November 15, 20187 yr Not the same band or the same song but this thread reminded me of this unique situation. When Massive Attack was recording Protection, Tricky was a member and was tasked with writing the verses for Karmacoma that he would sing. He was also working on his first solo album at the time and had neglected to getting around to writing the lyrics for Karmacoma. So, he delivered lyrics he'd written for his solo album. As a result, two very different songs share many of the same lyrics.
