    Goddamn thread title.

  • Ugh. When I first moved here in 2010 they used to have an old Expedition that neighbors would volunteer to drive around the neighborhood all weekend with a "SECURITY" sticker on it. Fucking stupid.

My wife saw smoke coming from the Terry Black pits today, probably breaking them in .

The camp Bowie location is just weird. Food has been solid the couple times but it’s just weird on setup.

That Holy ‘Que was supposed to be right next to her Forest Park spot, guess now it’s gonna be chillin’ with a 7-11 on the bricks. We should probably set an O/U for it too.

Good sick, at least via the gram. Tallest in the US.

Landmark Lodge is on fire. Dr. Fear gonna have to find somewhere else to bang hookers and cocaine.

You forgot "historic" !!!

Supposedly the old Illusions/Stars/19 other shit-holes it has been over there is for sale, but can’t be a titter anymore. Poor west side.

That whole stretch is just depressing quarter filled strip center after dollar motel after tire shop after shit food stop. A solid F5 straight down that stretch would do wonders for it all.

As long as the Westside Cafe (best breakfast in FW) is spared, I concur.

@Dr Fear, you can finally fucking relax.

The smoke signals at Terry Black’s BBQ show the new $6 million barbecue palace will be open on schedule Dec. 19 at 2926 W. Seventh St., just in time for holiday brisket.

Well, I'm tired of "I can/have done better" BBQ myself around here.

$6M for a bbq joint. Good lord. If it gets taxed at that amount, well over $10k per month in property taxes alone.

Any idea when taco deli is gonna open up on Hulen? Only thing I’ve seen is this fall but that’s just about behind us.

Man, ain’t even heard of that one. Gonna have to educate me.

It’s on Belknap.   Saw it yesterday.   Never been in and not planning on it.  Lololol

Finally went to Gusto’s Burgers off Magnolia.  It’s a mighty fine smashburger and the fries exceptional.  Huge beer selection.

Haven't been here or Hooker's Grill but both are on my radar.  The smashburger at Panther City BBQ is definitely worthy.

I love Hooker’s.  Oklahoma onion burgers, Indian fry bread tacos, and good hot dogs.

And certainly not as expensive as Gusto’s. Those are true smash burgers in that the patties are thin with a heavy crust.  The pic is a triple.  I got the gusto burger as they make it , which is gusto sauce, carmelized onions, best maid pickles.  Next time I’ll get it with mustard, pickles, raw onions.  As I had it the burger was great but very rich

yogis is another good burger. Love the panthers city burger too.

Heim closing in Burleson, will open somewhere in Weatherford next year. Forgot it was Churchill & his boys running that show now.

I like Heim and the new location is good news for me.

Terry Blacks appeared to be hopping tonight. Maybe a soft open? The building looks cool and I look forward to going.

Bub Kennedy posted pics yesterday from what looked like a soft open, prob same thing tonight.

Any idea what’s being built ‘on’ camp Bowie near 30, behind the pnc bank and vacated smoothie king. Construction fence is up.

also, taco deli doesn’t appear to still be a go. Not shocking given restaurant success in general and esp so in this Econ climate plus just the FW factor

Did La La Kind, or whatever the hell it's called, get scrapped?

Looks like they’re just behind schedule as it seems only lately that smoothie king bldg has work being done.

bold move Cotten going in a block away from a sbux drive thru into a bldg that already saw a high premium food big brand fail.

Heim supposedly going in the recently shut down Montana’s in Weatherford.

That does not sound like a good idea at all. That location is shit and access is even worse.

Everything on Facebook has to be true, right? I’m with you though, shitty access, shitty location.

La La Land will print money, but I am a little surprised at their location choice.

That building was our old spy shop. Just east is a shitty strip center. Behind one of the businesses was a goat (Ram? It had the curled horns.) tied to some pipes. Never, ever saw anyone tend to him, but he had water. It was perfectly weird for that part of town.

