I seriously would like to time-travel back to the day when some rules committee meeting was convening to review the verbiage in the balk rule and find out who and why insisted on adding "The pitcher, while touching his plate, accidentally or intentionally drops the ball."
October 7, 20187 yr There's literally a separate line in the balk rule that says if the pitcher is touching the rubber and drops the ball, it's a balk. But Harold Reynolds doesn't think it's a balk. That is not surprising.
