We are absolute trash on every special teams return and coverage team

I thought the whole point of putting starters on these was to be good.

the image of PJ Locke whiffing an onside kick that hit him in the face mask could be these units' logo.

Probably time to let Jamison focus on something other than PR duties.  Just put LJH back there.  Fair catch everything.

That was why they had Jones back there.

Need to hire Kliff as one of those consultants ala Saban/Butch Davis. He could help the D game plan for spread offenses.

Mack had great special teams, just sayin.

Not at the end. He had a shit load of talent on those teams.

Clicked right as Dicker kicked off out of bounds.

IIRC, 3 of our 4 penalties last week were on punt teams.

When Mack had great players...

Then he killed himself.

In Florida, iirc.

All the money that Texas whips people with, somehow a quality ST coach eludes us.

if Tech fires Kliff he could be great for this position🤪

Red? That you?

Wait, never mind, Kliff is white.

Mack Brown's special teams varied over the years. His first season, Texas lost at home to NC State when the mighty Wolf Pack blocked THREE punts.  A few years later, the Longhorns were doomed in the CCG by a roughing the punter penalty.

As others noted, Brown had superior athletes to overcome poor coaching and bonehead moves by staff and players. A prime example was super athlete Brian Robison, kick blocker without peer.

The Mack Brown special team coaching decision that removed any doubt that Mack Brown was a lousy coach was his decision to attempt a long fake field goal at Nebraska when the Longhorns were leading late in the game. With the FG team on the field, the short punt was fielded and run back for a TD by an NU player who outran the FG unit for the score. There was absolutely no reason for the call and it gave NU an opportunity to get back in the game which Texas had controlled to that point. Even the dipshit commentators were puzzled by that one.

Wrong.  It was 78 punts.
