November 25, 20241 yr The sun going down on the Rose Bowl is honestly one of the most beautiful sights you'll ever see.

The only drawback is the long walk to get out to the concessions or restrooms. We were up high but getting out at the end was easy because they let you leave from the top down the club access area. The tailgating scene is great. The fanzone was just okay but all the USC and UCLA fans together was awesome. They definitely have more active hatred than Texas and OU. Yeah sorry the service was real spotty. I didn’t get your text till we were leaving Yeah I couldn’t send any pics. They need to install WiFi. Dodger Stadium has it and there can be 50k using it. At the Rose Bowl if there are more than 10k using the cell towers, it goes into meltdown. Brutal game. We should’ve won but for stupid mistakes and missed opportunities. Ugly game on both sides though. Hope you had fun.

November 26, 20241 yr The I-State logo is great except for the bevels. Death to bevels. Whirly bird is hideous.
November 26, 20241 yr We have a non-beveled I-State. It's classy. I'll always be partial to our two 80's logos.

November 29, 20241 yr Had a discussion online about Texas and aggy wearing home uniforms in the same game. Trying to think of what other rivals have done that. Obviously, USC-UCLA is the top one. Oregon-Oregon State. BYU-Utah did it this year. Did Washington and Washington State do it for the Apple Cup? And before you say, oh that's dumb, Texas and aggy could never do that in the same game, this is was on the promo for the aggy game by Texas Football. Not sure of the year but the footage and color makes me think either late 50s or early 60s when our orange was brighter. Edited November 29, 20241 yr by mdmost

Pretty sure the orange helmets were gone before 1960.
December 5, 20241 yr Very happy we're wearing the whites this weekend. We'll get those nice red Georgia home uniforms. Should be a great uniform matchup.

The 2:30(ish) local kick for the Rose Bowl game gets the sun setting on the San Gabriels in the 2H and it's simply incredible. I've been to a 1/2 dozen Bowl games there along with the 4 BCS championship games. Lucky enough to have a good friend on the Tournament of Roses committee. It's a dinosaur of a stadium but the setting is unparalleled. Big renovations to the stadium are on the horizon. A must see in American sports along with Allen Fieldhouse, Fenway, Wrigley, Yankee Stadium, Lambeau, Cameron, Hinkle Fieldhouse and Madison Square Garden.

Off topic for the thread but new Yankee Stadium just isn't a must-see. It's not even the best MLB stadium in New York. Just a big generic baseball stadium with surprisingly bad concessions. I'd say AT&T Stadium in SF and the Pirates' stadium in Pittsburgh are much better cathedrals of baseball.

There's a host of MLB destinations including Pittsburgh, San Diego, Denver, San Fransisco, others. All newer venues in some really nice settings PNC in Pittsburgh, especially. Shit, look at at it below. So fair point on your end. Yankee Stadium simply because of Monument Park, historical nature of the team, etc. No wrong answers on this really. Just my preferences.

My sneaky underrated pick of the newer stadiums is Target Field in Minneapolis. Fabulous park, great food and drink options, with tightly packed, steeply raked stands right in the middle of downtown.

It’d be cool if we got a Major League team rather than the AAA club we have. Pittsburgh Pirates, Rebuilding Since 1991.
