My entire point is we have fuck all to do with the shitty choices Texas decision makers have regarding head coaches. Further, that Cignetti's resume prior was better, longer and more complete than any of the last 3 Texas hires and suprise, suprise his next step was better too. Would I have seen it as a better hire, yes. Would he have been my top choice, no. Would it have been preferable to any of the last 3, yes.
I didn't bring up the topic in this thread, feel free to go back and find who did and complain to them.

That dude seems to be the next Urban Meyer. He just waited later in life to start.

Guys and gals get killed every year in drunken car wrecks or “shootings”. Are our people not gonna party this holiday? Nobody gonna drive over the next few weeks? For every story like the one above, there are three who actually got killed. The real problem is athletes coming back from injuries too quickly. And then some are just injury prone. It’s a lot a variables but most jocks wanna play the game. Whenever it’s offered. Some don’t. Let the players play.

None of that has anything to do with the topic at all. Again, answer to this:

"If your job told you if you took the rest of the year off you'd get several million dollars next summer, but if you worked the rest of the year (at no pay) there's even a 1 percent chance you wouldn't get the money, none of you would choose to work.

You're expecting these players to think with your stupid fan brain. And unfortunately that pressure causes some of them to make bad decisions. That's why the coaches need to protect them and do what is right for them. And right for the team. This game is meaningless. "

Can we leave the "sark sucks" stuff to the appropriate thread, for fucks sake.       Whether he sucks or not, it doesn't matter because he isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so just confine the bitching and the sometimes absolutely valid complaints to one or two threads, it doesn't have to infect every thread with the same people saying the same things.   Jesus.

I disagree. People are posting about how practicing and playing this meaningless game will help our players and team improve and I don't think that is absolutely true, as you are dependent on how good your coaches are and how motivated your players are. Did bowl practices help Strong and Herman's teams be better the following year? I don't think it helped one bit. In fact, getting more coaching from bad coaches may make you actually worse.

If you listened to the Big 10 Championship post game interviews by the Indiana players said, it was very instructive. They both talked about going out to practice throwing and catching at 5:30am on Sundays. I was wondering how their 0-star receiver was making insane catch after insane catch, and now I know. When I watch our supposed 5-star players drop balls all over the field in big games, I wonder whether they have the same commitment or they are getting the best coaching and I don't think the bowl game will help one bit.

We have  discipline issue, point blank

I blame you geniuses for not pounding the table on Cignetti 5 years ago with all this knowledge you had about him.

For cause…oh I’m intrigued

Is it LSU "fired for cause" or normal "fired for cause" ???

That doesn’t make a lot of sense to me unless he did something nasty.

I swear someone posted this was going to happen like a week or 2 ago here or on twitter or somewhere and assumed some idiot making things up.   Or like Crabtree I just dreamed it in my head.

Obviously there is some nasty shit that has occurred.  The team ought to be fired up for the ChezI-It bowl for sure now.  QB in the portal?

The timing is bad, but they were going to have to do this in a year anyway.  I wonder what he did?

Run of the mill bad and they happily got rid of him a year early then.

maybe the intertrons got caught in a grapevine effect and this whole "Sarkisian" thing was actually a "Sherrone" thing.

credible evidence meaning a new human.

Weren’t people saying this was a thing months ago??

One of those things they knew about a while back but waited to see if he could get them back to the playoffs first.

NIL should have a performance clause where the coach decides who plays in the bowl game. Would backend the shit out of the pay.

I'm sure it was magical. She has the face of an angel...

In the 12-team playoff era, the bowl games are dead, not just for the fans, but to the players themselves who deem them worthy of sitting out to avoid injury ahead of NFL prospects.  Will I watch?  Yes.  Do I expect to be able to glean much from the result?  No.
I just look at as a replacement for the spring game, except the opponent isn't ourself.

Oh, and of course a much bigger deal for the players involved of course, not really a glorified scrimmage.
Exhibition game for 2026 season... expect several longhorn players to opt out of this Citrus Bowl.
Both NFL bound, and portal out players likely won't play...

Damn, was so looking forward to seeing Conner Stroh whiff on a block one more time! It's a shame
Non-CFP bowl games are no longer "marquee" bowl games. Times have changed.

The sponsors, everyone involved at the venue and TV networks will disagree with you.

That said, I also think it's time for the old bowl system to go away.

I really don't know how some of the mid December bowls with no-name matchups avoid losing more than they make tbh, but the number of bowl games seems to continue growing so I guess there is some financial wizardry involved.
There’s really no point in playing these non-playoff bowl games anymore. Neither team will be fielding anywhere near the same rosters that they did during the regular season.
Extra practices and gives some true Freshmen who didn't see the field this year a chance at some action.

Oh, and dem swag bags

I see where you're trying here. But "My Sharona" isn't similar enough in cadence to "Goodbye Sherrone" for it to work.

Perhaps changing it to "B-b-b-bye Sherron-e" gets you closer to what you wanted to do.

All the old marquee bowls are now playoff games.

People brought up Vince in '04. But that was the Rose Bowl. It had prestige in the sport. If we were playing in the Rose Bowl this year it would be a playoff game.

No one in 2004 or 2025 gives a shit about the Citrus Bowl or Alamo Bowl. Even less of a shit now since we actually have a playoff
