April 14, 20187 yr I added a wonderful breakfast and lunch location in Mt Vernon, TX. M.L. Edwards. Menu is on the pin.
April 14, 20187 yr You guys have damn near doubled up the map since the move to surly. Bravo! FTR any outside of Texas places are more than welcome. Particularly those in neighboring states.

April 14, 20187 yr There is a Mexican food place in Taos that has great food. It’s Orlando’s and they are on the edge of town on the way out to the ski area.
April 17, 20187 yr not a small gem, but is Cooper's in Llano still any good? Driving with my son from Houston to Snyder on Friday and was thinking of going there for lunch.
April 17, 20187 yr not a small gem, but is Cooper's in Llano still any good? Driving with my son from Houston to Snyder on Friday and was thinking of going there for lunch. I thought Coopers in Llano was pretty outstanding when I visited last summer.
April 17, 20187 yr Yeah, Cooper's can be inconsistent, but it's never been anything worse than good for me.
April 17, 20187 yr Excellent, I haven't been out there in about 7 years, so wanted to check. might try me some goat on this trip
April 17, 20187 yr Hard to believe goat is the next highest priced thing on the menu just below prime rib.

April 17, 20187 yr While we're at it, Bakery Cafe in Aransas Pass is awesome for breakfast or anything else. Since 1929.
April 20, 20187 yr I added a wonderful breakfast and lunch location in Mt Vernon, TX. M.L. Edwards. Menu is on the pin. I’ll put this to the test. We have land we hunt in Talco on a regular basis and the only place we have eaten in town is the pizza place on the square.

Note that M.L. Edwards is a breakfast/lunch joint only. I believe their weekend hours are around 9A-2or3P. The Ahi tuna tower is spectacular, something you think would only be found in large metro areas.
April 20, 20187 yr Have to give a shoutout to Ball's Fried Chicken in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Small hole-in-the-wall place, the first time I went I knew it would be good because the cashier weighed about 400 lbs. It is my go-to spot on any drive to or from NOLA. Fried chicken and boudin balls.

I lived in Aransas Pass for about 6 years until Hurricane Harvey decided that I needed to move. I would hit up Bakery Cafe for breakfast every now and then for breakfast on the weekend. My usual order was an omelet. I would get some absolutely vile shits after each time. So I stopped going there. I would just hit up BBQ de Oro Taqueria of Taqueria Guanajuanto for some breakfast tacos instead. If you want a good burger while in Aransas Pass, hit up Mickey's Bar and Grill and order a South of the Border burger. I also find the wings at Redfish Willie's to be quite passable. If you are craving some surprisingly good pho, check out I Love Noodle (if it has reopened post-Harvey; I honestly have not checked since the storm to see if it has re-opened). I am anxious for the brewpub that is being built in Aransas Pass, Hook and Ladder Brewpub, to open. I am very curious to see how a brewpub will do in Aransas Pass. Hopefully they will have some good food and a good beer selection. This area definitely needs somewhere that serves something other than the usual macro brews.

April 22, 20187 yr The Butcher shop in Longview Texas, I’m an idiot and can’t figure out how to add to the map on my iPad.

April 24, 20187 yr My wife is from Longview. Nanny Goat's is a good spot to eat there. If you are ever in Livingston around lunch time, this place has a great burger.

The It'll Do Deli is another spot comparable to Nanny Goats in Longview as well. Tomboni's Bistro as well. All places the women like to lunch, or I guess men too if you are looking for lighter fare. April 25, 20187 yr Jacoby's Cafe in Melvin has really good food. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all really solid. They also make excellent steaks at night. It's inside of a feed store, so it's got that going for it.
April 26, 20187 yr The Burger Boy up in Conroe has been there forever. Great Burgers in old burger place in the bad part of town.
May 15, 20187 yr Is there anything to eat in carthage? Getting in around dinner time for work tomorrow and I’m only familiar with Marshall/Longview/Jefferson eats
May 15, 20187 yr Daddy Sam's BBQ used to have real good beans but otherwise mediocre BBQ. The old owner sold it though. It's now Boss Hog and I have no idea whether or not it is the same.
May 18, 20187 yr I see Pioneer BBQ in Nixon is already on the map. Good stop on the way back from the coast.I’ll be hitting it in about 20 minutes.
May 18, 20187 yr As good a sliced sangwich as I’ve ever had. Had an end piece in there and the bark was peppery perfection.
May 24, 20187 yr It's a burger joint with an outdoor bar area that has live music several nights a week. Good atmosphere and good burgers with a nice wall full of taps.
