I've been successfully fending off the change to the new look and it's finally failed (or I have).  Anybody know if there's still a way to maintain the classic look?  I prefer old, classic, crusty, and compact with no more than 25 emails showing tops in a very stuffy manner.  and the options for that seem to be gone.  Ahh!  Thanks for any suggestions.

That's just it, that option is literally no longer there.  It was what I have been using for the last few months, but it's suddenly gone with todays version update.

Point taken.  I'll just revert to Classic Gmail.  If and when I am shown how.  Meantime, I am at the nexus of the universe as I googled "classic google"  Shit got real.

They allowed reverting for a few weeks, now it has been forced on all users. I hate it as well. Maybe the internet complaints will be enough to change their mind and allow reverting again, but based on history with other Google products, I really doubt it.

Something, something, 1.21 gigawatts

The option to revert (as shown above) is still available on my pc by clicking on the settings icon...the interwebs must hate you

I still have the option to revert on my personal gmail as well as my business gmail.

If that option is no longer there for you, you can kiiiiiind of make it look old by choosing Settings>Display Density>Compact. Kinda.

Have you tried turning it off and back on?

Or unplugged it and plugged it back in?

Is the power cable plugged in?

So it's not a full reversion to the old Gmail, but I really, really, really hate the new right-hand side bar they added.  Really hate.  It breaks all good user experience conventions by moving the scroll bar 20 pixel to the left of the the window where literally every application in the world normally has it, and it serves no purpose aside from duplicating stuff and advertising other Google products.

Here is how you get rid of it:

Worked perfectly for me on Safari, I'm sure Chrome and FF has similar custom stylesheet options.

What are the best options for a non-gmail email account?

If you revert back, you didn't go anywhere.  Or something.

Goddammit, saw thread title, and came in to say this, but see I already done said it almost two years ago.  At least I'm consistent.
