December 7Dec 7 Jumping the gun a bit here, but most likely outcome. When all the dust settles, I think this will be a good defense for Arch to face. Wink Martindale does not make it easy for a QB

December 7Dec 7 Very low scoring game I’d guess, both offenses will struggle to move the ball. But with opt outs and coaching changes who the hell knows what these teams look like.

December 7Dec 7 Popular Post In the 12-team playoff era, the bowl games are dead, not just for the fans, but to the players themselves who deem them worthy of sitting out to avoid injury ahead of NFL prospects. Will I watch? Yes. Do I expect to be able to glean much from the result? No.
December 7Dec 7 Exhibition game for 2026 season... expect several longhorn players to opt out of this Citrus Bowl. Both NFL bound, and portal out players likely won't play... Edited December 7Dec 7 by LTtxfan
December 7Dec 7 Well the opt outs are guys who aren't back next year so why not see what we have behind them? It's also a way to get portal guys into the program as they can visit during practices.
December 7Dec 7 Author You adjust with life. Yes, it likely won't be a current snapshot of what the team will be, but it is still an opportunity to learn for several members of the team. The most important player of next year's team will play and needs to prepare accordingly. Sark, mentally, needs to elevate himself to a level of a person who dishes out the punches instead of rolling with them. You now know what happens if your plan is just to navigate the schedule, and spit out "all our goals are ahead of us" ad nauseam during the season. The best time to become someone who hates losing more than they love wining is now.
December 7Dec 7 These games are so lose lose now. Stars don’t want to play risking injury for nothing. If backups show out, they are immediate portal risks.

We only had 3 players opt out of 2022's Alamo Bowl. The only guys probably opting out are portal guys and guys going into the NFL. They may encourage Hill to sit out to not risk another injury. December 7Dec 7 the only upside is Sark can get started figuring out who he is going to replace Flood and Akina with.
December 7Dec 7 Popular Post I remember a marquee bowl game against Michigan 20 years ago. We had a hyped QB who had started to come into his own and roster filled with very talented sophomores and juniors. Texas ended up beating Michigan in a nail biter. Does anyone remember what happened next year when those kids grew up and came back?
December 7Dec 7 Popular Post Georgia wasn’t supposed to give a fuck about drawing a deadbeat FSU team in 2023. That didn’t stop them from absolutely skull fucking them. Good on Kirby for (finally) setting the example on the proper way to react after getting left out.
December 7Dec 7 36 minutes ago, Chopper said: nobody will gaf about this game, it will feel like the pro bowl. Yep, only reason I'd watch a second of it no matter who we play is if Lacey and the freshmen played all game. This is nothing but a glorified scrimmage. Dont care if we lose by 40. Just play all the freshmen.

If you dont even make a 12 team playoff then it's back to the drawing board and you need to find out what you have going forward. Every school should just use it to play their backups that will be back next season. Maybe that would get the NCAA to cancel these stupid exhibition games and go to mandatory p4 non con round robin and a 16 team playoff.

Wink Martindale does not make it easy for a QB Sark has already showed he’s a terrible matchup for Martindale. He is rigid in his defensive approach, so many clear rules Sark can manipulate. The Michigan game made Quinn look like a first round pick.

A 10 win season in a "down" year is a sign of a healthy program.
December 7Dec 7 Michigan has a head coach who will be fired by the end of next season. Texas romps in a 31-17 win that was never in doubt.

December 7Dec 7 There’s really no point in playing these non-playoff bowl games anymore. Neither team will be fielding anywhere near the same rosters that they did during the regular season.

I don’t know much about Michigan’s roster but assume they are like us without many draftees. Anyone on both teams coming back next year will be playing

Yeah totally get the senior of it, the last game of it… outside of just playing for love of the game, it doesn’t really matter for returning starters. And the whole securing your spot is dumb. Spring practice and fall practice will have more impact than the bowl game

Sark can't think like that. He needs to build a culture of winning. Beating a helmet team like Michigan helps with that, especially going into next year.

I would think Hill, Mohammad, Campbell, and maybe Guilbeau (although I'm not sure I would do that if I was him) would think about it. Maybe McDonald and Burke, too? Taaffe will play because he's Taaffe. In any case, I don't expect to be able to take a whole hell of a lot away from this bowl game. Hopefully, some of the young guys show out
