June 21, 20196 yr From what I can gather over the last half hour, Jaxson will be playing for the New Orleans Hawks.
June 21, 20196 yr Appreciate it. Just saw this: The Atlanta Hawks have acquired the No. 4 pick, Virginia guard De'Andre Hunter, in Thursday's NBA draft from the New Orleans Pelicans for the No. 8 (Texas center Jaxson Hayes), 17 and 35 picks, league sources told ESPN. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/27019018/hawks-trade-4-get-uva-hunter The Pelicans are going to be YOUNG!

June 21, 20196 yr Congrats to Jaxson. Go ball out. Also, I’ve enjoyed watching Maria Taylor do interviews.
June 21, 20196 yr So Shaka now has more first round draft picks at Texas than he does NCAA tournament appearances (not even wins, just bids) in four seasons? Just want to make sure i have that cognitive dissonance right.

June 21, 20196 yr In true UT-alum-plays-lights-out-once-liberated-from-college form, Hayes will probably be a 25-15-10 guy average his first 5 years, and make a few All-Star teams. Congrats to him anyway for moving on from the shitshow here.
June 21, 20196 yr What a spot to land. All media focus on Zion. The Ball circus attracts more media. All opponents d focus on Zion. Cajun food.

June 21, 20196 yr I'm confused, I know the NBA first round is a big wheel-n-deal show. And I don't care to know any details since I'll be watching my usual 9 minutes of NBA action next year...........but will Jaxson Hayes be playing for New Orleans or Atlanta?

June 22, 20196 yr When is this guy getting fired? Barnes got canned when he failed to make the NCAA one time... When is he getting a Point Guard?
June 22, 20196 yr There is some risk for the Pelicans in taking this pick but I like taking the high risk high reward approach given the Pelicans' current situation. If you can imagine a fully realized lineup of say Lonzo, Holiday, BI, Zion, and Jaxson (worry big time about the shooting though) then you potentially have a really scary defensive group. I think that is five potential elite defensive players all on the floor at the same time. It will definitely take some time though as I think Jaxson is going to have big adjustment issues early with even little things like fouling too much.
July 8, 20196 yr Supposed to make his Summer League debut tonight. https://www.nola.com/sports/pelicans/article_7a94a79e-a119-11e9-8be7-5bd12c5d19b3.html
July 9, 20196 yr Author here's an extended clip including him blocking a shot against the backboard with his elbow.
July 9, 20196 yr Looks like the kind of kid who could help a college team squeak into the NIT ... with the right coaching.

July 9, 20196 yr all of a sudden, NOP is a fun team to watch . Should be massive levels of dunks with Zion and Hayes. Also, JJ Reddick is going to have a ton of open looks. I can't see NOP missing the playoffs, unless injuries.
July 9, 20196 yr If our players were instructed to throw alley-oops to Jaxson instead of all the threes they bricked, I'm pretty sure our record would have been better last year.
July 9, 20196 yr I know we have a ton of basketball geniuses on here and even though I hate Shaka as well the NBA game is way more wide open and fits what Jaxson does more than college where teams literally clog the lane with old fashion Zone defenses. And when you have no shooters and are trying to force a lob to our bigs it is easy to take what Jaxson does away in college. He has a crazy bright future though in the NBA. But I agree fuck shaka and I hope he gets fired this year.
