November 23Nov 23 With the 9-game SEC schedule we’re goin to play at least two non conference games each year against ULM/UTEP/UTSA, etc. If we pussy out on playing at least one challenging OOC game each year then add one to the dogshit lineup. I hope we don’t do the latter, but it’s a possibility. As a result, we’re guaranteed at least two games in inferno that is Austin in September and maybe three. Since we’re playing these shit tea,an anyway, why not have one of those September weekends at least be a conference game which would be away every other year? Additionally is it not a bad idea to have what’s effectively a bye week right before what should be the big push every year? I get not playing D-2 schools, but why do so many people bitch about SEC schools pushing one of their dogshit games to November instead of September? End of the day you play the same schedule, you’re just spreading out the cupcakes… Edited November 23Nov 23 by Ignatius
November 23Nov 23 Of course it’s a good idea to put a get healthy game in November, just like it’s a good idea to play a cupcake week 1
November 23Nov 23 Pride? This November cupcake bullshit should be going away, starting next year with the 9-game SEC schedule. Sankey is encouraging league members to beef up their OOC scheduling, too.

November 23Nov 23 Honestly, if we beat aggy to go 9-3 and get left out of the playoff, the message to all of college football is don't ever schedule a big OOC game at any time. If we'd played a scrub in week 1 instead of @ Ohio State, we'd have gotten in easily.

November 23Nov 23 If playing a marquee match up week one - which by definition means you could lose - means you can’t have one conference slip up to a team you should beat then your basically saying the loss to said marquee match up matters. so don’t schedule it. but the real problem is Texas has looked like dog shit in 8 out of 11 games and only looked good against OU, Arkansas and Vanderbilt. Teams absolutely will stop scheduling those games. The rest of the schedule is non-negotiable. They're conference games. Yeah, win them. Obviously. But in this new world, if a 9-3 Texas team with a better SOS than every single 10-2 team gets left out, then no one should schedule big OOC games. It's all risk and no reward.

November 23Nov 23 It was a blow out. They scored 21 points in the 4th. We had a chance until it got into the 4th and then it was over. The Florida loss is worse because they are one of the worst SEC teams. It's also one that looking back makes no sense at all.

November 23Nov 23 You take tOSU loss out of the equation and call it a win over rice. Being fair to the season, it wouldn’t be convincing though. Texas drops to 2-3 after a few shit weeks and another team shows themselves to be dominant. Then the Florida loss, probably drops to 7-10. Then the struggles against UK and Miss St. would have kept Texas in that range. Then Texas gets boat raced by Georgia. Where would Texas be? Somewhere between 12-16 or so. Guess what, that’s where Texas is on Tuesday. Yeah the Ohio State loss did something but I’m not convinced a worse schedule with the same results but a win over a team like Rice has us much higher than where we will be on Tuesday. And if it would, by 3-4 spots only and we’re still biting our nails. The fact is this Texas team is a top 15-20 team, we know it, committee knows it, and hiding at the beginning of the season with a win over rice wouldn’t do much for us in this instance. Yes, most SEC teams have moved all of their OOC games to September. The only teams that haven't are Ole Miss and Mizzou. Any teams with ACC permanent rivals will continue to play them on rivalry weekend at the end of November.
