The Denver rebrand in the 1990s was not the worst-executed, but it spawned a lot of terrible, worse executed sameness.

Wyoming @ Colorado was another color game. The contrast looked sharp under the lights.

I'd say the Oilers throwbacks are the best if it wasn't fuckin' Tennessee wearing them.

Bucs: This is the best uniform combo in the NFL. No, we won’t make them our regular look, idiot.

A&M to wear 1975 throwbacks against Gata. The Manziel era uniforms were similar but this is so much better without the beveled numbers. The 70s era adidas logo is a nice touch.

Colorado’s gold hats and pants are so much better than all black.

aggy should've kept the shoulder stripes from the Manziel era teams. It's a unique and somewhat classic look. I agree that the beveled numbers are lame.

Agreed. Simply commenting on the general esthetic of the game on screen. The color combo of the two teams playing really just popped under the lights, or at least I thought so.

Might make an attempt to watch tonight’s game to check this out …

In fairness, it looks better than some of the camo jerseys we've seen over the years.

Georgia Southern to wear special camo ...

These Cardinals helmets are excellent.

The uniforms?  Not so much.

Paydirt Pete is great. I do also like the pickaxe as the T in “UTEP” and the single pickaxe.  UTEP has some great and unique stuff to work with; and should completely ditch the modern miner mark that just looks like a cowboy.

The baby blue is so great, much better and eye catching than the navy. Kind of the inverse of the classic Gulf racing livery.

I welcome all moves back to brighter colors and away from muddy tones and shades of gray/white. It’s just much nicer to see colors and contrast on the field. That’s part of why the Cardinals stuff sucks, just a bunch of muted “desert tones.”  The AZ flag is great and iconic because of the colors and they took them all out.

Agreed. Brighter colors are what made the older, classic NFL uniforms so much better.

Quarterback Chris Chandler, who lost all six of his starts as a Buccaneer in the early 1990s, later defeated Tampa Bay as a Houston Oiler in 1995.

Yup here’s what that matchup looks like today. Dark blue almost black, turd brown pants, and overly complicated stupid looking logos. Fucking 1990s.

I can't think of a single 90's rebrand that has stood the test of time.  Even if they're still in use (like these) most fans clamor for the old ones.  The NBA and NHL had some truly hideous combos in that time frame as well.

I could get behind the bucs combining their current logo with their former color scheme

The bucs sucked out loud with the old colors and have won 2 titles with the current look. I get the idea the old color scheme would win a fan popularity contest though. Maybe not, but it could make for an interesting study in branding.

The flag on a sword is just fucking stupid. Who flies a flag on their sword? It's just too busy for a logo too.

Good idea, bleh execution.

I am a WWII aviation fan and leaning into the P-40 Warhawk angle is cool. But they use an actual hawk on all their other branding.  The mascot was chosen to honor Chennault so why not make that the primary focus?

The shark mouth is cool but it’s itching to be the helmet mark, not a sleeve. It is one of the most iconic WWII era symbols and should have pride of place.

Move the Louisiana with the roundel to the sleeve. The roundel in the middle of the jersey is odd.  Why not use the Flying Tigers’ actual squadron symbol if you’re doing this tribute instead of the roundel? Walt Disney did this for the squadron.

Gray sucks. Go with the airplane’s actual olive drab if you’re not doing school colors.

I like this "skull with dagger in teeth" better than "flag on a sword". Maybe too scary for young 'uns?

Gray always sucks, but maybe Adidas doesn't have olive drab fabric in stock. A separate dye run for ULM is probably cost-prohibitive, and most fans won't care. I agree about the shark teeth being a better helmet logo.

I’m usually overly bullish on Oregon’s clown suits, but this one works. I’d swap the black pants for something else (I can’t stand when pants and jerseys are the same color) and definitely ditch the gold shoes.

Next up, glow in the dark mummy wraps.

The super huge spiky numbers, helmet with lots of garnet and black stickers, and garnet and gold collar and accessories all kind of muddy it up in practice. Not a natural look for FSU.

FSU is sitting on some of the absolute best uniforms ever and they decide to roll with these.

Ya, I’m getting tired of everyone ripping off our look. It should be Texas and Penn St. everyone else can fuck off.

Bo, Peyton and Elway

Hate these Wake helmets - they look like Army with the block letters. They should go with a Deac head for alternates.

Pure trash from Colorado. They looked pretty cool every time last year and have good colors - what is this all grey shit?

I'll never understand why teams think grey is a good look. It's a secondary color, at best.💩

Miss State's MSU throwback helmets are better than anything else they've got. Bulldogs might be a tough out for the real UT in StarkVegas.

Good follows if you're really into football helmets and their histories. @Blaise D'Sylva and Helmet History. Boise State went with an impressive, custom paint job vs App St. But, is it good branding if you need a close-up to see it?

One of my pet peeves. Designed for the uniform reveal on socials and not for the game on tv or in person.

This account shows the silliness of this stuff.
