May 26, 20241 yr the white last name is rare and was an error on Topps part. It makes it a lot more valuable. But I added the yellow last name to it last week.

I sent some through a local card store and got them back in less than 40 days but they up charged me something crazy. I sent some on my own on May 12th and the app says it will be August before I get them back. I hope that’s wrong. Will keep you posted.

June 6, 20241 yr I can confidently say that none of those kids played anything like any of those guys lmaoThats cool though.
June 13, 20241 yr where did you grow up? just curious because i’ve never met anyone raised in texas who actually loves hockey. edit: should say loves hockey enough to make hockey memorabilia a centerpiece of a collection.
August 9, 20241 yr Wal-Mart is selling jumbo packs of 2023 Topps for $5. Series 1 packs have 36 cards with at least 4-5 special cards as inserts. Series 2 packs have 40 cards also with 4-5 inserts. Too soon to know if any of the young players are going to be studs but I've pulled a fair amount of the top players (Shohei, Judge, Soto, Vlad Guerrero, etc.) Not a terrible way to waste some money.
December 31, 2024Dec 31 I know i know people hate the Astros, but I just did a player break and had Altuve and ended up with a 1/1 button card and /27 patch card. The triple auto card came out too but it had to go to random and Tucker person ended up winning it.

January 8Jan 8 I mostly collect memorabilia as well. Sending off this ticket I had signed from Emmitt's record breaking game for encapsulation at PSA. Edited January 8Jan 8 by ITHorn
January 11Jan 11 Got in a 50 box (10case) player break of more triple threads. Went with a flyer for Framber Valdez cause he doesn't have much in the set but what he does are pretty much all 1/1 cards. No joke....50th box this dude opens and I hit. Starts at 2:44:00 mark lol
January 15Jan 15 I was a weird kid growing up. I loved card collecting but instead of looking for the ones that might be valuable or whatever in the future, I started collecting the players that I liked. So yeah, I've got some Manute Bol rookies, tons of Deion Sanders, Jerry Rice rookie, Emmitt Smith rookie, some Bo Jackson, and Ken Griffey Jr. Nothing that'll amaze anyone, but to me, they are gold. I remember trading a Clyde Drexler card (some regular ol 1991-92) for a Manute Bol card and remember my friend thinking I was nuts. hahahaha. I don't think I have anything older than 1986 or so. That is about when I got into collecting. My favorite card: Bo Jackson 87 Classic My most valuable (I think): Jerry Rice Topps rookie Card that I thought would be worth a lot more: Emmitt Smith 1990 Action Packed Card that I have had the longest: Deion Sanders 1989 Pro Set card Weirdest player I started collecting for no reason: Kevin Maas. I have no idea why but I have a few of his. I was a Don Mattingly fan and thought he was "next". hahaha.
January 15Jan 15 I have a ton of cards from the 60’s and 70’s including Mantles, Aarons, Gibsons, Mays, etc and football cards including Staubach, Bradshaw, Namath etc. I have no idea what they’re worth( most are in very good condition) but I was told to have them graded at $50 per and there's no way I’m going to pay that. I’ll just give them to my daughter and she can make a decision.

If you really have tons of cards from early 60's to early 70's you've got some money(and they are in VG condition as you say). find the HOFer Rookie cards first. if you have 71 Bradshaw and 72 Staubach those are nice, a Namath rookie is big but that is early 60's. for baseball 68 Ryan, 63 Rose, 68 Bench, 69 Jackson, 67 Seaver, 73 schmidt also any "high number series" HOFers(schmidt 73 is a great example, rookie card with high number), don't have to be rookie. The last series in each set through 1973 are always in shortage in baseball cards because the 5 and dimes stopped ordering them as season ended. If you have 1972 football cards that are over #263 that is the 3rd set and they are worth good money, even the common players.

