It was a glorious celebration that lasted long after last call. Rick Mumford had a great bar and restaurant that I still miss. Never went to Ginger Man but RIP.
October 13, 20187 yr Their food was pretty good too if I remember correctly. Think I used to get their patty melt or something similar.
October 13, 20187 yr Disappointed to hear about Ginger Man. I had some good times there. I appreciated the chill vibe laid back atmosphere. Too bad.Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
October 13, 20187 yr Long time lurker and Arlington Heights resident here. Went to Barrel and Bones in Montgomery Plaza last night. Brisket was way under-cooked, and a can of Community Witbier was $7. Even though the service was excellent and the owner engaging, I probably won't be back.
October 13, 20187 yr Author Anyone wanna do a surly happy hour at Ginger Man this coming week? I would be available Wed or Thurs.
October 15, 20187 yr Anyone make it to Cowtown Brewing Co. This weekend? https://www.star-telegram.com/entertainment/restaurants/bbq/article219941250.htmlSent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
October 15, 20187 yr no but i went to the smoked bbq deal at the stockyards. there is some good bbq in texas.
October 15, 20187 yr bone and barrel had a booth that didnt have hardly any traffic at all. meat church showed up, served beef cheek tacos and chicken fried burnt ends. those burnt ends were incredible. longorias was good as was panther city. had the heim bacon burnt ends for the first time and that is all i will say about that. other standouts were schmidt family, bbq on the brazos, panther city, longorias and hutchins. Cattleack was not very good.

October 17, 20187 yr Select Tarrant/Ft. Worth. Holy fucking shit, Varsity. http://www.barmart.net/ReportSelect.aspx

October 18, 20187 yr My bad, this one is updated through July of this year. http://www.barmart.net/ReportSelect1.aspx Fucking Buck’s kills it.
October 18, 20187 yr $164K for BoomerJack’s, $161K for Twin Peaks, they fucking dominate 76132. $75K for Woody’s ain’t bad.
October 18, 20187 yr When did Woody's stop using the old Lowes movie theater signs? Did Cityview take them away from them?Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
October 18, 20187 yr Anyone been to any of the cocktail week events? I was thinking about going to the gin vs vodka martini battle tomorrow but don't know much about it.

Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk Somebody had told me that Woody's was closed down. I guess it's because the signs were gone. That would have given me the sads.
October 18, 20187 yr Shit, Woody’s will stay open solely for John & Rich to have their own watering hole.

October 19, 20187 yr For a while they used both signs for specials and whatnot, not just the name of the bar. They've been blank for a while now. Just curious.Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

The one by Mambo said "Coldest Jager in Town" forever. In geographically related news, the replacement contractor for the Bryant Irvin bridge has made very significant progress. They are pretty close to completion with 4 lanes on both sides of the bridge.

Went there for a Beer on Sunday. Imperial Marzen and an IPA. Marzen was fine. IPA was solid. Simcoe based. Issue? $8 for a 13.5 oz pour.
October 20, 20187 yr Scrolled thru some of this thread, thinking I would see good reviews for Heim BBQ only to see a bunch of meh. So, any other BBQ in the FW area I should check out?
October 20, 20187 yr Are you Lauren? Quote Hey, Bud! I have family coming in town from Alaska and they’re asking me for the best barbecue. I told them about Heim Barbecue, Smokey’s Ribs and Bailey’s Bar-B-Q — but would love to wow them with a hole-in-the-wall. —Lauren, Fort Worth Besides Heim, Billy’s Oak Acres BBQ on Camp Bowie Boulevard West is one of the best inside Loop 820.. Don’t forget Cousin’s Pit Barbecue — the original on McCart Avenue gets high marks statewide. Outside the loop, there’s Lockhart Smokehouse in Arlington, Jambo’s in Rendon and old-timey Hickory Stick in Everman. (For a short drive, try 407 BBQ in Draper off Interstate 35W north of Texas Motor Speedway. The new toll lane makes it a quick trip.)

October 20, 20187 yr Kennedy also swears that Billy’s has the absolute best CFS in town, he’s mentioned it multiple times recently.
October 20, 20187 yr I've heard that from others about the CFS too. At the old location I think it was only on one day, like a Wednesday special or some shit. At the new location it might be more readily available. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
October 20, 20187 yr Um, they may want to get their menu link fixed though. http://www.billysoakacresbbq.com/ Believe they also have $5 burgers on Tuesdays.
October 20, 20187 yr Panther City is really really good. I didn't know that about Billy's, but I'm not a big CFS fan. That being said, the CFS I had at Horseshoe Hill Cafe was awesome, and everyone I was with loved theirs.
October 20, 20187 yr As much as Heim has been meh the last few times I have been, I would still like to get over there on a Sunday and try their corn dog.Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
October 21, 20187 yr Was with a friend today who really wanted to try Heim, so we did. Sausage was decent, ribs not bad, brisket quality was good and cooked nicely but needed more smoke flavor and bark. The restaurant has a nice setup.
October 21, 20187 yr Glad y'all caught it on a solid day, and the space itself is pretty damn nice overall.
October 21, 20187 yr Kennedy also swears that Billy’s has the absolute best CFS in town, he’s mentioned it multiple times recently. Bud just posted his list of best CFS Facebook. He must be spying on this thread! (Just kidding) Billy's was on there.Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
October 22, 20187 yr Here’s his whole article. https://www.star-telegram.com/entertainment/restaurants/eats-beat/article220423905.html
October 22, 20187 yr Went to the new cajun restaurant in the cursed corner of Montgomery Plaza. Not bad. Had the gumbo and the fried crawfish platter. Only thing that wasn't good was the cole slaw. Price points aren't bad ($4/cup of gumbo and $14 for crawfish platter). It had a nice atmosphere. They only had a partial menu for the weekend. The full menu is supposed to start today.
October 25, 20187 yr Anybody know when Panther City has been selling out? I want to go try it some Saturday but don't want to drive over there too late.Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

You can follow them on FB and they will usually post when they sell out
October 26, 20187 yr One more CFS post... Quote Hey, Bud! Friday is Texas Chicken Fried Steak Day. I noticed your midweek “best” list didn’t mention [chain restaurant]. —Guy who likes chain chicken-fried Yes. I noticed that too. It’s tough to praise a pre-fab chain chicken-fried steak, even when it’s served under fancy black-pepper chipotle gravy. Rather have a homemade, garlicky chicken-fried steak in a hole-in-the-wall like M&M Steak House, or the soft, tender CFS at Mac’s Bar and Grill in Arlington. What chain is he talking about? Because that gravy sounds pretty damn good.

October 26, 20187 yr Damn, I haven’t had Grandy’s in fucking ages, now I want it. I was thinking maybe Black-eyed Pea.
October 26, 20187 yr The Grandys was just a joke... but I had a lot of Grandys as a kid. Their roles were incredible! Is Black Eyed Pea still around? There was a time when their chicken fried was pretty awesome, but that has been a while. I can't think of what chain this guy might be talking about. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
October 26, 20187 yr Grandys CFS is the same CFS they used to serve in school. I tear that shit up once a week
