my 67 year old mom is out of town visiting her homegirl, and she just sent me a video of her pulling over on the side of the road just to pay tribute to Sweet Dee and her P Diddy yacht party dance mov

  • Edit to point out that I saw this on Reddit so it isn't my personal photo and not sure if its real.

I have idea what I just watched.

And it's not going to get any better. AP Bio was picked up for a second season, so likely no Howerton for Season 14.

1) kinda glad they didn't put a gag in at the end or anything.  weird shift of tone, but just in and of itself it was fairly beautiful.  kinda beautiful in the context of the "actual" version of the caricature that is Mac.  But super fucking weird for them to do that on this show

2) I always thought it was weird that Mac got super fat in season 6 or 9 or whenever it was and they didn't actually get a ton of comedic payoff out of it.  A bunch of little jokes and an episode, but it always seemed like Rob McElhenney wanting to go for a "thing" and it not paying off.  I guess that whole dance sequence was the primary thing he wanted to do with the "Mac is ripped" thing.  Or perhaps he just wanted to get ripped in real life (and maybe dabble in modern dance?) and so they worked it in.

Watching it right now. Three all time greats in a row. D.E.N.N.I.S. System, the Lethal Weapon parody, and the flip cup tournament.

I listened to an interview with Danny DeVito today. He said they'd like to do one to two more season. No specifics on a time frame or if Howerton would be involved.

The fucking lawn on flip cup took it over the top

So, taking a temperature on what y'all are feeling about this season so far.

Besides the hilarious Thundergun 4 episode, it's been kinda meh.

Also, has Sweet Dee gotten some face work done?

they've been off their game for years now, aside from an episode or two here and there. this season isn't any worse than any of the previous several seasons. pretty much par for the course.

I liked episode last night, but the meerkat thing felt like another writing staff/cast inside joke. Are they hug Animal Planet fans?

Take the time to pause it and read the long form text messages Mac sent to Dennis. Hilarious.

I thought the episode was pretty good.  Dee being late on the texts was funny.  Dennis yelling at her for texting the bundle of sticks as being insensitive, then cracking up at the queen emoji was good.

The bit of Mac being in love with Dennis has run its course though.

Yes, and I hate it

I actually think this season has been much better than the last several seasons. That being said, the zoo episode was my least favorite so far.

every single bit in the entire show was telegraphed. the guys peeing on Mac, Dee getting stranded, Dee getting run over by goats, Frank getting bested by the gorilla- this was really, really bad stuff. Always Sunny should be a lot better than this. And again with the Mac being this weird, whiny, Dennis-loving character- this stuff is all just so bad compared to when the show was its best. between the telegraphed bits and the lazy, rehashed sitcom staple gags (the whole "what? i can't hear you" bit at the beginning) this was objectively bad TV. CBS level bad.

Not even close.  And no, it was not objectively bad TV, it was subjectively bad.  To you.

I don't know about this show anymore.  These guys are either completely out of new ideas or have forgotten what made the show funny in the first place.  This isn't the same show.  It feels like a cartoon with caricatures loosely based on what used to be "It's Always Sunny."  Obviously there's still people that like it and watch it, so more power to you.  I'm close to checking out.

It feels like we're in TWD territory.  Just making the show to keep it going but having no idea where to go with it.

Charlie: “He’s gonna wake up with his head pounding harder than a Chinese crossword puzzle.”

Waitress: “Huh?”

Charlie: “That one wasn’t clear?”

another bad episode (also really poorly edited somehow), but lots of T&A. and Dee's story at the end was pretty funny.

That’s what at least 3, maybe 4 bad episodes in a row? The gang just seems tired.

AP Bio has already passed current/recent It’s Always Sunny in every conceivable way. Howerton made a good decision if AP can take off on  Universal Streaming app.

alright i'm only two minutes into this episode ("Paddy's Has a Jumper" just came onto the screen) and it's already the funniest two minutes of the season by a Landslide, pun intended. i lol'd HARD at Dee's, "COP!" and the ensuing actions of the gang. promising start.

dude the editing on this season is weird. there's a whole bunch of times where the words said by the characters don't match what their lips are doing.

Maybe the vice channels super-woke editorial staff is in charge now.

It's fun watching old Sunny episodes on vice to see which non-woke words all those hard working sjw's are gonna bleep out.

Just watched the season finale.

This certainly was a season, I can say that.

This needs to be taken out back and put out of its misery.

Vice bleeped out “whore” in an episode from 2006. I assume Vice would prefer “sex worker”?

how in the HELL am i just now realizing that Z is Cutty from The Wire?!

I assume y'all are familiar with Waiting for Godot.  That last episode would make more sense if you are.

My youngest had us watch the Quarantine episode last night in light of current events (season 9 episode 7 I think).  Holy shit that was off the rails hilarious.

I'm still working my way through the series with a few episodes a week.  About 2/3 of the way through season 3.

The quarantine episode is one of my all time favorites.  The reveal of what was actually wrong with them and their decision to keep healthy by getting drunk again was classic Sunny.
