Monday at 03:19 PM2 days Damon, Bernthal, Pattinson, Theron. Great actors all. Nolan has made a few good movies. This might be another. Edited Monday at 03:22 PM2 days by Parliament
Monday at 03:38 PM2 days Nearly the whole story is a flashback so let's see how much he fucks with the timeline
Monday at 03:50 PM2 days I will go see this. There is a LOT of history nerd chatter about the arms and armor choices, and I’m willing to over look that. The Odyssey even in Homer’s time was hazy history combined with legend so I don’t mind the “Ancient Med” visual cues for modern audiences. I did get inordinately annoyed to see what looked like a clinker-built North European longship in the trailer. I looked it up and it is in fact a recreation of a Viking longship! Bugs the shit out of me, like if Jackson dropped a replica Chinese junk or Phoenician trireme into LOTR.
Monday at 05:15 PM2 days I don’t want to be put more pressure on it, but my expectation is this will be the best film in a generation.

Monday at 06:52 PM2 days I go to Nolan films for the sound and score. The actual movie is just a bonus.
Monday at 07:03 PM2 days Why isn’t this a limited series on appletv instead? I’m sure there are 8 hours of content in the source material.

When has Nolan ever done a limited series? The man is solely devoted to film and pushing what can be achieved with IMAX cameras.

It is so expensive to do this right for a two hour movie, eight hours is unreal. I also don’t mind it. It’s an oral tradition. It’s adapting it from the Homeric standard format of storytelling to our standard.

Monday at 08:00 PM2 days Nolan has more misses (Tenet, Dunkirk, Dark Knight rises) than hits (Interstellar, Oppenheimer) since 2010 when inception came out. The math (and that trailer) says this movie is going to fucking suck.

So no, the math in no way says that. And the trailer looks cool. Other than that, nailed it.

The Dark Knight Rises, while not great, certainly is not terrible and it gave us Anne Hathaway mounting the Bat-Bike doggy style in skin tight leather so I'll allow it.
Monday at 09:35 PM2 days The Dark Knight Rises is awesome and is eminently rewatchable. It says a lot about that trilogy that it's considered the weak link.

Monday at 10:43 PM2 days Damon looks like he's going to kill it. Kind of bummed but kind of like that the trailer didn't give much away.

First 3 minutes were leaked on Reddit. It appears legitimate as one scene/frame also appears in the trailer. Not a fan of online leaks, but it gives very little away.
