cornyn will still only have one campaign message: I voted with President Trump 100% of the time. I have nothing else to say or add after my 18 years as your senator.

Edit: I had to look it up. He’s currently been our senator for 25 years now. You suck texans.

ICE can't do that, nor can the White House, since these are state elections.

And as mentioned, fucking with elections will cause a lot of problems for Republicans up and down the line, since their terms expire in January.

On the one hand, I'm a lunatic optimist who subscribes to a zonahorn forecast for 2026 midterms. I don't imagine Republicans are going to have a surge in popularity between now and then. On the other, wins in Republican controlled states like Iowa, Texas, and Alaska would be very helpful in retaking the Senate and House so I don't take any comfort that these are state elections. How does anyone in a red or blue state or community stop ICE or DHS from fucking with the integrity of elections by intimidation or seizing ballot boxes or voting machines? They'll do this under the pretense of "illegal immigrants are voting!" which is a mainstream talking point among Republican idiots. Once they've done this and cast the results into doubt, what can the courts or anybody else do about it? There are supposedly guardrails but who enforces them? Texas, Iowa, or Alaska? Trump's DOJ? Trump loving police departments sworn to cooperate with ICE like we have in Austin?

You're assuming we'll have elections in 26. We will not. Welcome to the United States of Trump. Enjoy.

I will be extremely surprised if the democrats take the house and utterly shocked if they take the senate. It’s not happening. The map doesn’t line up for them. Too many dumbass fucking stillborn evil gullible uneducated ignorant motherfuckers out there. It’s over. GOP will probably gain 1-2 senate seats and only lose a net 3-4 seats in the house. Trump is going to continue to wield the power of a medieval king through at least 2028. From there if there’s still a country to govern then maybe there’s a chance to start a long slow path to recovery. But for now the US appears to be in its waning days as a first world country.

Either Trump has self-awareness that his brand is not helping right now.

Or more likely he's wanting to see them try to outdo each other in their support for him to try and win his approval.

Imagine today was Election Day. Trump would be arguing that Minnesota is in a state of unrest and citizens are too afraid to vote with paid agitators and illegal aliens roaming the streets causing violence. Let's suspend elections until peace can be restored, which it never is within a dictatorship.

Trump, Noem, Miller, and Lewandowsky are working out the kinks in how to subdue a population with ICE and will likely expand the MN experience to as many blue states as possible. They're not rapidly expanding ICE and promising sign-on bonuses for no reason.

Iowa is not a border state. They are not going to seize ballot boxes anywhere - they don't have that power and they don't have the numbers, and they would be challenged. Hell, they can't even get Minneapolis under their control and they can't find enough volunteers for their "surge", and people are showing up everywhere to challenge them. Any attempts to rig the election will happen with the birthright stuff if Trump gets the win. Even if they tried to use ICE to intimidate people (try to check immigration status in lines), they would definitely stick to red states where they have support of some/most of the locals. Trump has to worry about Arizona, Georgia, Florida (still can't believe Miami flipped), Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan and you are looking at maybe a thousand ICE agents in each of those states which each have many millions of people in them. And that's a huge maybe on getting that many since a chunk of their agents are tied up with legit law enforcement work, detention, administration, etc. They could double the number and it would still be small numbers. And it would probably drive up voter turnout for the Dems.

And there's also the AI/social media aspect, which is far cheaper and easier than stealing ballot boxes - flood the olds' social media with AI bot bullshit about minorities to scare them and get them out. It's worked before.

Make no mistake, they'll try to steal the election, but they aren't going to wait until the last minute. They are hoping to get a win on the birthright stuff, and they are probably preparing the bot campaigns for social media as we speak (not that they ever stopped running them).

It just never ceases to shock me to see Texas's senior senator calling out @Brisketexan for his family tradition of baked meat slathered in ketchup.

I'm not talking about ICE in Iowa, I'm saying we can't depend upon the Republican run state of Iowa to safeguard elections and resist Trump's interference. You're absolutely right that they'll attempt to rig the elections in ways other than what I described in my post. They don't need to get a whole city or state under their control, just a few voting locations is enough to sow doubt and chaos and fuck with the results. They're only beginning to grow the number of ICE agents. They have a crazy amount of money they can spend between now and November thanks to the big beautiful bill. None of what they do needs to be legal either. "absolute immunity" as Vance said.

I fucking LOVE baked meat slathered in ketchup. The gloriousitude of a cold meatloaf sandwich with ketchup is unmatched:

If the Texas map was ultimately approved by judges, there should be no reason that California's map shouldn't also be approved. Therefore the Supreme Court will most likely find a reason to reject CA.

They're going to find that changing the maps one year ahead of a primary election violates Purcell.

Notwithstanding that's what Texas did, but it was only what the district court did (enjoin the map) that violates Purcell.
