Does start until Jan 15-18 for the Sony Open (no Sentry this year due to Kapalua being in shitty condition)

8 Signature events - AT&T Pebble, Genesis (Riviera), Mr Palmers event, RBC, Miami (Trump Doral), Truist (Quail Hollow), Jacks Event, Travelers

Majors - Masters 4/9-12, PGA 5/14-17 (Aronimink), US Open 6/18-21 (Shinnecock Hills), The (British) Open 7/16-19 (Royal Birkdale)

2 active players need 1 event to get a Grand Slam - Jordan needs the PGA, Scottie needs the US Open. Those with wins in 2 different majors include Xander, Morikawa, Brooks, Rahm, DJ (ish he is done, IMO)

PGA TOUR - Tournament Schedule

https://www.espn.com/golf/story/_/id/47590926/brooks-koepka-returning-pga-tour-new-program

As part of Koepka's conditions to return, according to the memo, he agreed to forfeit any player equity shares for the next five years and won't be eligible for the $100 million FedEx Cup bonus program in 2026.

Koepka, at the PGA Tour's request, also agreed to make a $5 million donation to charity.

"Forfeiting five years of potential equity in our Player Equity program represents one of the largest financial repercussions in professional sports history -- our estimations are that Brooks could miss out on approximately $50 [million]-$85 million in potential earnings depending on his competitive performance and the growth of the tour," Rolapp wrote in the memo.

In his statement, Koepka said he understands the financial penalties associated with his decision, "and I accept those."

I'd be curious what charity that $5M extortion goes to. Someone probably figured a way to get paid.

Shit. He done got paid. Of course he accepts the financial penalties.

PGA also dangling an "expiring"* carrot out for Bryson, Rahm, and Cam Smith to return. They have until Feb 2 to accept.

*after this, there's no way they're ever turning down Bryson if/when he wants back in

So basically a $5 Million penalty. I'm sure he will cry losing that but will fortunately have the LIV $$$ to wipe his tears

money will wipe those tears away on Make a GIF

The idea of it being a $40-$85 million penalty is laughable. Just like the huge (unguaranteed) contract amounts the NFL announces while the guaranteed amount is really the contract value.

He's always seemed like kind of a dick, so I'd imagine the PGA guys who didn't like him before will still not like him but it will have precious little to do with his dalliance with LIV.

This has always been the case, big'ish fine with nominal suspension, money isn't really an issue for those who went LIV and the point of allowing them to come back is to poke back the the LIV tour that the biggest names are coming back to play "real" professional tour events. The guys with majors were already able to play in the majors every years, so it is about getting them into the other events.

He also isn't allowed sponsors exemptions into the signature events.

Take whatever he earned on LIV, subtract what he would have earned on Tour plus the $5M, plus what he can lose from not playing signature events, FedEx bonus money for this season and the equity share money and it might be fairly close to a wash.

That's assuming he comes back and plays decently, however.

I think each one only gets you 5 years at the other 3 though.

DJ content to stick around fucking that chicken in the minor leagues....

LIV Golf has signed two-time major champion Dustin Johnson to a multiyear extension, the league announced Wednesday.

Johnson, who won the 2016 U.S. Open and 2020 Masters while competing on the PGA Tour, is captain of the 4Aces GC team.

"I'm obviously very excited about this year," Johnson said Tuesday during a news conference in Palm Beach, Florida. "I think we're going to a couple new venues, and that's exciting. Obviously, anytime we're going to a new place, especially all the things I'm hearing about South Africa, it's supposed to be amazing. We've got a ton of fans."

And gosh darnit....people like us!

US Open will also give big names/past winners a special exemption (Mickelson played on one in 2021 before his PGA win gave him the 5 year deal)
