1964) I liked it. Sean Connery was great, and the creepy, behind the scenes, story about Hitchcock abusing Tippi the actress offscreen while Connery was abusing her onscreen ads a bit of...creepiness. Above average Hitchcock for someone who still hasn't warmed to Hitchcock.
September 19, 20205 yr African Treasure (1954). Bomba the Jungle Boy has to save a Mexican Hottie’s dad from unscrupulous diamond thieves. According to IMDB there were a dozen Bomba movies starting the kid who played Boy in the old Tarzan movies. It’s exactly like Tarzan even down to the chimp sidekick. Reminded me of the old movies that used to play on one of the San Antonio stations on Saturday afternoons.
September 20, 20205 yr Casino Royale (2006). Chock full pf plot holes, and the poker scenes are abhorrent. But everything else is great. Not as good as Skyfall or 2-3 of Connery's films, but great just the same.

September 20, 20205 yr Broken Blossoms (1919) D.W. Griffith flick. Had some cool names for bands (The Jackies/Yellow Man) and the lead villain was the great Donald Crisp, the world's best Dad (National Velvet/How Green Was My Valley). Guy had a very long and interesting life. But no. Film school stuff..

September 23, 20205 yr Double-dipped ‘Best in Show’ and An Mighty Wind’. Been years since I watched either. Still greatness

September 23, 20205 yr You want me to strike it?People don’t like to have fire poked, poked in their noses. My ranking:1. Best In Show2. Waiting for Guffman3. A Mighty Wind (But I freaking love the soundtrack, Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara are always magic together).4. For Your Consideration Haven’t seen Spinal Tap in so long, not sure where to put that one. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
September 23, 20205 yr Christopher Guest, Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, and Michael McKean are a collective gift from the Comedy Gods. Waiting for Guffman is a Top 5 greatest comedy of all time, fight me.
September 23, 20205 yr The Bookshop - A widower moves to a small town in England and wants to open a bookshop. Local rich lady wants the building for the bookshop to be an arts center. This movie scratches the surface on a lot of themes, but doesn't do a deep dive on any of them. It's pleasant enough, but doesn't really hit the homerun that it seems like it should (or could) be delivering.
September 24, 20205 yr Their Finest (2016) Gemma Arterton, Sam Claflin, Bill Nighly. Set in the early days of the London Blitz the Propaganda Ministry needs a film to lift British spirits. Arterton is hired to write "the slop" (female dialogue). Well made period flick. Edited September 24, 20205 yr by RPM
September 24, 20205 yr Cave of the Yellow Dog (2005). Need to lower your BP by 20 or 30 top and bottom? Sit back and drink in this beautiful, simple tale, showing how for a family of young Mongolian nomads, life has changed very little in hundreds of years. And btw, the Chinese restaurant scene in Waiting for Guffman is one of the most spit-out-whatever-is-in-your-mouth funny scenes ever. Thank you, Christopher Guest and ensemble, for the whole yuckumentsry series. You hear that? "That whole thing."

September 27, 20205 yr Gone Girl. As great as I remember. A great movie gets EVERYTHING right. Cast, characters, dialogue, score. Everything. Do all that right and the plot can be whatever you want. In this case the plot is a total mindfuck. So it has that too. ETA From top to bottom the casting was perfect. Creapy Doogie Howser, Ben Afleck acting like...well Ben Afleck is in real life. And Tyler Perry. Who knew he had it in him? Edited September 27, 20205 yr by Parliament

September 27, 20205 yr Quantum of Solace, and I just don't get the hate for this thing. They say the plot is fantastical, but study the history of central South America, and you'll see things crazier than a plan to control water, or a luxury hotel in the desert. The villain is no less sinister than many of his predecessors.

September 27, 20205 yr Judy is on Hulu. I watched it last night to support a Texas Ex, Renee Zellweger. It was fine, but I’m not sure why she won the Oscar. Pretty ho hum performance. I say this because Renee can’t sing like Judy Garland. Very few can. I’m sure it was an ego thing, but they should have dubbed the singing performances. The best scene was when Judy goes home with some longtime fans for a late dinner. Is was touching that she meant that much to people. I’m also not sure what the movie is trying to say? Judy Garland was broke at the end of her life and it kind of sucked she couldn’t stay with her kids? They barely scratched the surface on her addiction issues.
September 28, 20205 yr Got on another horror comedy kick. Obvious recommendations there are Tucker and Dale vs Evil and... Ready or Not I think you could say falls in that category. I watched Snatchers on Hulu, which is probably a B but made me laugh a lot. Maybe a bit of a "Booksmart" dynamic going on, except it's a girl who has a strange pregnancy. Then, came across this movie that I'd never heard of called "The Voices" with Ryan Reynolds and Anna Kendrick which went straight to VOD. It's a.... dark comedy. You know there's "Dark Comedy" and that could mean Fargo, or even Parasite, and then there are "Dark Comedies" that are really just horror movies with a tinge of comedy, and this one is not... quite either of those things. It's very dark, but has a very light feel. And the really light feel makes how dark it is pretty fucked up, and then on top of that I think it might actually be a pretty good depiction of a schizophrenic killer. The depiction of him and his surroundings on his meds vs off his meds was really interesting. Also I was surprised that it was Ryan Reynolds voicing the animals. I can see how some company ended up with the distribution for this film and then said "ahhhh fuck it" but it's a... good movie.
September 28, 20205 yr I just watched Lost in Translation for the umpteenth time. I cannot explain why I like this movie, well I can partly - SJ obviously, but maybe it's closing in on middle-age and wanting to be in Tokyo drinking and chasing newlyweds around or something.
September 30, 20205 yr The House By the Cemetery - The final film in Fulci's Gates of Hell trilogy. Tits, graphic violence, odd dubbing choices, and everything else you love about Italian horror films.

Little Monsters Happy Death Day, and the Sequel Tusk - Hate it, love it. I love it.What we do in the shadows - GeniusThe Final Girls - Cool idea, worth a watch Behind the Mask: Leslie Vernon - To me, this is a must see. Housebound - Cool movie from New Zealand.Krampus - Love this damn movie for the HolidaysTrick r Treat - If you haven’t seen this, do it The Babysitter - More Weaving Killer Klowns - Classic100 Bloody Acres - Worth watching if you can find itThe Loved Ones - Is this Horror/Comedy? Maybe. Whatever it is, see it! It’s awesome.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
October 4, 20205 yr Haven't seen Last Samurai since it came out in theater 16 years ago. Ultra solid. Can't complain about a single thing. Starting my samurai movie kick
October 9, 20205 yr True History of the Kelly Gang (2019) I wanted to like it more, and it had some good performances, but the sordidness or the whole story and the already cliched "anachronistic" Western styling just kind of beat me down.
October 10, 20205 yr Watched last night with the family. Typical Sandler movie. Just pure, good, stupid fun with some great underlying messages with some of your favorite Sandler cast members. No long review needed. If you appreciate Sandler, watch it.
