Oklahoma Hires Cowboys Legend Jason Witten as Tight Ends Coach

The Sooners finalized a deal Thursday to bring in Witten, a 11-time Pro Bowler and recent high school championship coach, replacing Joe Jon Finley amid staff changes under Brent Venables. Witten joins ex-Cowboys teammate DeMarco Murray on the staff, both adding NFL experience after Oklahoma's 6-7 season in 2025. The hire could boost recruiting, especially with Witten's son Cooper, the top 2027 linebacker, predicted to flip his commitment from an early offer to the Sooners.

Follow suit and ship him off to the Talosians, where he can live in a fantasy world where his Cowboys are perennial Superbowl champs.

Big one for the Cowboys tonight. Packers need to lose for the Cowboys to own the 20th pick in the draft. If they win they pick at least five spots later.

Doesn't seem like much. But think about the extra draft pick they could get for trading down from 20 to 25. They need more picks.

I guess Diggs didn't even get activated.

OK, just googled a thing by Mike Fisher that shows he was in on one snap yesterday.

Only way is for him to give up control, which means a coma or some other dehabilitating occurrence. Otherwise, those words are has valuable as all of saying we'd like to fuck all of the Cowboy cheerleaders before this year. Just jibberish.

Good thing they lost.

Much like losing to Washington got us the 12th pick instead of the 18th. Massive difference.

Yep, they keep going for the discount guys that either have serious injury histories or some kind of behavioral issues and think they're getting a first round guy in a scratch and dent sale.

Stop doing that shit.

Do we even have the pick to waste this year? If so just trade it for an actual player already.

They completely fudged the middle of their 2026 draft. They are going to need to learn to squeeze more out of their draft capital instead of reaching for a guard in the top 12 that would have been there later. They are going to have to trade down from one or both of their first round picks to add multiple second and third day picks to have a shot at filling their many needs. It is highly do-able, but but they just don't seem to have sound philosophy in getting the most out of their draft.

you KNOW the wailing will be nuts if they trade away from 12 or 20 with players there.

But I agree...turn those 2 picks into 4-5 top 100 picks

I'm talking about a small move down if they have an opportunity, and multiple players they want at the same tier. For example, dropping from 20 to 25 should yield an extra 3rd round pick if you can find the partner. Trading down a couple of spots from 12 would be even more valuable. They obviously need to nail those first round picks to fill one of their dire needs.

Take last year. They could have traded down a few spots from 12 and still had one of three or four badass players that would have been great picks, and gotten a couple of extra picks. They apparently had the opportunity, but decided to go with the reach for a guard. Never take a guard that high in the draft. He would have probably been there at whatever spot they moved down to. I doubt they learned their lesson.

And trading picks for established players at this point is very tough with their current roster situation, and that's before even dealing with Pickens or even Javonte Williams. They need starting players on their rookie contracts.

I just love stuff like this. It's easy to say, and even I've said Dak has to be better in the playoffs...but do a quick look at points given up by Strouds defenses in all his playoff games and you can see why. He didn't win that game against Pitt. His defense did.

and yet, he's still playing and the Cowboys aren't....

Don't be dense and say it's because of the QB play. It's always been a Team game. They played a worse team than they are...that's why they're still playing. c'mon man.

I agree with your summation, it just proves it's a team game, and only blithering idiots place it on one player. Stroud had not 1, not 2 but 4 fumbles and a pick in Monday night's game, yet some moron posts some stupid post about Stroud inferring he's somehow a superior QB because he has a better defense who bailed him out. Please, I agree.... it's fucking ludicrous and only the tiniest of minds would come to such a conclusion.

Giants apparently getting Harbaugh...... It's been awhile since he's been a better than average HC, but sometimes change is what is needed. His coordinator choices will matter a ton.

#86

Since there's not a general NFL thread and they're our rival. Renderings of the eventual new RFK are out. It's cool they're going back into the city and away from that shitfest suburban stadium.

And Dallas has an OC that NOT ONE OTHER TEAM SERIOUSLY CONSIDERED offering a HC job too.

😂

Wow. That there is some serious copium.

That new Washington stadium is going to be the best looking one of all the new ones over the last several years.

Well he was considered the best o-line coach available and not sure offense was the problem, but anyways.

Not sure how when nothing I said was opinion. But sure...go off like that dumbass pretending playoff wins, when the Defense does ALL the work, is somehow "proof" that one QB is better than another.

Also I, quite literally, said Dak's not been good enough overall in the playoffs. But he's played well enough in 5 playoff games, at least, to win those games...and yet they lost at least 3 of them by giving up well over 30 points on defense.

Agree and thus I agree with @Drew here.

Stroud did EVERYTHING he could to lose that game and the Texans D said “we got this” and won it.
