@RamjetFDOcan you discuss how that barge works?  Is it unmanned?  Is it self-propelled or do they tow it?  What's the deal?

That was damn impressive.  I just like hearing the term "drone ship" thrown about.  Anything particularly cool on this payload?

And what's the estimate on when we get our first launch in South Texas?

They're towed to/from the landing area, and then allowed to position.  They stationkeep autonomously, using GPS, to within 3' of a predefined location.  The tug then moves to a standoff location, as we've seen a few "dynamic landings" in the past.

Once safed, the tug approaches, locks down the booster, and tows back to port.

SO it's basically like Phillip Seymour Hoffman in "The Jackal".  The tug boat is him, gets the target into position, then tries to get the fuck outta the way before the shit is incoming.

Shit I missed it.  Is there a replay on the link?

I believe it is no coincidence that "dynamic" and "godammit" sound similar.

fun begins just after the 20:50(edit: or the 14:50 point the second time I viewed it so I'm not sure what is going on) mark on the video.  then you can skip and watch the other milestones of the deployment, etc.  very cool.  only bummer is the re-entry vehicle no show of the landing.

Is it on a TV channel like NASA or any of those?  I want to gather the kids around and a laptop won't cut it.  Thanks.

It's mindblowing to just think about how much propellant they're using. Nearly half a million gallons of liquid hydrogen and oxygen

The National Reconnaissance Office loves their Deltas. I can't blame them. The Deltas were a reliable platform to launch expensive things into orbit.

Yeah but it’ll have that nasty plastic Chinesium stink, use that weird font on the instructions, built only with flathead screws, and fall apart because the plastic tab that holds the entire thing together broke.
