One liners are as easy as Alabama sorority girls.

One liners are easy. Pretending to care about the deficit is hard.

Again, everything you say is bullshit. For someone supposedly all about intellectual discourse, it is strange that you haven't actually attempted to engage in any substantive way on this thread.  Trust me, you are a fraud and hypocrite. It is science.

Before anyone accuses me of hypocrisy for those one liners, I don't actually believe either of those statements and all the people I have met from Alabama are wonderful people.

It’s Bammer, you humorless fuckwad.

Like I said, one liners elude you.

Did you really think tired similes about slutty sorority girls and redneck incest were going to be funny?

Stay in your lane.

What you're missing about this board is that the snark, snide, and insults - sometimes good-natured, sometimes not - are part of what keeps this place interesting. Sure, it can get out of hand, but it would be a lot less entertaining without them. So a good one-liner (you've got to work on that) about BT's physical and chemical hygiene is by no means out of place. Just be sure you can take it as well as dish it out.

This is of course correct. As are many of the observations that Aphelion has made regarding the general decline in the discourse here, and across the political space generally.

A Republican bitching about declining discourse is like a wifebeater bitching at his wife for bleeding on him when he hits her.

The leader of their party -- who happens to be the leader of our country -- just gave a single speech that did more to destroy any unity or reasonable discourse than any statements made by the last 3 presidents combined.

When one side is gleefully supporting a human verbal diarrhea machine, with a seemingly endless supply of liquid feces to spew, calls for "reasonable discourse" are pretty hollow.  There's a guy spewing liquid shit over everyone and everything, and you want us to TALK ABOUT IT?  Is THAT your reaction when someone is spewing feces all over anything? Or, perhaps, isn't the only rational approach one that says "FIRST, LET'S STOP THE DIARRHEA MACHINE?"

Discussing "ideas" is all but pointless, because one side of the discussion is not about ideas at all.  It's based on a man who just spewed dozens of out-and-out LIES, all aimed at inflaming one group of people against another.  The most fundamental ground rule for reasoned discourse is to have some agreed approach to objective truth.  It's silly and a waste of time to argue about the best way to stay dry in the rain when the other side insists that the very concept of rain is "fake news."  Bottom line, you don't reason with the unreasonable.  You can't.

Yeah, I'm at the point where if I meet a Trump supporter, I want nothing to do with you. No interest in chatting, grabbing coffee, watercooler talk, etc. If, at this point, you are still in the tank for Trump after everything he has said over the past 2 years, you are irredeemable.

But to answer truthfully, my goal isn't to convert the member of the cult.  They are lost.  My goal is to remind the folks who oppose the cult that they aren't wrong, yes, it IS normal to be utterly disturbed by this admin and its supporters, and they are not alone in that.

In response to the path this admin is on, silence is the ultimate sin.  And the admin's tactics are tailored to beat all opposition into exhausted submission.  I think that folks who have any doubts about this admin should be reminded that they are in the right, and they should be equipped with the tools and arguments to keep up the fight.  In short, we need to keep saying "nope, this is fucking WRONG" as to every shitty act or statement of this admin.  Normalize none of it.

Do you have a business? Would you do business with Trump supporters since they’re irredeemable?

It doesn't interfere with my life. I'm not close to a single person who supports Trump. Thanks for feeling bad for me, though. Notice I did not say "conservatives" or "republicans."  I'm perfectly fine with that.

Either you live a Howard Hughes like existence, you live in a very far off place, or you walk past a Trump supporter everyday without thinking about it and nobody growls at anybody

How far are you willing to take this? Will you go to a different gas station based on the owner’s political leanings? Do you have a business? Would you take money from a Trump supporter? If you’re an employee you might take a paycheck from a Trump supporter. Should you cash it?

I'm sure I walk by Trump supporters everyday. I work in the same courtroom with a bailiff who is a huge Trump supporter. I interact with her in order to conduct my business. I'm not sure how that is at odds with my statement that I have not interest in interacting, chatting, grabbing coffee, or  befriending Trump supporters.  And yes, if I felt a business owner's views were way out of line, then I would consider not giving money to them. That's called boycotting. People from both sides of the aisle engage in that on a pretty regular basis.

Ok.  Well you should walk that walk buddy. From now on I think you should ask management of every establishment you frequent what their political leanings are.

If you’re an attorney (seems you may be), do you take clients that are Trump supporters?

I'm sorry my position seems to have upset you so.  Thanks for the tip on how I should continue to enforce my personal beliefs and values. But just to be clear, for the third time. I'm not sure why my desire to not befriend or interact socially with people I believe are supporting a racist, nationalist, and authoritarian leader means I cannot spend money anywhere without vetting the place.  But anyway, nice chat.

And yes, I'm sure I've taken clients who are Trump supporters. I would have no idea unless they volunteered. Again, not sure how that has anything to do with my desire to avoid Trump supporters in my social circles.

You exposed yourself as a fraud with that post. No worries, it will be easier once you stop trying to pretend like you're above the fray.

Let’s be real, he was a fraud long before.
You’ve voted for more Republicans than I have.

I’ll stipulate that I’ve done a LOT of stupid things.

I have a line of bad-character witnesses who will so testify.

I’ll also posit that the party of Trump is materially different than the party of Reagan (although, with the benefit of a more mature perspective, there are also numerous uncomfortable similarities).

I have a hard time believing you really think I'm a fraud.  I think it is more likely you think you've got me in a game of gotcha.  You seem to have misconstrued what I've stated into an appeal for us all to achieve a perfect moral standard in debate.  I don't think we should wish harm on each other's families and I think it would be better if the board had less spam, reposts, and content free posts.  We seem to agree on these points.  My making a back handed compliment, or even an insult if you want to categorize it that way (what I stated is a mild insult by this board's standards and would not be worth commenting on otherwise), has nothing to do with these points.  If it mattered, I would gladly apologize anyway, but of course no one on this forum is offended by such a comment and the point is to accuse me of being hypocritical to standard you have falsely portrayed me as presenting.

Neither of us are stupid.

I don't give a damn about snark and snide and I've been just as much of an asshole as the majority of the posters here.  I try to be less and less of one, but I'm not claiming perfection in that area and that has not been the subject of my posts.

it's clear you're just a piece of shit hypocrite (is there any other kind?). but don't worry, that's just a mild insult, shouldn't make a blip by this board's standards, really hardly worth commenting on. so i suggest embrace it and move on.

In light of this new information, I retract all statements.

To be sincere for a moment, I know very little about her and everyone else who I’ve confronted on this thread.  I certainly do not know enough to form any strong thoughts on them one way or another.  So I genuinely apologize for implying that bad teammate took pharmaceuticals to be civil and that bama chick is merely some lost facebook poster. I hope it was clear that everything after the one liner nonsense was not serious, but in any case I apologize for all of that as well.

Bama Chick should be alright with anyone.  She seems real. Even if her political commentary typically gets about as deep as the poorly dyed grown out roots of the MILFS at the day care pick up line in cracker ville suburb USA. BT OTOH  is a real basket case who is at his core a democratic socialist but hates himself since he lives in a gated community built upon the evils of capitalism.  He hopes that a few barbs of advanced wit mixed with formatting and italics can redeem his sold out soul.

BT is incredibly dogmatic and paints with a broad brush and sees nazis in the shadows.  But I don't think his beliefs and his lifestyle are in conflict as he has presented.  I think he has taken some license with personal details for various reasons.  It's more likely that he is a guy in his 30s who makes an average income.
