December 11Dec 11 So... If the Citrus Bowl doesn't happen, do we still get the practices? Can this just be the orange and white scrimmage that we missed?
December 11Dec 11 From here forward, whenever I am whining about having a bad day, I will think to myself it isn't worse than the day Sherone Moore had on December 10 2025. Thanks Michigan! Y'all are real pals.

There is now a divide of back to back CFPs put it on the wall, better than Herman or Strong, and we can't do any better vs the math and behaviors compared against any equal level spenders doesn't work out, the plans are shitty, the position coaches suck and we need better results group. So, pretty much like every time Texas makes a bad football HC hire there is the fear of change head in the sand, rah rah support your coach and the our coach is not good divisions. It takes absolute failure for the yay team guys to see the light, every time. No amount of data will sway them. Reminds me of our long conversation about Tom Mensa Herman. We both knew he was hype hire bullshit. Passed that along to a few boosters I know and they were not amused Started parroting hermans agents talking points. December 11Dec 11 Serious question, why wouldn't the citrus bowl happen? Transfer portal doesn't open till Jan 2.

December 11Dec 11 Texas will barely be mentioned during the game because the entire focus will be on the poor UM players.

Just now, JBJ said: One last chance to improve their value before entering the portal. We should do what UGA did to Florida State a few years ago in their bowl game. No mercy.

Everything doesn't have to be so meaningful and serious all the time. We can just have a fun football game.

I want us to go in there, win, get good reps for next year's contributors, no injuries, and bounce. So much fucking drama this post season. I want us to just waltz our way down the high road.

Texas fans expectations have always been make conference championship game and hopefully win. They have also expected Texas somewhere in or very close to top 10. Failing that has always created consternation among Texas fans and they aren't alone. Michigan, Bama, OSU, ND, OU etc etc etc all expected that prior to the CFP. When they didn't yes, there was lots of frustration and anger. Meeting those expectations would get a Texas or any of the other teams in the CFP, just ask Bama. However, now, rather than 1 or 2 bowl games that determine "the best team" with 90% subjective criteria of mediots the teams actually get to play it out. People love to bemoan the CFP, the committee and yearn for yesteryear. Well, the world hasn't changed THAT much, just the voters have much less on final say on the national champion than the actual teams. That's a good thing. Edited December 11Dec 11 by BurntEyes

And many of us had our hopes up we’d sneak in and make the playoffs but we didn’t There should be some nuance here - everything kept going wrong for us - Arch needed 4-5 weeks to get comfortable, our OL/run game wasn’t good, we had injuries at bad times. We still finish 9-3, beat all our rivals and are going to the highest tier non-CFP bowl BUT - We can still have fun and enjoy the bowl ride. And then hop into the expectations coaster again in August.

But I came to terms with the fact that we almost certainly weren't going to make the playoffs during the 4th quarter of the Georgia game. So I knew we were going to some Bowl Game. I am going to make the best of it. I am well aware this is a glorified scrimmage. I am at least glad it is something goofy like the Cheezit Bowl. That just good fun. I still really hope we win. December 11Dec 11 Given the utter disarray of the Michigan team, I expect to see a fair amount of KJ Lacey, and in a good way.
December 11Dec 11 We beat those 2 rivals ass and they aren’t getting past the quarters so I don’t particularly care about that.

December 11Dec 11 This matchup had potential to be THE prime example of why bowls should stick around in the playoff era. Even with opt-outs and transfers, people will still watch a 9-3 Texas vs. 9-3 Michigan battle of the bluebloods. So the CFP system screwed the pooch and gave you shitty first round matchups with JMU and Tulane... can I interest you in a contest between the number one and number five all-time winningest programs as an amuse-bouche on NYE before the semi-final games? Now it just feels gross. People will still watch for the trainwreck, but it won't be good old-fashioned CFB fun as it should be.

But enthusiasm for the program has got to be at a historic nadir with the events of the last couple of weeks, and especially the last 24 hrs. Missed playoffs Dominated by main rival at home in last game of the season Utterly embarrassing sequence of events around the Head Coach's firing that completely dominates sports media Honestly, if the shoe was on the other foot, I'd have a hard time wearing my Longhorn gear out in public for a while.
December 11Dec 11 Hey so I really hope we play and destroy Michigan but if they drop out or are uninvited (is that even possible?), they should try to get Notre Dame. They've got an opening on their calendar and it would be great to beat down the domers.

What? It use to be that the minute one lost 1 game the feeling of crap another year of not winning the MNC is very likely and this season sucks! Therefore in the past there was time to recover and enjoy the season for what it was since a second or third loss did not change the predicament. Now that feeling only happens toward the end of the season once it is clear it is over and it lingers for the entire off-season. Now tell me did you enjoy that Colorado loss?
