Genuine remorse, my ass. He's genuinely sorry he got sentenced, but this fuckstick knows no other way.

Dude is a lot like Trump, but smarter.  Complete grifter from jump.

That sentence was much lower than the nine years that was the bottom of the sentencing range suggested by federal guidelines, and not anywhere close to “a substantial” prison term sought by federal prosecutors for the California lawyer.

Fucking federal judges need to cut the shit on sentencing white professionals.  If they'd fucking do that, some shit might change.

I kind of agree and kind of disagree. I agree that white collar criminals should be sentenced much more harshly at least in regards to drug offenses. Whether that applies to Avenatti's stupid scheme here I don't really have a strong opinion about. He didn't actually obtain any proceeds and he wasn't trying to extort an old lady but rather a multi-billion dollar corporation that just laughed at his hamhandedness. All that said, I think mandatory minimum sentences for many and maybe most crimes, especially drug crimes, are immorally excessive. So I think pushing for shorter sentences across the board for non-violent offenses is a good thing, even if it means douche nozzles like Avenatti get off with relatively light sentences.

Maybe we should wait for a police report or exhaustive investigation before we let this guy on the Supreme Court.

This guy was a trip.  He fucked around.

Don't confuse my desire for equity in sentencing with a desire for lengthy sentences across the board.

According to that article, Avenatti got a 300% plus downward departure.  No one gets that except white collar criminals.

If powerful people with powerful friends (not that Avenatti is that powerful) got buttfucked with guideline sentences we might get some sentencing reform in this country.

Convicted on 2 counts today with a max of 22 years.

One of the counts has a mandatory 2 year consecutive not concurrent sentence as well. So looks like his stay will be a bit longer.

This guys saga would make one hell of a book or miniseries about the rise and fall of a man driven by ego and greed.

Such a wild story...

basta

It's rather bizarre that the feds picked up a plain ol theft/breach of fiduciary duty case.

That really shouldn't happen in a sane world.

Avenatti is a crazy story. Guy flew to close to the sun and fell.

He had set himself up to earn valid, large amounts of money and continue to be a high-profile political and legal commentator. I guess the scorpion is gonna do what the scorpion is gonna do.

On other threads where a conservative person is busted stealing money, I know of a poster or two that will state that non-violent, financial criminals should not be imprisoned. Fines, probation and removal of professional careers should be punishment enough.  But I haven't seen them post that opinion for Avenatti. hmmm

Donald Trump cheated on his third wife by fucking porn star Stormy Daniels shortly after said wife gave birth to his youngest son Barron. (“Barron” was also an alias Donald used to use when pretending to be someone else and calling members of the media to tell them how great Donald Trump is.) During his 2016 presidential campaign, Donald Trump paid Stormy Daniels $130,000 to buy her silence about the affair and made her sign a non-disclosure agreement. That’s illegal. It’s a felony campaign finance violation. His personal attorney Michael Cohen went to jail for his part in the scheme. Why hasn’t Donald Trump been sent to jail yet just for this crime alone? Who cares about the attorney who represented Stormy Daniels?

No one is more sleazy than Donald Trump and no decent person supports him. That’s the story here.

So, But Trump.

I think he actually fucked said porn star prior to said wife birthing Barron, but otherwise, yes.  Or maybe I have that confused with one of his other whores.

No, some people say he fucked Stormy Daniels while Melania was pregnant with Barron but it actually happened shortly after his birth. I’m not exactly sure when he fucked Playboy playmate Karen McDougal but he also committed a crime when he paid hush money to her too.

NEW YORK — Michael Avenatti was sentenced Thursday to four years in prison for stealing book proceeds from Stormy Daniels, the porn actor who catapulted him to fame as he represented her in courtrooms and cable news programs during her legal battles with then-President Donald Trump.

The Newport Beach lawyer, currently incarcerated, learned his fate in Manhattan federal court, where Judge Jesse M. Furman said the sentence will mean that Avenatti will spend another 2 1/2 years in prison on top of the 2 1/2 years he is already serving after another fraud conviction.

The judge said Avenatti’s crime against Daniels was made “out of desperation” when his law firm was struggling. He called Avenatti’s behavior “craven and egregious” and blamed it on “blind ambition.”

god, this dude was on the news on the daily.

always was kind of a slimy schmuck, but a pretty good shit stirrer.

also, he stole from his client. otherwise, he might still have some kind of grift going on.

He seemed like he’d be a pretty decent litigator too. I guess he got greedy.
