Update: Tennessee head coach Jeremy Pruitt has clarified that Sapp did not “quit” the team at halftime, but was asked to leave the field after he refused to go into the game. His future with the team is up in the air.

Exactly. I'm not sure if he really needed to add that clarification.

He was bigger then.

I’m a bit surprised that a coach would send a player off during a game.  If a player refused to play for whatever reason, I would think a head coach’s attention would be on the next player up and the game in front of them.

The real TU. As a Florida fan I cried laughing during this game.

He refused to go in the game, was asked to leave the field, but his status on the team is undecided?

Way to send a message there, coach.

and they play UGA next weekend, so many more will likely quit lol

Like I said on the other thread, I moved back from Knoxville a year too early.

I'm not sure I ever went a day wearing something Texas where someone didn't comment about the "real UT" thing.  Seriously.  Every.  Single.  Time.  In retrospect, I should have somehow worked in the Don Draper line about, "We never think about y'all or your 'real UT' claim".

We had our best rb quit in hs like this. He ended up playing at Navarro JC and then served 10 years in prison for armed robbery of a subway. /csb

Corsicana is a hell of a drug.

Refusing to go in the game, especially when you are getting your ass kicked, is quitting. Dress it up in coach speak all you want, but the dude quit.

That team would have been so much better with Mike Leach at the helm, as the fired AD was about to sign him to the Vols, as I understand the rumor...

I had the same thing happen in Colorado years ago.

I'm a Tennessee fan. The real UT.

Yeah. Tennessee is a great state. They're likely wouldn't be a Texas without Tennessee.

And that orange you guys have, it's not like ours--

You mean you can't see it from space?

The guy cracked up and all that shit ended. Nice guy, actually.

I'd never heard of this rivalry with Tennessee, either. Sorta surprising.

It actually took me a few weeks to even understand what the hell was happening.  I honestly had no idea there was a big fight re: two initials.  Hell, I think Volnation's main moderator goes by, "The Real UT" or something similar.

Risk/reward of robbing a subway is brilliant. I would think them having $1000 on hand would be on the high end.

I live somewhere between Nashville and Knoxville.

It comes up and I throw out a pre-emptive "Yeah yeah the "fake" UT". It it continues, I'll throw a Boone liking Texas better comment in there somewhere.

Right now, the Vols fans aren't talking much shit.

Admit it, you are how Crab Orchard got it's name?

Dude at the whiteboard didn't quit

Crockett. Boone liked Kentucky better.

The Vols are still butt-hurt from Davy Crockett abandoning the hills of Tennessee for Texas, "Ya'll can go to hell - I'm goin' to Texas!"

That must have been a confusing hat ceremony

Hahah, fuck I'm an idiot.

Crocket, Davy Crocket, king of the wild frontier.

I've mixed them up many a time myself. If not for that speeding ticket in Crockett, Texas, I probably still would.

"Oh Rocky Top you'll always be, last in the SEC! Good ole Rocky Top, whoo! Hold this L Tennessee!"

Doesn't help that Crockett is a bit in the Boonies.

I cross Texas on little roads that most Texans never see. It's like vibrating through walls.

Read the damn op.

It's "quits at the half",  not "queefs at the half"!

There is another UT and their mascot is the Voles?

Its a bad place to be when you are making excuses for a cancer to the team so that he doesn’t leave instead of kicking his ass out of the program.
