October 11, 20187 yr Yeah that's right. Home of the world's largest pecan. Matadors. TLC (now U). Going to my 35th high school reunion. We are at the ABQ Sunport now. Shenanigans have started.
October 11, 20187 yr Class of 2001 here. Place has changed a ton since I graduated, so I can’t imagine what the change is like for you old fart
October 11, 20187 yr Spent some time back in high school working on a ranch outside of Seguin. There wasn't much around 30 + years ago - although, iirc, it had four Dairy Queens.
October 12, 20187 yr Guys, it's pronounced Se-gwin. I used to chuckle at the Doppler radar computer when it said storms moving toward si-jin.
October 12, 20187 yr Was not expecting to ever see a thread about Clean Seguin ..... Class of 92. The taproom at the Seguin Brewery is pretty nice.
October 12, 20187 yr From suburban Seguin? The power plant restaurant on the river is one of my favorite lunch places in the state.
October 12, 20187 yr Who knew so many degenerates from Seguin would find their way to Surly. Seguin was a great place to grow up, and still has the best breakfast tacos I've ever had in my life. They've got a ton of strong places, but none will top the now closed Taqueria Gonzalez that was over near Guadalupe St. south of Kingsbury. Can't tell you how much I would pay for just one more order of 1 Bacon, egg and cheese, 1 Chorizo egg and cheese, a cup of menudo, and a lemonade from that place
October 12, 20187 yr I refer to Seguin as Breakfast taco capital of the world. There has to be more Taquerias per capita than any other town. Glad to see that you know about Taqueria Gonzalez. That place was #1 ranked on our family list forever. I do miss the King Pao chicken from Dragon Place. Nobody else makes it like them.

October 15, 20187 yr Class of 95. I miss the fuck out of some Dragon Place. Why do I find it entirely believable that Radical Larry is from Seguin?
October 31, 20187 yr Would have been class of 2001 but moved midway through my sophomore year. For a CSB, my great-great grandfather was the guy the built the initial hydroelectric plant in Seguin.
October 31, 20187 yr had our family reunion there this past summer at the power plant, that place is pretty kick ass.

When we've sat in the old building that is actually over the water where the turbines were, the service was a bit slow. I think when you get sat over there you almost get forgotten.
October 31, 20187 yr i can see that; we were in the outdoor bar area out back and probably had a little better experience. the venue is really great. i wish they would do something like that in sugar land with the old sugar factory
October 31, 20187 yr Yeah i'm glad you're having a good time, but is there a consensus as to who the town is named for? Asking for a friend.
November 1, 20187 yr hits close to home, had breakfast sunday at El Olvido Hacienda, passed about 10 to 12 taquerias on the way there (all of them very busy)

Hell, we used to take field trips to his grave site Yeah, well there is a newspaper clipping from back in the day that refers to it as Walnut Seguin Springs but more importantly the word Seguin is actually Choctaw German and since the very existence of that word predates the person in our Texas history, TRUE history is on the side of the predated use of the word and not the cited history for over 100 years. So some say the city was named after Juan Seguin but not all our history supports that so the logical thing to believe is that it is not true. Seguin is the german word for ogre that lives under bridge by the way. And don't ask me why they just didn't keep it Seguin Springs if it wasnt named after good ole Johnny. It sounds ridiculous i know but i assure you i'm right. Edited November 1, 20187 yr by RollLeft
November 1, 20187 yr Yeah, I knew it used to called Walnut Springs, but never knew about the German twist
November 2, 20187 yr RIP, Chaparral Golf Club.It had been a shit hole for years. Fun layout, but after the Bandit opened, its days were numbered. Seguin can’t support three courses. Can barely support two
November 2, 20187 yr I just liked it because my friend's parents live on it and her dad worked there part time, so we always played for free.
November 2, 20187 yr Anybody ever lay in pipe in Sequin? Almost hooked up with a TLC chick one time, but started getting the "crazy" vibe and backed the fuck off. edit: Me backing the fuck off, not her. To be clear. Edited November 2, 20187 yr by Steel Shank
