Irrespective of where Texas is landing this year, and assuming the CFP refuses to expand to 16 and continues to force DEI teams into shit football game matchups (I mean FBS create your own playoff FFS), why not at least consider an NIT setup for football?

Makes all the now relegated bowl games more relevant: hosting real teams, so more money there and more payouts for all involved.

Texas, USC, Vandy, Michigan, Miami/ND and a handful of wannabes getting their shot would make for some good football over a single bowl game that doesn’t really make a shit.

Hell, maybe even the first four out from the CFP drop into the consolation field of 12-16

Is that so damn crazy?  Basketball does it.  Then again they don’t have bowls.

So instead of playing one game that doesn’t matter you want to play multiple? Pass

Probably breaks down when everyone sits out for the NFL. Just like our upcoming bowl game.

There will be money involved. Payouts like the CFP, just less. So there is certainly school incentive.

Who is sitting out our bowl game? Arch, Jaggy, Taaffe, Simmons? Other than Ant Hill nobody should be sitting out unless the coaches ask them to.

Wasn’t speaking precisely to Texas. We don’t have the same number of senior starters bound for the NFL. More a general comment about folks sitting out meaningless bowl games.

I’m not convinced Arch sits

Extra practices, that makes some sense. The other and bigger problem is that these are not fully grown men yet and the longer you make the season the worse off 99.9 percent of the student athletes are who are going pro in something other than football

I’m not convinced Arch sits

I was joking about my list. Can't think of anyone that sits besides Hill.

The fuck has happened to Texas football fans? Wanting to drop marquee games, groveling for schools like Vandy to lose to improve CFP chances and now a goddamn NIT setup… JFC!

No one returning is sitting out.

Why? It’s meaningless. Use it to play backups and treat it like a nfl preseason game. Play our starters maybe a quarter

I wouldn’t be shocked if Manny and DJ Campbell sit.