January 20Jan 20 This isn’t a memorabilia item that I expect to appreciate, but it’s something I like. Bill McLanahan was an editorial and sports cartoonist for the DMN, and he did a weekly SWC cartoon. This is the original artwork for the one he did before the 1971 Cotton Bowl. I’m going to have it framed for my study. Edited January 20Jan 20 by statsman
January 22Jan 22 Sorry @Scraps. Livvy gonna be sharing the suite with an 11 yo. Edited January 22Jan 22 by UTexasFight Ah, crap. Of course this was already posted on the baseball board
January 22Jan 22 I don't understand the statement, "this is the card that the Pirates are offering a package including 30 years of season tickets behind home plate for." Seems like the easier path would have been for someone with the Pirates to tell Skenes "we would really like to keep that jersey / patch, etc. and we will make sure you (or your designee) get whatever you are offered for it on the market." What am I missing?

Very cool. Fuck them season tickets id sell to the highest bidder I have no idea what box seat tickets behind the plate go for in Pittsburgh but 30 years of tickets (2 per game) if they are 200 each is about 2M bucks right? but still the kid is in LA and you lose out on making money on the money over 30 years. Pirates would have to seriously up their offer
January 23Jan 23 I have no idea what box seat tickets behind the plate go for in Pittsburgh but 30 years of tickets (2 per game) if they are 200 each is about 2M bucks right? No. Less than 1M. There are only 81 home games a year.
January 24Jan 24 I’d take Goldens offer. He’s gonna make a quick 1.5 for that card. Pay your tax and invest it.
January 24Jan 24 The cards value is never going to be higher....and if it does go up it won't be by much. Parents should have had a lawyer already contact Goldin.

The perks are really cool, and would be more interesting if they threw in $500k. Otherwise the best bet is Goldin auction, which will likely be $1M+.

I'll be honest I have no idea how all the new card market stuff works. someone I know said the artificially created rarity 1 of 1 thing can be overblown because card companies are now making many 1 of 1's. that said, he's 22. if he pitches for until he's 40 and puts up HOF numbers would it not go significantly higher?
January 24Jan 24 Your friend is correct. The 1/1 is not uncommon. Skenes probably has hundreds of them out there already. The only thing making this card worth alot is the hype around the pro debut patch.Pitchers are kind of frowned upon (ohtani not included) when it comes to $$$/inverstment with most collectors. The Skenes market is so high right now I don't see how it every gets better for his cards even if he does go to HOF. Honestly i dont think the card is technically "really" worth more than 100K, but the hype will make it sell higher. Looking at 1/1s that have sold of Skenes the highest one I have recently seen was around 25k. All these guys oversaturate the market with their signature so there will be hundred of thousands of Skenes autos by the time he retires. Out of current players there is one guy off the top of my head who doesn't have his signature out there in every product every season....hell I can't even remember seeing him have signed cards out there....and thats Justin Verlander. I could be incorrect, but if Skenes has JVs career I don't see that card moving much on value from what it will get sold in auction right now. Others here may disagree

They are calling it a rookie card but is it really? not sure how the rookie card thing works these days.
January 24Jan 24 Yeah anything with the "RC" is normally considered RC these days, but there are so many different products (plus Topps drops Topps Now cards daily during the season depending on milestones/accomplishments of players that will also have the RC on them) that a player ends up with hundred different cards with RC.What most collectors tend to lean towards as far as "true" rookie card in my experience are 1st Bowman's....and normally chrome ones, not paper.
January 24Jan 24 I loved collecting cards back in the day but the stuff they do today just seems really manufactured excitement. back then you tried to complete a set, or a team, or get all the all star/special cards in a set. I am glad people are into it more though. I kind of wish I had done it more when my son was the right age but I just never got into it heavy with him. I think the junk wax period kind of soured me. I guess I can still dream of walking up to a garage sale and finding that 52 Mantle sitting in a shoebox.

Soooo many options now with the 1st bowman’s coming in paper, chrome, sapphire and then all the other actual rookie products. Had a nice 1st refractor auto of Skenes that gemmed and a sapphire 1st auto that got a 9. Sold them at his peak.
