The people on the hurricane board seem to think it's going to continue to strengthen. I hope they're full of shit.

Will Panama City Beach be rebuilt in time for Spring Break?
Doesnt PCB have strict no booze on beach laws which basically killed the thought of having spring break there?

Yes

I hope Michael packed plenty of lube.

Neighbors next door to house wisely chose to leave at the last second. I was texting them earlier and thought they were crazy to stay. Even with a 15 foot dune I’m not sure what this storm surge will actually do and the wind will be bad.

Storm surge expected 12-14 feet, and that's not counting wave height (usually 3-6 feet in these) plus tide.  Michael's supposed to make landfall about halfway between low and high tide; high tide comes about 6 p.m. in Apalachicola, Michael hits about 2-3 hours before that.  So the tide will be rising as it hits.

Anything that ain't 15-20 feet high is gonna get flooded.

Click on the green dots on the screen.

Those guys are nuts but it is cool for us.

Thanks for the link.

I was having a hard time finding any of the Florida live webcams that I usually watch that were working this morning.

Curious to see what the WXChasing cam is going to look like in a few hours.

I hope they have an ability to broadcast the signal without cell phone service.

Typically these storms lose a category of strength right before landfall...I'm guessing because of the shallow water.  I was hoping the dry air of this cold front would kill the storm some but that doesnt look like it's going to happen as I dont think the front will reach the storm in time

Down to 929.

Stronger.

Follow Bret Adair for now.

Intense.  Headed to Mexico Beach to intercept the eye.

145 mph winds, yikes. Surprised it doesn't look worse on tv coverage yet as it is only hours away from landfall.

On the bright side, the storm appears that it will move out of area fairly quickly.   If you can avoid, wind/storm surge damage, the flooding may be minimalized due to rain

Apalachicola sounds like some sort of redneck utopia.

It's where all the good shrimp / oysters come from.

I may be wrong, but I remember being there one time in January/February and it wasn't as redneck as the rest of the area.

Glad I passed on the chance to buy a small house in Rosemary Beach.  Landfall should be east of there but shit, not east enough.  Panama City . . . oof.

I love that area. Never went to the panhandle growing up in Georgia for some reason, but I finally made my first trip this past may with my family to Seagrove Beach. The water there is just absolutely amazing. Really hoping they don't sustain too much damage.

Michael's going to scour way years of built up  jizz, meth and STDs from PCB...

Yet PCB STILL won't be clean.

Jeff's "success" in Harvey is going to get someone killed eventually. Too many chasers.

"Stay inside".  Yeah, like several floors up.  Anyone at sea level is proper fucked.

Don't know if this is true, or a flagged number.

Storm chasers and Notaries Public, they live for excitement, danger, and adventure and there is always an abundance of them so that no one cares when one dies.

He's driving around a neighborhood and the lines are falling as he's driving.  Nuts!!!
