Anyone else planning to jerk off during totality ?

We haven’t had rain in about three weeks, so of course it starts pissing down right when this shit is supposed to start.  Texas weather is so fucking stupid.

I made it to Marion, OH by about 1:30. Stopped at a Speedway to relieve myself. I was heading toward the fairgrounds but then I was passing by Harding High School and noticed an almost empty parking lot with these two ladies parked and sitting in their chairs. There are only a few other cars in the lot. I’m counting 9 total not including mine. It’ll probably fill up more by eclipse time but I got a good spot close to the exit for easy getaway. Eclipse glasses passed the test. I’m ready to go.

Let's go burn down the observatory so this never happens again!

where's the ketchup?

Still can't see shit.

My daughter drove down the road with some friends in ATVs to do some "recon". As if a mile would make a difference. They just reported back. "Nothing to see except a group of old people sitting around a table drinking beer and playing cards."

Change of plans. We canceled the trip to Austin because of weather and are now in the Walmart parking lot in Gatesville. A few clouds but quite tolerable. Glad we decided to pull the kids out of school and drive three hours to get here.

I’m out in Crawford.  Less cloud coverage than even in Waco.

“And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it’s sinking…”

I just saw it for like 4 seconds!

Fucking clouds.

Alright... clearing up a little bit out here in 78735.

We just had peak coverage here.  About 50%.  A few people had the glasses I was able to borrow.

Cloud cover just got very heavy. Can’t see the sun if I tried.

Keep trying.

I actually like the thin cloud cover we have. The cheap glasses aren’t dark enough with a less than 50% eclipse.

Looking at it happen in real time you kind of realize how precise everything has to line up for it to happen.

I don't care what kind of glasses you give me. I'm not looking at the sun. The first time I do that, "Huh, looks like your glasses malfunctioned. Sorry you're blind now."

Sitting down on campus (LBJ) just caught 4 seconds of a peek through the clouds. It's something I guess

The number of people staring up at the clouds with no glasses is non trivial.

I’ll see an eclipse in 7 hrs

I mean they’re cool and all, but eh. I would like to at least see totality. But I would rather see a super nova that is lit up
