The Angels announced that they have selected left-hander Dillon Peters and optioned righty Jaime Barria. The club outrighted Peters last winter.

The 28-year-old Peters appeared in the majors during the previous four seasons with the Marlins and Angels. Peters has recorded a 5.83 ERA/5.22 SIERA with a 16.7 percent strikeout rate and a 9.9 percent walk rate over 132 2/3 big league frames. He has also had trouble at the Triple-A level, where he has logged a 6.15 ERA in 169 2/3 innings.

And Hoby back down yesterday.

It’d be pretty awesome having him and Kingham in the same rotation. We need to start pumping out big leaguers again

The Rockies announced that that infielder Rio Ruiz has been claimed off waivers from the Orioles.  Infielder/outfielder Bret Boswell has been designated for assignment to create roster space for Ruiz.

——

Boswell was selected out of the University of Texas in the eighth round of the 2017 draft.  After posting some big numbers in his first two pro seasons, Boswell spent the 2019 season with the Rockies’ Double-A affiliate, but hit a modest .219/.290/.397 over 404 PA.

That ain’t ideal for Bret.

The Giants are placing first baseman Brandon Belt on the 10-day injured list with a mild left oblique strain and recalling infielder Jason Vosler, per manager Gabe Kapler. Kapler doesn’t expect Belt to miss more than 10 to 14 days, and in the meantime, Darin Ruf will get the lion’s share of playing time at first base. Even a short absence for Belt could be a tough blow for the contending Giants, though, considering he’s off to a .228/.350/.447 start with eight home runs in 137 plate appearances.

Also, Nick Senzel will be out 4-6 weeks for Cincy, which is the best possible news for Payton. He hasn’t done much in limited opportunity so far.

Not quite the "pros", but whatever.

Will Bill be there to cheer him on?

Talked to the Elder’s Sunday. Starting tonight’s game.  Didn’t want to say anything till it was official.

Old teammate and buddy of mine is the bullpen coach for the Braves. Need to shoot him a text.

Tres starting for the Nats today.

Just got his first career hit!

Watched an entertaining fireworks show between the Skeeters and Express tonight at Dell Diamond.

CJ Hinojosa had a nice night at the plate going 2-for-5 with a 2B, HR, and 4 RBI.

His bases-loaded double in the top of the ninth proved to be the winning hit for the Skeeters, erasing a 9-7 deficit and winning 11-9.

The silent treatment thing has to be the stupidest tradition in pro sports.

Congrats to Tres, repping the RGV well so far this year. Dude was a pretty raw QB for sharyland too back in the day for those that didn’t know.

Barring a trade this season of Toro and/or others, I doubt C.J. gets a chance with the Astros but damn I love watching him in the minors and am rooting for him to stick in the big leagues. He's a ballplayer.

can we get a more underwhelming call for a ball that was just crushed?

That is the OKC dodgers broadcast. You can see the dodgers watermark in the bottom right of the screen.

Dillon Peters starting today for the Pirates.

Lost 2-1. Only gave up one earned in 4 2/3.

He’s already done. 1 hit allowed in a scoreless inning.

Thought it was early return from injury.

We may have only had Antico for one season but it may go down as one of the best any transfer has had with regard to the overall success of a team. Wish we could've had him for another but glad he came here when he did 🤘🏾

yeah Antico did more in one season here than a lot of guys do in four. definitely going to remembered as a great Longhorn despite just playing the one season for Texas.

Damn, 44 stolen bases this year. Gotta be close to leading MILB

I’ve got good news and bad news. The good news is you’ve been promoted. The bad news is it’s to Biloxi.

Elder-Madden-Hansen would’ve been pretty awesome in 2020. Sigh….oh well
