November 18Nov 18 Bring in Gideon as HC & get the best OC out there. Problem solved, you could even salvage your elite defensive recruiting class. National Title Cups for Everyone. The drops issue may linger though.

That butterfingered choad? Bullshit. (Never forget, never forgive.)
November 18Nov 18 Well what is the consensus here? Should we take a poll? I am parking myself in this thread bc it will become the place not too long from now. Not an opinion. I guess I am on the Freshwater band wagon? Seems to be the best choice?

November 18Nov 18 I want to remind everyone that Lane Kiffin has been a head coach for 14 years and has: 0 playoff appearances 2 conf championships (USA) 2 NY6 appearances 1 NY6 bowl win

It would either work or it would end spectacularly.
November 19Nov 19 Even if Sark left, Kiffin prob wouldn't happen because a) he'll already be at LSU/UF and b) he is too similar to Sark (and in fact is a close friend). That said, I think he'd be good. His offense kicks ass wherever he goes regardless of OC, QB, etc. He's proven that in the same conference so less risk there. And he hasn't had Texas level talent at Ole Miss which would help quite a bit. Not sure if realistic but Freeman and Deboer would be my other top choices. Beyond that it's a wasteland which is yet another reason making a move wouldn't be great.
November 19Nov 19 Freeman, Kiffin , Day , Lanning, Smart, Cignetti, Deboer, Shannahan - All would be takes, but completely unrealistic Bob Stoops would be hilarious and I'd be down for the ride Wouldn't want Franklin too conservative, i doubt he'll ever win the big one at this point Urban - fuck it spin the wheel lets see what happens, probably another disaster but he could win quick and gtfo Fuck them retreads - Gundy, Patterson, Kingsbury, Mack Brown Honestly would probably go for someone still hungry like Golesh at USF , Traylor at UTSA , and find the best fucking GM we can get to support them Edited November 19Nov 19 by BigHornedLurker

November 19Nov 19 It'd be kinda cool to see an up and comer like Jesse Minter or Joe Brady hired at like $5mm plus huge incentives that can get them up to $15mm for a NC. Plus a huge assistant coach pool. 16 hours ago, BigHornedLurker said: Freeman, Kiffin , Day , Lanning, Smart, Cignetti, Deboer, Shannahan - All would be takes, but completely unrealistic Idk if Deboer is unrealistic as we'd normally think. There are some rumors about him and Penn St flirting. His Bama tenure has been kinda fish out of water. Both sides might be ok with a fresh start
November 20Nov 20 Freeman and Kiffin would be the Top 2 on my wish list bc I believe both would kill it at UT. Hot take, I know. Otherwise, Morris is appealing based on what he's done at UNT. Guy seems like he's all about football 247.

May even help keep Mack far away from the program
November 20Nov 20 Sark to Kiffin feels like a lateral move. You don’t get rid of Sark for the purpose of hiring Kiffin, but if circumstances require Sark to leave or he somehow bolts for an NFL job, you could (and we have) do a lot worse than Kiffin.

With the rumors floating around Sark , you don't pull the trigger on Kiffin who's got similar stories floating around. Rumors of Kiffin banging sorority girls , boosters wives , you name it. I personally don't care but his discernment is probably a concern for a replacement like going from a fire to a frying pan

December 10Dec 10 This is a shit team and shit coaching staff that needs a full reboot. Rebuild OL, RB, and DB rooms through the portal. Fire Akina, Flood, and Banks to start.Sark not listening. Fires RB coach. [emoji849]
December 10Dec 10 Flood isn't going anywhere, he and Sark are too tight. RB coach as sacrificial lamb. Maybe we get Akina too.
December 10Dec 10 If Sark doesn't fire Flood after rolling that OL out in year 5, he ain't interested it getting better. huge red flag.

I would say the exact same thing for Akina, Brandon Harris and Chris Jackson. If substantial changes aren't made in those area.. I don't think any real changes are coming.

December 10Dec 10 34 minutes ago, Im_smarter_then_you said: Unless sark was the one that decided not to go after any OL in the portal the point of having an OL coach is to recruit OL and develop them. I don't expect them to be a rolling ball of butcher knives every year but what we had was a complete failure, quite literally an "F". if you are gonna get paid that much you need to come with a lot more than an F. add to this year, some past running game failures and I think you have to look elsewhere. The OL is the key to just about any football team. a portal is a gap fill and at OL it is going to be really hard to plug and play easily, even if you can find one. I'm not absolving Sark of his responsibility, which is to make sure his OL coach(and other coaches for that matter) is doing his job.
December 10Dec 10 Time to fire Banks for cause. If Pole Assassin and the monkey aren’t an inappropriate relationship, I don’t know what is.
December 11Dec 11 Wasn't part of the problem with using the portal last year was our appearance in the playoffs made us enter the portal late? Could we have picked up portal help without some of our guys going into the portal to keep the overall scholarship numbers in line? Maybe they knew they had needs, but by the time they got in the portal game, there was no one left other than JAGs pretty much the same quality as what we already had? The idea that they couldn't develop these OL better (Neto, etc) is more a concern for me than who we did or did not pick up. Or is the development available but the talent level we've been recruiting has been suspect?
December 11Dec 11 I would like to hope texas can do better than a fired coach of a team that went 2-6 in the ACC last year
