So I've been in Chicago since Sunday, arriving to town just after a 5" snow, with another inch on Monday and a dusting today.

BFD, right?

Well I am staying in a hotel complex just 2 blocks south of Midway with multiple properties sharing a relatively large lot. My room looks out over said main lot.  I count a minimum of 40 cars that have not moved since Saturday, thank you for the evidence in the snow.  It finally dawned on me-  these fucking clowns are parking here( free for CUSTOMERS) and taking the airport shuttle from the airport.

I say tow their fucking vehicles.  I'm sure that accountability might bother some cheapskates on here, but fuck the people who are completely gaming good will of a business towards their customers.

Put the little tag in the window, and if it's not there, tow their ass.  The situation actually made me acknowledge the properties who charge stupid prices of parking-  hey at least you're protecting your patrons.  It should be 100% unnecessary, but here we are...

I’ve stayed at airport adjacent properties before that allow travelers who book a night before a trip, to leave their cars in the lot for the duration of their trips.  Are you certain that isn’t what is happening here?

#4

My dad use to do that at a hotel in Houston.  I think it was a pre arranged deal.

Yep plenty around dfw that allow that for a fee. This is as weird as slorch hating kids getting candy on Halloween

All the hotels in Fairbanks do this. In fact if you leave it in the winter they’ll plug your car in for you if you call them the day before you arrive so that bitch will start at 40 below

I will ask in the morning.

If so, that is dumb as hell.  We walk through the snow and ice all week to perimeter spots while the freeloaders just sit in the prime spots because they never fucking move.  and I am paying for a 6 night stay.

Yeah, pure horseshit.

Maybe you do that and someone sees you and they kick the shit out of you. Fair is fair.

Dude you have no idea what you’re talking about. They are paying for the parking spot and taking the shuttle. You are such a crybaby bitch. I pay 24 dollars a day to park at the Hyatt by LAX and use the quick park shuttle. Very common

They aren't there to fucking see me.  Risk is fucking 0%.

Not that I am inclined to do so, but point is valid

Parking is free.  Multiple properties share the lot.  They are gaming a service to otherwise paying customers.

That isn't being a crybaby.  I witnessed people parking and hopping on the shuttle, bringing their bags into the lobby and never to their rooms.  Only to get on the bus.

Why is that so hard to believe?

I am 99% sure whatever motel 6 you are staying at is free for customers and you had to give your car info when checking in. Places by the airport charge for this just because you weren’t personally notified of the charge doesn’t mean no one was charged. Go to dinner have fun go back to room and close the blinds and stfu

Oh well.

I guess I probably somehow owe those fuckers too.

#17

Can you take your clipboard down and write down license plates then ask the front desk about charges and report back?

What is it that “you” owe?

Then I end up on some insurance commercial...

I legit laughed at that one.

You really think the hotel is letting those cars sit there for free days on end?

walking the Iditarod back from our own vehicle to the hotel...

while other cars sit there with 6" of snow on them, so they haven't moved since Saturday.

Is it the end of the world?  of course not.  Is it fucking hotel patrons?  Yes.

There's a Lou Malnati's on your corner right there or a Giordano's a block and a half up from there if that's more your style.  Go have a beer and a pie and relax.  Those hotels offer those spots and the shuttle service for a fee through various parking spot apps.  The hotels are getting paid by those people through the app whether they got a room or not.

#32

This the place? $15.75/day to park your car and ride the hotel shuttle to the airport.

Slorch, it is sending me that you’re looking at a packed lot near a major airport and you immediately think the hotel is offering a parking and shuttle benevolence service for people who craftily found a way out of using The Parking Spot. I promise that the owners of that lot are getting paid.

If it’s pissing you off that you don’t have a good spot, go down and bitch to the manager that more spaces need to be reserved for guests or leave a Google review or whatever. It’s very likely that the margins on a “use at your own risk uncovered parking spot” approach or even exceed housing a hotel guest with a free spot and a continental breakfast tho.

I feel bad for the OP that he stayed 2 blocks from Midway for a week. Thoughts and prayers. That sounds fucking terrible

What kind of sociopath takes notes of 40+ cars in a parking lot just in case they want to rage about illegal parking a few days later?

I flew into Midway once, in the 90s. The whole place smelled like piss. /csb

Related:

First time I flew into Midway it was the old a fuck terminal that Southwest brought back to life in the late 90's.  They had winding staircases to jetways.  Beat as fuck terminal.

Flew back a year or two later on another trip and spent the morning bad mouthing the Midway airport to a co-worker.  We stepped off the plane to the new terminal, I was obviously surprised and my co-worker gave me shit for the rest of the time we worked together over thinking a brand new terminal was garbage.

TLDR the old Midway did in fact smell like piss
