October 22, 20223 yr Coming in high on Earl under steam is a tough way to do business. Not a physics major clearly.

Like many in his generation, my son is not a football fan, but I showed him Earl's highlights and his mind was blown.

May 17, 20232 yr Author Popular Post So, you think you had it rough growing up? “Traces of Texas reader Wylie Gober was nice enough to send in this circa 1975 photo of Earl Campbell at home in Tyler, Texas. The house was on a 14-acre plot of land from which the Campbells eeked out a living growing roses, raising their own hogs etc... Said Earl's mother, Ann Campbell: "I've been on this corner for 32 years, and all my life I never had to file an income tax return, never had no money in a bank. What little we made on the roses we spent right here. We had to take a lot of our clothes from the Salvation Army, stuff we could get for 25¢ or so. My kids were never crazy, though. They never refused to wear other people's old clothes. We grew all the food we needed. In the spring I'd slaughter a calf or a hog and we'd have our beef and pork for the year." About this house, Earl said in 1977, "It's not much to somebody coming in, but to me, it’s the world. We don’t have much, but we’re happy with what we’ve got. I’m happy and I’m loved. That’s all I want. Without love, you’re nobody.” Earl, who was one of eleven children, made his mother famous in the speech in which he accepted the Heisman trophy. Said Earl, "You know, when I was a kid and I’d get in trouble, I’d always want to say, ‘Hey, Momma, I’m in trouble.’ So, hey, Momma, I’m in trouble!” The entire room burst into laughter. Ann Campbell passed away in 2009. She was 85 years old.” https://www.facebook.com/TracesofTexas/posts/pfbid0mqfVEPysGeeBSTRh2pBQutnHuyzzF7J191BtzteTRUov9aP3pTAwokHcMVUrwBTgl Edited May 17, 20232 yr by Cairn Horn88

August 12, 20232 yr Popular Post Me and my son were flying outta abia in July headed to montana for a boys only fishin and yellowstone park trip. Ran into Earl. I said hook em as he passed. I didnt wanna bug him although hes my hero and reason I fell in love with the horns when I was little. He was so freaking cool and approachable. He slowed and I asked my boy if he knew who this was and he said Earl Campbell? Campbell stopped and asked well who is this youngster? My boy told him his name and Earl asked my boy if he could take a picture with him. So cool and gracious. Asked my boy where we were headed and earl told him, man I wish I was going to montana, Im jealous. All with a huge smile. So cool and my boy was stoked. Wifi on united allowed us to watch earl highlights all the way to montana. All time fav. Hook em tyler rose. You made a kids year!
