Great choice.  That song's a gut punch.

Jason Isbell "Elephant"

Bruce Robison - Angry all the Time

Vern Gosdin - Chiseled in Stone

Sorry about that previous post.  Here's what I was trying to post earlier.

Billy Joel - Allentown and Goodnight Saigon

John Mellencamp - Rain on the Scarecrow

Crying - Roy Orbison

In Dreams - Roy Orbison

Blue Bayou - Linda Ronstandt

I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry - Hank Williams

One of my best friends would’ve picked the same 3 songs as you...

You don’t happen to live in Denver do you?

Not lately.  Lived there when I was a kid.  How about this one?

This Antlers record is the most beautiful, gut wrenching thing just about ever.

^ Love 10cc

How Can I Help You Say Goodbye - Patty Loveless

Everybody Hurts - REM

The Streets of Philadelphia / The River - Springsteen

The Living Years - Mike & The Mechanics

Have You Seen Her - Chi - Lites

The Winner Takes It All - ABBA

The Grand Tour.  May be the greatest of all time feel bad songs.

Anytime you have a kid in the mix, that song is going to rip your heart out.

If you write a song that makes this old farrier cry, you may have written the saddest song ever.

Posrep for "Elephant".

Two More:  Cowboy Junkies Lament by TVZ

Flowered Dresses:  Written by Karen Posten from Austin, but Slaid does the better version.  Her version is kind of happy....his isn't.  Especially the line,

"And I was sitting in the hallway on the night he left
Huggin my knees, holding my breath
I never knew why but he was damn sure gone
Thought it was maybe my fault"

And Shox beat me to it.  Sam has an entire catalog of sad, sad tunes.

Todd's song about Eddy Shaver:  Makes me cry almost every time I hear it.

From Todd's debut record.  Talk about depressing.
