Good discussion in the first 15 minutes:

Stew and Bruce start this weeks episode of The Audible discussing the Red River Showdown from last Saturday (1:00); they get into Floridas big win over LSU (15:45); How they feel about Washington at this point in the season (21:15); This weekends big Pac-12 South game between Colorado and USC (27:45); and they wrap up the show answering your questions in the mailbag (44:00).  Trader Joes is the presenting sponsor of The Audible.

It's on FoxSportsGo I rewatched today.

Works with my internet provider even though I don't have cable.

This fucking rules:

That’s awesome. I’ve forgotten what it’s like to win. But I could get used to it again real soon!

That foxsports go edited replay with missing game and extra commercials was about to get bitch slapped.'

Thank you!

92,300 fans in attendance at the Cotton Bowl on Saturday weren’t the only ones who witnessed Texas’ 48-45 win over Oklahoma.

FOX Sports has announced that the 113th edition of the Red River Showdown drew a 4.3 metered market rating. According to the company’s PR department, that was the highest-rated sporting event televised on Saturday. FOX has yet to televise a higher-rated college football game this season.

FOX also aired Texas wins over USC and TCU. UT’s games against Maryland and Kansas State were shown on FS1.

I found it interesting that OU has yet to stop a 4th down attempt all year. Interesting, but not surprising.

Also, OU sucks.

Texas. Forever.

A few other notes on replay...

A. Beck is an incredibly important player in our success. Even in pass pro, dude does it all.

Sterns had a rough day

the general thought we went conservative in the 4th is just incorrect, penalties killed us and ou tackled a little better. The 3rd and 2 rollout screen we checked to at the line was a special brand of retarded.

We went conservative in the 4th quarter.

First drive: holding (run play), holding (run play), run, run, short pass, punt

Second drive: run, run, short pass (first down), run, run, QB hurry, punt

Third drive: holding (run play), short pass, long pass (incomplete), long pass (incomplete)

So we tried to run first on each drive, and went to the pass only when we had to. I agree that the holding calls were devastating, but still the intent was always to burn clock, not to attack the Swiss cheese OU secondary.

Those negated runs were all effective and what we had done the entire game, and our passing game was short almost all day save for wheel route and collin bomb. The third drive alone proves it wasn't a total 'prevent offense' with the passes, esp the incomplete low % throw deep to CJ. The game plan didn't really change besides the tempo and getting flagged for holding.

Even Herman admitted the 3-20 tunnel screen that went for 18 on effort was solely called to add yards to the punt, so the offense wasn't called much differently at all, just shack kinda sucks (think he had 2/3 holds)

So are we now considering any run call on first down "conservative"?

Yes.

All the incomplete passes sucked, but ironically maybe saved us the time needed for the last drive.

One thing though is that when the defense knows you will snap the ball with 1 on the play clock, the offense loses the advantage of knowing the snap count and the OL firing out a fraction before the DL reacts.  Which can change the effectiveness of the play. I wouldn’t be averse to snapping on 2 or 3 some times to try and catch them clock watching.

Sam and kyler had similar yards from scrimmage and tds, right?  But kyler had an int and fumble lost. Not sure about the grading there.

Kyler also had something like 10-15 fewer plays. I think that factors in.

They've also given up scores on 100% of red zone drives.

Colt and Shipley are roommates.

Hide? To be sneaky? Or because he was scared to go back on the field?

The old "lie down in the end zone so the coverage team doesn't see you" trick. Worked for TCU and has worked in the past, but the Horned Frogs threw a forward pass instead of a lateral.

Yep, had we just run QB power twice to pick up the first down had Sam not gotten it on 3rd down, Texas would have run out the clock with a 14 point win.

I really wish overdrive or media woulda asked TH about that screen (to be honest, I'm guessing it was a screen as it's hard to tell)... was it sams check, was he given instructions to ground it if it wasn't totally open, was it supposed to go to the WR on boundary side, was it just good d... it looked like total shit whatever it was

In retrospect, a sluggo at any point of those 3 drives woulda been so money.

Cuts off at mid thigh pad on Sam. Below the kneepads on the ewok.

the misery of the land thieves is so intoxicating. i love when they are so disheveled they cant even comprehend menial things. this is why college football is superior to any other level.
The 2005 Orange bowl was outstanding in that regard. The walmarts in sofla were full of shell shocked sooners the next day.

i was just over to one of the swooner boards and was surprised to find the mood more elevated than expected.  apparently they take the loss to mean simply what it took to rid themselves of the final stoops.

that's funny.  i'm remembering back to when they mourned that they just couldn't get him loose from 'zona to be with his bro where he was supposed to be.  then he got fired and returned to norman, but the magic defenses didn't come with him as expected.  how could li'l stoops reach his potential with that creep venables mucking up the works, they said.  they couldn't stand it that they couldn't get rid of venables.  who, of course, turns out to be why they were as good as they had been to that point.

so now it's stoops who has held them back.  if linkin' doesn't go all comfort-level with ruffie and hires the biggest name money can buy, they will finally have the defense they've lusted for since mikey stalked the sidelines the first time around.

when will they learn that those great defenses were because of the players switzer stocked the program with for his pal john blake.  the stoops brothers never had the eye for talent that switzer had, nor has anyone else there.  say what you will about ol' barry.  that dude knew a player when he saw one.

Awesome man, thanks for posting.

I still can't believe we pulled it off. Herman, you're doing a damn fine job of winning me over, so please don't fuck it up. Let's dominate on Saturday.

I'm still basking in the glow of sending these overrated, arrogant turds out with an L. Kyler Murray playing scared and Lincoln Riley acting like a bitch were the icing on the cake. Firing Mike Stoops might help them a bit, but that it won't fix their softness.

The game being last week vs this week worked out nicely because it is raining like a motherfucker here in Dallas. Would've been playing a monsoon or having a long weather delay because there's lightning here.
