October 31, 20187 yr Author 1. Yankees 2. Philly 3. Mets 4. Mariners 5. Yankees 6. 1-year contract with Texas 7. Traded at the end of July 8. (I literally have no idea if AZ is trying to resign him.) If he gets traded, I think it's in the offseason to Houston. I don't think AZ will go into March with him not extended. 9. SF extends him. 10. 99.9% chance they trade him in the offseason. Guessing Seattle? Forgot about Donaldson, but fuck him.
October 31, 20187 yr 1-6, 8,and 9 Rangers. 7 rangers next year after beltre retires. 10 AL west non rangers
October 31, 20187 yr I doubt Oakland trades Davis to any AL West team, but stranger things have happened. Weren't the Cubs listed as one of the top potential destinations for Harper?

October 31, 20187 yr https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/those-disastrous-world-series-tv-ratings/ This year’s abysmal World Series ratings even caught Manfred’s attention.

October 31, 20187 yr Quote The club initially declined Gardner’s $12.5M option, which they had up until midnight to decide upon. They then signed the journeyman to $7.5M for 2019. Guy has played 11 years for one organization... Journeyman? https://www.mlbdailydish.com/platform/amp/2018/10/31/18049916/yankees-brett-gardner-one-year-deal-free-agency

November 2, 20187 yr correct. i think he's taking a little less over the next couple of years in return for the 3rd year.
November 2, 20187 yr Apparently Chirinos’ option would have been $4.5M after incentive escalators kicked in. Still cheap.
November 2, 20187 yr Glad it was only one additional. Not sure there'll be much in the tank when that expires.

November 2, 20187 yr It would have been fun to see Kershaw on the open market. 1. Where does Harper go? Cubs - New tv deal gets even sweeter with him in the fold. 2. Where does Machado go? Phillies, then they get Trout 2020 3. Where does AJ Pollack go? Braves 4. Where does Dallas Keuchel go? Mariners 5. Where does Patrick Corbin go? Yankees 6. What does Adrian Beltre do? Don't really care Does he get traded because he's a free agent in 2020? 7. Arenado - No 8. Goldschmidt - Yes (Twins, Mariners, or Rays) 9. Bumgarner - Yes and he should be 10. Khris Davis - No

November 3, 20187 yr Two years ago tonight my ass was getting drunk as fuck watching the Cubs win the WS.
November 3, 20187 yr It's hard to understand why Kershaw would take that deal, at least from a purely financial standpoint. $28m might be about right for his age 33 season but it's going to be even tougher for him to get a longer-term deal going into his age 34 season.

I thought he could get at least 5 years guaranteed on the FA market and I agree with you. I don’t trust Kershaw or Bum 3 years from now with the amount of mileage they have.

Maybe maximizing his career earnings isn’t his top priority.

November 4, 20187 yr Yeah I could see Kershaw as a retire-early kind of guy. He broke in at a young age, he is clearly in decline and has had a lot of injury issues (including back stuff).

He'll be 33 going on 40. I think it puts the dodgers financially in a better chance to win a title and that's all he's got left to check off on his list. I think he knows he's going to be done by 34 or 35 anyway and I don't think he likes the limelight. Seems to fly way under the radar.
November 5, 20187 yr Yeah I could see Kershaw as a retire-early kind of guy. He broke in at a young age, he is clearly in decline and has had a lot of injury issues (including back stuff). Yeah, he feels a lot like Felix Hernandez. And Bum is another on that boat.
November 6, 20187 yr Are you kidding me? How the hell is JD Martinez not a finalist for AL mvp? Absolutely ridiculous.

There are worse players than Will Clark in. I think Joe Carter is literally the most overrated player of my lifetime. But my greatest fear is a HoF with Kuhn, Selig, and Steinbrenner, but without Marvin Mitchell.
November 6, 20187 yr Author The MLBPA has literally not talked to the owners/commish (by choice) since before the start of the 2018 season. But the teams and Manfred keep leaking stuff like this to the media for some reason. Edited November 6, 20187 yr by Beau Vine
