October 14, 20187 yr I've always thought that when an artist produces a Christmas album, they've jumped the shark. Today I see Eric Clapton has a new album out called Happy Xmas. Sad day.
October 15, 20187 yr Wrong. Nat King Cole's The Christmas Song Frank Sinatra's A Jolly Christmas Willie Nelson's Pretty Paper Beach Boys' Christmas Album
October 15, 20187 yr and all of these, have about 10 of them, scratched to hell but they still play..

October 15, 20187 yr Right. That's my point. The 50s, 60s crooner types like Deano, Sammy Davis Jr, Nat King Cole, Sinatra, hell even Elvis. Christmas songs weren't that far off from their existing genres. Guys like the Beach Boys and Willie were doing Christmas albums at the height of their popularity. Modern artists tend to do them on the downslope of their careers (Dylan, Rod Stewart, Clapton). Plus most modern Christmas albums just plain suck.

October 15, 20187 yr This album is legit good. This track, featuring Leon Bridges, is the best post-60's modern Christmas song I've ever heard. Edited October 15, 20187 yr by Grandioso

October 15, 20187 yr We listen to this album every year coming home from Thanksgiving at my in-laws. I tend to like hard rock/ metal, but this sucker just sounds like Christmastime to me. Might be eligible for "Things about which i am slightly Embarrassed" thread. When Love Came Down may be my alltime favorite Christmas song.

November 21, 20187 yr I also love She & Him's Xmas album -- partly because I want to do unholy things to Zooey Deschanel but it's also a great little album to have on while opening presents on Xmas morning. I think the Old 97's have a new Xmas album coming out.
