Why did he go to Purdue again?

He was too short to get interest from the major programs. Also the spread/air raid wasn't a thing yet, Michael Vick was just beginning to revolutionize the game and pro-style offenses with tall pocket passers were still the norm.

Still confused about that. With this defense it might matter.

If Wash gets 7 here, it suddenly becomes real big.

That moment on the sideline with his children was awesome. So wholesome.

Tuned in right as they replayed it.  What did he say/do on the sideline?

Is the Triplett guy special needs? He could barely form sentences, kept talking about a “3rd foot”, and was wrong about the call.

He was one of the worst referees in the NFL when he was a active, so it makes perfect sense that ESPN picked him up as a rules expert.

Plus, Mack was such an astute judge of QB talent.

Lol, the NFL is so stupid. The gave the Saints a 15 yard celebration penalty on that.

That's Goodell for you.

Mack wasn’t here yet.

Flashback to Drew Brees' days at high school and Purdue. Brees explains that he wasn't recruited highly because he was too short, and coaches viewed him as a 'system QB'.

Really?

2001 NFL Draft

2 32 San Diego Chargers Drew Brees  QB Purdue Big Ten

1973–1974 Florida State (student/WR)
1975–1977 Southern Miss (WR)
1978 Memphis State (WR)
1979 Iowa State (WR)
1980–1981 Iowa State (OC)

Tell me how Mack didn't whiffed on Brees when he'd been at Texas for 3 years.

Wasn't Brees first year in college 97 or 98?

I'm surprised he hasn't overdosed by now. Dude is barely coherent these days.

Ah yes, who could forget Mack passing on Drew Brees in the first round of the 2001 NCAA Draft.

Hey, what can I say.   I'm a functioning drunk.

The Redskins defense sucks
Just wait until they play Dallas. They will become the 85 Bears

Fuckin Mack Brown screwed up the team before he even got here.

Garrett would have kicked there, but it’s fucking over now.

Don't think Smith could have made a worse throw if he tried

I’m not disputing that he’s a good quarterback, but texas in the late 90s was a machine.  he wasn’t talented enough to play here, period.

he went 32nd overall

And there were 31 teams in the NFL at the time.

Taysom Hill runs for a touchdown........

Right. Every team passed on him. I think he’s proven himself as first round worthy.

He was the 2nd QB taken, I guess the Patriot and the Colts passed up on Brees too