So we went to Billy Strings on the 11th (dickies arena is awesome) and we’re going to eat at Railhead before. It was packed so we went to the resurrected Pulido’s.  It’s the original on Pulido st.

i loved the old place for basic old time blue collar TexMex.  It was started as a cafe for the area rail and dairy workers and stayed close to their roots for decades before it cratered.

the new place owners are the folks that own JDs, and Margie’s.  It was disappointing.  I like the different flavor profiles I enjoyed growing up at el Chico, el Fenix, Mexican Inn, Pulidos, etc.  it was comforting.  Well they kept the old company menu but not the recipes. it wasn’t bad, my cousin liked it a lot.

the chips and hot sauce were good.  The cheese enchiladas were ok but no onion, and the chili gravy was mostly meat and had slightly scorched.  The tamale was not good and those used to rock.  Taco was a taco. Beans were delarded and rice bland. Iced tea was fresh brewed.

los vaqueros is moving this weekend so we’ll see if they fuck it up.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have it on good authority (sign out front) that World of Beer is back open on 7th.

I went by Terry Black's.  Really love the layout.  Line was long but it went very quickly.

I still think Panther City is better but it was damn good but expensive.

Right on both of these.  Two slices of brisket, two pork ribs, and a drink for $42. No line at 10:45am last Friday. But by 11:30, 20 deep.

A former cowboy steakhouse and bar in Weatherford will become the next Heim Barbecue, co-owner Will Churchill said.

The sprawling former Montana restaurant, 1910 S. Main St., will be remodeled into a large barbecue serving line, bar and patio to open by fall, Churchill said.

Montana closed in December after 25 years, and the contents are up for auction online.

The original Montana in Stephenville, open since 1992, continues at 1376 W. Washington St.

Heim, a Central Texas-style restaurant known for candied pork belly “bacon burnt ends,” closed a Burleson location to move to the new Weatherford space.

The 9,400-square-foot Burleson space, 139 W. Ellison St., is for rent and has drawn interest from several regional grill-and-bar restaurants, Churchill said.

The 6,000-square-foot Weatherford restaurant will have a traditional barbecue service line, a larger bar than other Heim restaurants and a meat market, he said.

“I still think Weatherford is an underserved market for barbecue,” Churchill said.

Much-praised Dayne’s Craft BBQ in Aledo has drawn attention to Parker County.

“Dayne does a great job, but that’s 20 minutes away,” Churchill said.

Texas Monthly magazine has praised the Tailgaters BBQ food truck, 321 E. Oak St., but there is room in the Weatherford market for a larger-volume restaurant with catering, he said.

Heim has three locations in Fort Worth and Dallas. Founders Emma and Travis Heim opened in a food trailer near Interstate 35W at the current Panther City BBQ location, then partnered with Churchill for locations in south and west Fort Worth and near Love Field in Dallas.

Churchill took over running the restaurants in March. The culinary leadership is the same and nothing has changed, he said, except for a couple of the side dishes and new, lower prices.

For example, Heim is now $2-$5 per pound cheaper than the new Fort Worth location of Austin-based Terry Black’s BBQ.

Churchill and his sister, Corrie Fletcher, are also partners with restaurateur Hao Tran in a new Vietnamese cafe and grocery, Duong DeVille, to open in their Entrepreneur Park headquarters complex, 405 S. Loop 820 West (Jim Wright Freeway) in White Settlement.

More restaurant spaces will be available in the horseshoe-shaped complex, Churchill said.

Also, the Churchills recently closed the pizza restaurant and patio at their Fort Brewery, 2737 Tillar St., but kept the adjacent brewery.

The restaurant and patio space is available, Churchill said.

Jesus shit, that's a lot of irons in the fire.

Pretty sure Tailgaters is still in Travis and Emma’s original trailer.

Like Fud and I both called a few weeks ago, the old Montana’s is a shit location for the new Heim.

Also, the only Vietnamese places that are worth a damn are in densely populated Asian communities. Not sure the gypsies are connoisseurs of Pho or Banh Mi.
