March 7, 20196 yr Glad that Adrienne was cut. She was the one all season that talked s*** about everyone else. Completely unlikeable.

March 8, 20196 yr Author Ha, just saw your edit. Let’s just say our definitions of talking shit must be vastly different. This is a 6-page thread, my opinion of Adrienne has been pretty clear.
March 8, 20196 yr Author Damn, that was rough when Padma asked Michelle if she noticed the empty seat. Of course everyone watching assumed that meant her father. And Padma in purple, whoa.

Agreed, I'm guessing friends with Graham Elliot since they are both Chicago guys And sorry I am not a chef and have never made (or had) matzo ball soup and I even knew you can put soda water in any batter to lighten it up. But kudos to Sara for having the balls to make a common dish good enough to make it to the finals. Edited March 8, 20196 yr by JimmyHoffa

One of the best meals I have had in my life was his tasting menu at his now closed restaurant in Chicago about 7 or 8 years ago.

March 8, 20196 yr Just now, AustinMT said: And leaving closed restaurants in his wake yep, not all talented chefs are good at the business end of things.
March 9, 20196 yr I really thought it was gonna be Eric, but glad he made it through. I definitely think they use past performance at this stage in the game, regardless of what they claim. Anyone's game at this point and I'm happy with all 3 finalists. Really cool to see the past two seasons where there hasn't been a "villain".

It only starts to smell bad when it rots though. It's weird the contestants were playing that up so much. Those ripe ones that they were cutting open shouldn't have smelled bad. Andrew Zimmern says it's the only food he can't eat because of the smell.

March 11, 20196 yr Hmm, reading up on it, it seems that depending on the variety the smell can vary quite a bit. So I guess my one time experience doesn't really make me an expert.
March 15, 20196 yr Author Not a fan of kicking one out after only the first course. At least give them two each.
March 15, 20196 yr Author Wonder what that Aji meal would cost Joe Public? Also not a big fan of them cooking & serving separately. Is Graham’s kitchen too small?
March 15, 20196 yr Have you ever tried a Szechuan peppercorn? Lots of chefs using them now. I think you can’t overdo it if cooking with them bc you’ll make everyone’s tongue/mouth go numb.
March 15, 20196 yr Author So now Kelsey just chills in the back for 3 hours? That sounds dumb. Really hope those crabs don’t fuck her.
March 15, 20196 yr I’m glad Kelsey took it but Sara really won me over in these last few episodes. She seems like a good person and genuinely happy for Kelsey. And if Twitter is any indication, Eric wins fan favorite.
March 15, 20196 yr Yay! Happy with the ending. I honestly thought it was Sara after the 4th course. But Sara’s storyline wasn’t as cohesive which is what I guess they were ultimately looking for is stay to true to yourself/ show progression.
March 15, 20196 yr I'm glad that Kelsey won but I would have been happy with Eric too and I would have liked to see his other dishes. Kelsey's cornbread and buttermilk brought back memories of my grandfather crumbling up cornbread in a glass of milk (regular milk not buttermilk). I hadn't thought about that in a long time.
March 15, 20196 yr 11 hours ago, spystud13 said: Damn, the lotus root chips fucked him. That and probably too much jerk on the beef - Tom couldn’t taste the protein. Wish Eric could have served his other courses
March 15, 20196 yr 10 hours ago, spystud13 said: They sure fooled us. I don't know if we were watching the same episode. Aside from the Crab course Kelsey knocked it out of the park on the other 3 based on the table discussion. The judges all had problems (yes minor ones) with Sara's dishes aside from the Beef dish. I thought it was pretty obvious that Kelsey was going to win based on what they showed. Happy for her she seems to really know her shit and puts out great food. I'm guessing her per plate catering rates are going to have a slight increase now.....

March 15, 20196 yr Author Hoffa, I’m not gonna quote your essay, but I’m pretty fucking sure we watched the same episode.

March 15, 20196 yr Very happy with the result. From the beginning, at just about every challenge Kelsey put out the dish I would most like to eat. And, slowly I recognized that not only was it good, soulful cooking, it was pretty damn sophisticated too. Plus, she seemed like a good person who knew how to throw a good party. I'd do a tasting menu at her restaurant tomorrow.
