  • Ugh. When I first moved here in 2010 they used to have an old Expedition that neighbors would volunteer to drive around the neighborhood all weekend with a "SECURITY" sticker on it. Fucking stupid.

Shout out to wild_turkey for his realtor rec, got my house sold in the middle of a damn pandemic and economic shutdown

She is good. She has helped us buy 2 houses and sell 1 house and each time has gone really well.

The huge old Backwoods on west 7th has a big dumpster out front this morning with the doors open, something probably going in soon.

They better get something in there paying rent, building plus land is being assessed at $6.3 million.

Totally Random but what was the old name of The Watermarke Apts on Overton Ridge? The ones just to the East of The Enclave?

Anyone hit up a restaurant for lunch?

Went to Salsa Limón on White Settlement. Had tacos and a marg and sat outside. There were about 8 people there.

Just drove through west 7th and Reservoir, American Gardens and Concrete Cowboy were all open.

How the hell is Concrete Cowboy open? It’s a night club

Edit: didn’t realize the FW location is a restaurant. Weird. It’s a night club only in Dallas. Looks to be same in Austin and Houston.

Yeah, anywhere with food or “groceries” will find a loophole. The Bucket has been open for awhile as long as you bought a $.50 bag of ice.

I looked them up on the TABC search and they strangely show up as "blue" on the gun sign (under 51% alcohol). Reservoir and American Gardens are red.

I guess the city doesn't want to mess with them?

The governor's order is crystal clear on the 51% alcohol distinction, it is just getting ignored. I don't personally have any problem with it.

How badly will Chimy’s/On the Border/Rio Mambo/etc. just blatantly disregard the 25% rule tomorrow?

And a pandemic named after a Mexican beer!

Any recs on a landscape drainage specialist in Fort Worth?  My lot slopes down from the street and the rains the last few days have been flooding the garage.
Bumping this because nobody responded. Anyone? Last time, I promise

I know a lot of guys in a lot of fields, but can’t think of one there.

Still talk to your boy Nagely? He may have crossed paths with one through the years.

You can try Jakes Lawncare or Green Thumb, but both are pricey. Both have done quality work for me, but the bill was outrageous.

Fred’s found some $, will open back up.

Cork & Pig on Crockett is done for good.

All the Fred's or just the one up north? That is the only one I've seen talking about opening back up so far.

I am surprised C&P lasted as long as it did.

Thanks for the recs on the drainage.

Ha, I posted after only seeing a short video of Quincy Wallace talking, now there’s a full article.

Fred’s Texas Cafe, a local burger favorite feared lost forever to a global pandemic, reopened Wednesday selling its “Fred Burgers” to go.

“Fred’s North,” 2730 Western Center Blvd., reopened selling take-out only at lunch and dinner.

The original Fred’s in the West 7th area and a newer Fred’s near TCU will reopen in the next few weeks, co-owner Quincy Wallace said.

For now, Fred’s is serving only its contest-winning half-pound burgers ($6.95), chicken-fried steaks ($13.95), chicken fingers ($4.95) and fries ($2.95).

Fred’s closed March 20 with a murky farewell message on Facebook. It said Fred’s was closing “for now” but sounded worse. for the 42-year-old favorite named for a now-gone family dog.

The closing was due to financial problems that are resolved, Wallace said.

But the restaurant is only serving to-go or delivery for now. Fred’s will add patio service first, he said.

“Right now I’m way more comfortable letting people enjoy our food outside than inside,” Wallace said.

There’s one change at the new Fred’s: to simply orders, the chicken-fried steak is battered with Fred’s original buttermilk-egg wash instead of its more recent sourdough batter, Wallace said.

“It’s just like Gari and J.D. [Chandler, Fred’s founders] did it back in 1984,” he said.

Pretty dumb for the the original not to be back open.  25% occupancy or not, you should be able to make money selling $13.00 cheeseburgers.  They haven't even been doing to go.

Always liked cork and pig, too bad. But so goes FW/west 7 especially in corona times. That bowling alley was psychic pulling the ripcord months ahead of covid!

Another one bites the dust.

A Hoffbrau Steak & Grill House location on South University Drive is closing after 38 years, leaving three area locations for the local midprice steakhouse chain inspired by an Austin landmark.

A Granbury location will reopen Monday. The Hoffbraus in Benbrook and Haltom City will reopen May 18 after taking a break during the coronavirus pandemic shutdown..

The Fort Worth Hoffbrau and its landlord could not agree on the rent, owner Rainey Fogiel said.

“After much negotiation, we were unable to come to an agreement with our landlord that would benefit all parties,” Fogiel said in a statement.

“...We are saddened beyond words at not being able to serve your smiling faces at this location.”

Hoffbrau’s location on the banks of the Clear Fork of the Trinity River and large patio made it a busy stop for crowds leaving the annual pro golf tournament at Colonial Country Club.

It also became an easy stop for families going to or from the Fort Worth Zoo or TCU Horned Frogs games.

The Fort Worth location opened in 1982, four years after Hoffbrau Steak & Grill House began in Dallas as a chain inspired by the 87-year-old Original Hoffbrau Steakhouse in Austin.

The Dallas-Fort Worth Hoffbraus originally had an Austin-themed decor and the same lemon-butter grilled steaks and olive-vinaigrette salad dressing as the Austin restaurant.

The Benbrook Hoffbrau, 8501 Benbrook Blvd., is a 10-minute drive from the Fort Worth location. It’s just off the Chisholm Trail Parkway on Interstate 20 at U.S. 377. A Haltom City location is a 15-minure drive.

When the Fort Worth Hoffbrau opened, it was part of 1849 Village, a shopping center with a movie theater where a hotel stands today.

(Trivia answer: The current restaurant space was built in 1969 and was a Maxiburger and a Crown Galleries gift showroom.)

So, it appears that the Hoffbrau was the last remaining building of the "1849 Village" that sounds like some tourist trap back in the day.

Well this sucks. That one was always my favorite. We used to hit up their lunch menu in high school all the time. I'm pretty sure the first meal I had with my wife was there. The Granbury one is fine, but when I ate at the Benbrook one a few months back it was terrible.

Last time we ate at Hoffbrau it was in Amarillo and it was terrible.

I don’t know if they’re open at night, but last weekend during the day, and again today, they were “to go” only.

Parked their Chimy-mobile sideways  in front of the main door. I guess they mean it.

Based on Insta, the San Marcos one sure as shit ain’t following the rules.

Los Vaqueros in Willow park has been great these past two weekends. It’s reservations only and we’ve been able to get on the patio.

I grabbed take out from them two Wednesdays ago. Good sized meals for two and half prize gallons of margaritas.

Yeah, WP/Aledo area.

I've eaten at Sheps. It has always been fine. Never had anything great, but never had anything terrible.

Their Northside location has been a go to for 21 years now.  The owner and I lived on the same street in Berkeley and played poker every Tuesday.  His brother in law used to manage the Willow Park location until he had a stroke.

Not surprising but the Bird Cafe in Sundance is closing.

They struggled during normal times.

I agree. I think they never got over the eclectic menu they had when they first opened.  The Del Frisco Grill has proven that it isn’t the location.

drove by boomerjacks again yesterday evening.  appears they do not give a shit about the 25% occupancy rule.  or 6' between tables.
