So, you think you had it rough growing up? “Traces of Texas reader Wylie Gober was nice enough to send in this circa 1975 photo of Earl Campbell at home in Tyler, Texas.  The house was on a 14-ac

The unreal part of that play is Earl didn't really even have a head of steam.  He took one step and leveled Robertson.

I hope those two clowns paid to take a picture with Earl.

Pete probably picked Earl's pocket from back there.

I love EARL as much as anyone or more, but c'mon man.

Maybe one clown/actor/wrestler, but.....Betting/gambling had nothing to do with Pete getting over 4000 hits.

23 seasons (during real Baseball not watered down by expansion clubs), with 17 yrs as an All Star. RoY, A league MVP, 3 World Series, WS MVP, 2 Gold Gloves, Silver Slugger and 3 batting titles.

He may have messed up after his playing days and wasn't truthful, but there are guys in Cooperstown that did much worse WHILE PLAYING that don't have anything close to that resume.

Not only was Earl Campbell much better at football than Pete Rose was at baseball, but Pete Rose is indeed a clown. As a person, he's a clown. My post was not only reasonable but also accurate. Ric Flair is a professional clown, Pete Rose is just a clown.

He is not in the picture. I guess he could be a ghost runner like in sandlot baseball.

Benson was an all time great high school RB and a very very good college RB. He had a good NFL career. But he's not in the same class as Campbell and Williams. Jamaal Charles would be the third for multiple reasons, including the fact that if you have Campbell and Williams then Charles would compliment them as the speed back.

My bad for putting Cedric, our second leading rusher in school history, in a mythical wishbone back field that includes Vince, Ricky, and Earl.

It's definitely not Sam Bowie

I’ve never been much of an NBA fan, so I haven’t seen much of him in almost 40 years. I reckoned someone who looks like he’s 60 and would dwarf VY if he stood up might be LaSalle Thompson.

RB's haven't gotten much bigger, but OL's in the 70's and  early 80's were tiny by today's standards.  Average would certainly be under 275, probably closer to 260.

There were other backs the size of the Earl in his day, but nobody with the speed and punishing running style.

That '69 title team's biggest guy was 275.  The rest were 225 or smaller.  They started getting bigger in the 70s and much bigger in the 80s.

Earl was just strong.

No.  Pete was to baseball what Earl was to football.  He was a winner who gave 110% every moment he was on the field.

That doesn't have anything to do with the fact that Pete Rose the person is a clown.

Needs his full legal name on the card to be worth more.   Earl Fuckin’ Campbell.
