Yellowstone.

Lord of the Rings

Schindler's List

Took my college sweetheart on our first date to see Schindler's List.  I thought it was a regular WWII movie.  It's in my Top 5; however, I've only seen it that one time.  As a teacher, I can't do "kids in pain or dying" scenes.

Not even the same ballpark, but I made out through much of JFK, and eventually we left before it was over to go fuck in the back of her station wagon.

The Godfather movies. Keep waiting for the right time to watch them. It's been a long wait.

Band of Brothers. Never been a big fan of WW1/WW2 stuff so just never bothered to watch it when it aired.

Watch all of these. Legit great.

You really have to watch The Big Lebowski several hundred times to appreciate it.

Karate Kid? Haven’t seen a single Avatar. The one that has been on my list for forever but I just haven’t sat down with is True Romance. Oh, and Django Unchained.

The Wire.  I tried the first couple of episodes twice.  Couldn't get into it.

I've fallen asleep on it about 10 times.

Dang... It's good once it gets going.

But I understand. I watched about 2 seasons of Breaking Bad and just couldn't go any further...

"But did you see the uncle ring the bell?!?"

Sure.

It starts out looking like a regular ol cop drama, above average if you like Homicide Life on the Streets.  It's probably not until halfway through season 2 that the beauty and epicness of it really starts to kick in.

The Wire is a masterpiece, but yeah, it takes a bit of on investment at first.

I had the same reaction to first few episodes of season 2 and I stopped watching.  I waited twenty years to watch it again.  It's fucking great.  Season 5 gets a little squirrelly but its still good.

I didn’t watch GOT until last year 😂

The Big Lebowski is great the first time and then you watch it a bunch to catch things you missed, but also get bored at times when certain parts drag on.

True Romance is overrated but worth a watch for the references it put into pop culture.

Django Unchained is an all timer for combing that uncomfortable subject matter with extreme violence. I’d watch it and the gift Lebowski multiple times before True Romance.

The wire season 1 is about the streets of Baltimore, if you’re not intrigued by that premise you’ll never get into it to start. It’s a follow up to The Corners miniseries that aired on network tv by David Simon a few years prior. It’s got the cops and other parts, but season 1 is the streets.

Season 2 departs heavily from that and lost a lot of viewers expecting more of season 1, but it makes sense by the end of season 2 and ties it back in. Seasons 3,4,5 explore other parts of the system tying it all together with those early storylines. You have to watch it all to truly appreciate the full storyline. Also you have to acknowledge you might not relate to many of the characters motives and struggles.

Season 2 and Ziggy were tough to deal with initially. If you can eat shit for 3 episodes you will be rewarded.

Yeah, I should have mentioned the shift to the docks and new characters that are tough to tie in initially to season 1, but it gets better and makes more sense by the end. I thought season 2 was out of place at first as well.

Still haven't.

I have HBO Max, but the last half of it apparently being awful prevents me from giving it a try.

Yeah, that whole "fantasy" thing isn't really my deal, so I resisted.  But the first 4-5 seasons will really drag you in.

Dang... It's good once it gets going.

Sure.

Breaking Bad is the only show I can think of that every season is twice as good as the last. It’s a good show until season 3 when it becomes a great show, then in season 4 and 5 it’s arguably the best ever.

Breaking Bad takes off when the new key characters are introduced in season 2.

I enjoyed the Wire from the start. The  line of “got to, it’s America man”.

Watched one superhero movie in the last 15 years. Thor Ragnarok

I loved Homicide Life On The Streets back in the day, so I was down with The Wire from git.  But still, from Season 1 alone, it seems like a cop drama.

And, for most of us expecting that to continue in Season 2, it was something of a shock.  But then it starts to come together.  Or apart.

Yeah, sounds like the hype I've heard. I think I bailed in season 3. That's when Saul shows up, right?

You could write a dissertation on the opening scene of The Wire. It distills all the major themes of the series.

Never seen it either. Or Lincoln.

The best part of binge watching GOT is not remembering any of their names, so when you talk about it with others you have to describe the character instead of reciting their name.

I watched M for the first time a couple of weeks ago.

I have to be in the right mindset to appreciate those types of films.

A bottle of wine, half a gummie and a pitch black room; and I totally understand the hype.

I just finished watching West Wing for the first time and it immediately goes in to my all time Top 5.

Allison Janney is incredible.

Should I watch The Shield? I've got some free time coming up with the holidays, so I can binge something. I think I've watched all the major prestige shows that I want to.
