Fuck Mack. But you are right regarding smoozing BMDs.

I don’t trust Mack schmoozing BMD’s or having any kind of role in our program. Sure, recognize him on the sideline next season in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the 2005 team. But we see him no more beyond that.

If Mack oversteps and CDC/Hartzell do not want to deal with directly, they can always bring back Steve Patterson on a 2-day contract. (ducks)

(Knock on wood) If Mack starts hovering around Sark’s program trying to give his unsolicited advice on how to win one championship in 15 years, I wouldn’t blame Sark one bit for bolting to the NFL the first chance he got to get away from mackbrown-texasfootball.com because what the fuck man.

I don't envision this part happening as long as Chris Del Conte is in charge.  But if Del Conte ever leaves and UT gets another Deloss Dodds type AD the watch out.

Please, oh please 8 lb. 6 oz baby Jesus ...keep Mack away from the UT program

I have watched a LOT of bad football this year. But UNC's performance today is on another, almost transcendent level

He’ll be the Assistant to the Athletic Director.

Bobby Burton naturally forgot to ask Mack that if he loved UT so much then why did he tell players to go elsewhere in December 2013.

I'm sure Mack would have plenty of fans on OTF but I wont listen.  I've heard enough of that selfish, passive aggressive ass to last me two lifetimes.

Launch them both outta Austin with those jet packs.

No breakup is ever clean, but only an idiot holds a grudge for shit that happened over a decade ago, especially towards a guy who brought us a completely revitalized program, massive national respect, and a fucking national championship.

Welcome him back with open arms. Put him in burnt orange, smiling and glad-handing in someone's luxury suite during games. Cheer like mad when he's smiling on the screen. When he's pumping sunshine, celebrate it; reward the behavior from him you want to see. If he starts getting ornery about this-or-that (in public or even in private), pat him on the head and have Sally come collect him until he's had his orange slices and feels better.

I don't think this program is so delicate and insecure that it can't handle Mack's peripheral existence. Calm down.

He's just so transparent. "Thanks for joining us on the show Coach Brown. How's it---"

"College football is a fucking mess Bobby! It's just not fair to the kids, or to the coaches at schools who can't afford to pay NIL. Even the greatest coach of all time at a place like, oh I don't know, North Carolina, doesn't have a prayer of winning...."

Sally, did you keep your house here or are you using Saban’s realtors?

I expect Mack thinks he’s coming back to Austin to help direct the construction of his statue by the stadium.

The problem is, no one trusts him to not continue being petty and back stabbing. Keep him away from the football program.

If you divorced your wife and lost half your shit because she was fucking someone else, would you start dating her again a decade later? Would you still be a little pissed off about it?

This is the issue. Once a person shows who they are, you can be confident they will behave accordingly. He wants to retire as a beloved Austin figure who hob mobs with the power brokers and is shown due respect. That will be too disruptive. Compare that to DKR who was the opposite, and was naturally beloved because of it.

No, but that's not what this is. This is about smiling for the kids when she's around for major events and holidays. It's a sales point. It's an image builder. It's a show of unity, even if it's partially or even mostly fake. It makes us look smaller to have some pointlessly petty relationship with our most successful HC of the last 50 years.

If you think mack brown covering Texas sports in this format isn't a fucking gold mine you have no idea how money works.

This is an absolutely incredible interview from a perspective that is unique.

GKK0ysVXgAA7hgZ?format=jpg&name=large

Sounds like you're carrying water for your buddy and business partner Bobby Burton.  "Incredible interview?"  LOL Mack didn't say anything he hasn't said a 1000 times before OR you could predict with 100% accuracy:

  1. Sark is great
  2. His team plays great defense
  3. CDC is great
  4. Texas has great NIL
  5. Texas is such a hard place to coach at that those mean fans got mad at us when we "only" won 10 games! har har har!

That's some hard hitting analysis right there.  To be fair, he did break news about his and Sally's retirement plan to move to Austin.  So there's that.

If anything he showed his true anti-Texas colors by arguing passionately for "parity" in college football and that the "big brands" (Texas???) boosters don't want that and complain to their politicians to freeze the status quo.   You're damn right we want to freeze things here Mack!  First there's never been parity in college football, ever.  Second, the current playing field allows Texas to legally pay players in a way we didn't when it wasn't legal.

Mack's an old head who wants to turn back the clock.  Maybe he gets Burton some extra views, which is great.  But the sycophantic fawning interview questions that only focus on the positive and glaze over all the (many, so many) negatives Mack had on Texas resulting in our last decade plus in the wilderness, I can do without those.

You guys are so fucking disconnected from reality it's a joke.

The vast majority of Texas fans love Mack Brown. Not a lot of people disagree about him needing to move on, but a lot of people didn't think the way it went down was the right way, and in hindsight it definitely wasn't.

Mack Brown didn't fucking cause the last decade in the wilderness claiming he's the direct cause of it is beyond bogus. If anything it proved how dysfunctional and stupid the AD was post Dodds until CDC Eltife got in lockstep and serious about athletics.

It was an excellent interview from a guy that has been around CFB for a very very long time and has seen the landscape change. He can call whichever AD in the country he wants, not for a job, but just to talk and there are very very few people that can do that.

  • Popular Post

I'm guessing the plan was to retire in NC, near old friends UNTIL UNC fucking stole his cookies and hired the GOAT.  He can't be "Head Coach Emeritus" in that situation so the only other option is Austin.

the guy is transparent as fuck.  He's gonna start sticking his fucking nose in places it don't belong.  The dude just can't fucking let go and wants to be celebrated.  He will never be DKR.

If he and Sally wanted to retire in Austin fine.  Just move here and don't "announce" anything.  There is no upside in this and only downside.

Mack Brown(and Dodds) being a bitchass on the way out is separate from Powers/Patterson being total dipshits.  He drove the program to the edge of the ditch and then those 2 pushed it in.

Yes, because Mack’s skin is so thin it’s as transparent as cling wrap.

He’s the second most successful coach in our program’s history, and for that I’ll always thank him. But he’s a petty old man that needs to have zero involvement with this program absent an honorary applause at a random half time.

And, if he insists on playing his timeless woe is me card, guys like Bobby shouldn’t give him a platform, no matter the clicks.

If I am in Austin and find myself near Mack Brown, I will have zero problem telling him he's a POS that stole money from the University of Texas.  And that he should get his butter teeth fixed.

You mean by running out the clock on Saban and then having his lawyer threaten to sue us??  Oh and telling the players they should decommit?  Yea a lot of us didn’t like how that went down

Could we just pay him a small pittance to fire Rodney Terry?

Of course Mack did great things here. The problem is that he put on a fucking masterclass on how to obliterate your legacy in his last four years here. And he took it to an almost comical level in the final weeks/days. There is a reason he's been gone this long and there is still nothing here with his name on it (that I know of), much less a statue.

Having Mack around the program seems like a bad idea. I can just feel it in my bones. It's like FSU bringing back Jimbo. What can go wrong?

Let's not ruin the good vibes we currently have around the program.

He actively shit on Texas on the way out, trying to prevent good coaches to come here and told recruits to go somewhere else, all to make himself look better. Do you really think he wants Sark to win a couple of national championships and make him look worse?

The divorce similarity above is perfect. 10 years after you caught your wife cheating on you and you divorced her,she actively lied to your kids to put you in a bad light, did everything in her power to sabotage any relationship you had, you're now going to let her move into your house under the guise of being able to give your current wife advice since she won Aledo mom of the year in 2005?
