Didn’t Mack tell us Herman was a great coach? We don’t need his advice anymore.

There is only one side of this that WILL be petty and it WONT be the University of Texas. He fucked it up on the way out and then we doubled down on stupid and are just back to square. Mack needs to move on and so do we.

There's no "let" to it. Literally nothing we can do to keep him out of Austin and there are plenty of people connected to the program who genuinely like him and want him around. Can't be helped or stopped. Same for the bitch ex-wives. We married them and had kids with them; they're ours to deal with whether we like it or not.

If CDC and Sark are smart they let it all go in one ear and out the other when Mack is saying anything that isn't supportive praise. And if they're dumb enough to let Mack's thin-skinned defensiveness and self-mythologizing then we're screwed anyway.

Better to set it up to where he can get his massive, easily-wounded ego stroked in a way that's healthy for the program and not leave it to him having to make his own way to get attention and reassuring pats. Shouldn't be too hard to make it work out for everyone involved so long as everyone behaves.

I can't wait for the local dipshit media jocksniffers to interview him and ask his opinion on shit that will go viral and CDC, Sark, et al will have to deal with.

More Jack, Mack and McConaghey too.  yay!

And to your point, the guy is 72 years old and after getting his ass handed to him by JMU, popped off saying he was going to quit and THEN had to walk it back because "he didn't think it would get out because it was in the locker room".  He is 72 and been a head coach for more than half his adult life and he didn't know?  This is not a person you want around a program anymore.  He has no ability or humility to be like David McWilliams.

You can’t keep him out of Austin and you can’t keep him from going back to kissing ass to people that are connected to the program, but UT can damn sure keep his ass away from the school and football team.

Give him a job selling orange slices outside the stadium. Way outside the stadium.

You can’t point out one thing with Mack being around the program that will lead to better recruits or more wins. Not one thing. He did his thing well, but at this point he hurts the program.

Just started the interview. Amazing that the first words out of Mack's mouth are about how college football is such a mess right now, right after he was fired and replaced by BB. I bet if he was playing Wednesday he wouldn't think it's a mess.

College football is absolutely a fucking mess right now. Uncapped pay with unlimited free agency is ruining the sport.

I'm guessing the plan was to retire in NC, near old friends UNTIL UNC fucking stole his cookies and hired the GOAT.  He can't be "Head Coach Emeritus" in that situation so the only other option is Austin.

the guy is transparent as fuck.  He's gonna start sticking his fucking nose in places it don't belong.  The dude just can't fucking let go and wants to be celebrated.  He will never be DKR.

If he and Sally wanted to retire in Austin fine.  Just move here and don't "announce" anything.  There is no upside in this and only downside.

So I have a buddy who owns a company here in town. Mack and Sally were a customer before he left for NC, but my buddy only dealt with Sally and didn't know who the fuck they were because the paper work was always Sally and William Brown. My buddy isn't a UT guy, so the name Sally Brown just never stood out to him. They left for NC and no longer needed the service, so they cancelled.

My buddy gets a call a few weeks ago and Sally tells him they are moving back and would like to work with my buddy's company again. My buddy offloads the call to a guy that works for him, and this guy also doesn't recognize the names William and Sally Brown. Sally tells this guy they are moving back from a stint at UNC, and he replies that it's too bad they won't be around chapel hill for the Belichick era. Sally pauses for a second and says....."yeah that's who replaced my husband." At that point, the light bulb turned on. lulz.

What’s Mack’s current/living base right now? Maybe Rowling and that’s it? Eltife knows better. CDC sure as hell does too.

I wouldn’t offer him shit. If half of the shit the surly mods said about him are true, he shouldn’t be permitted 500 yards from the University.

As I’ve theorized before, he’s a greedy fuck that still needs money somehow. Hopefully FOX/Big Ten gives him something so we don’t have to see him on ESPN all the time.

ESPN "Cam Ward goes out in style" - uh being on the losing end and on the bench?

Love Bobby, and I love you too, @immamac, but count me in on Team Bob here.

Mack needs to go find something else to fuck up. We JUST got our program straightened after he did to it what we did to ShaggyBevo -- shit all over it on the way out.

So what if he won a national title? Scat porn is the more recent memory and more relevant to our current situation.

You guys are so fucking disconnected from reality it's a joke.

The vast majority of Texas fans love Mack Brown. Not a lot of people disagree about him needing to move on, but a lot of people didn't think the way it went down was the right way, and in hindsight it definitely wasn't.

Mack Brown didn't fucking cause the last decade in the wilderness claiming he's the direct cause of it is beyond bogus. If anything it proved how dysfunctional and stupid the AD was post Dodds until CDC Eltife got in lockstep and serious about athletics.

It was an excellent interview from a guy that has been around CFB for a very very long time and has seen the landscape change. He can call whichever AD in the country he wants, not for a job, but just to talk and there are very very few people that can do that.

Mack is whining about NIL. He’s gonna fuck it up for us by pointing out that donations to the Texas One Fund are tax deductible while some other schools don’t have the same opportunities for their NIL collectives to be tax deductible. Mack is a petty bitch like that and I wouldn’t be surprised if he started pointing out how the way we do certain things is unfair to other schools. But he’ll act like a martyr doing this by saying he really cares about fairness for the kids.

Lists a half dozen bad behaviors that Brown will certainly engage in, says it should all work out as long as everyone behaves.

Unclear what FUPM brings to UT in the plus column now. Sure he can give handies and slurp nursing home BMDs but he is a vindictive shit that can also drop turds in a punch bowl.  He can stay on the golf course but yes he can plant poison ivy wherever he is with little to no upside for UT.

The only thing that was surprising about that interview was Mack finally admitting he should have played Garrett Gilbert more.

he was working for ESPN and also trying to find his way back to UNC.  There is nothing left for him now except to figure out how to be the new revered DKR at Texas which was his original goal, until the walls fell in because he quit.  That is what this is all about.

(Knock on wood) If Mack starts hovering around Sark’s program trying to give his unsolicited advice on how to win one championship in 15 years, I wouldn’t blame Sark one bit for bolting to the NFL the first chance he got to get away from mackbrown-texasfootball.com because what the fuck man.

Man, that was a hugely aggy thing to include his fucking name in the URL.

Just another indicator that Mack saw himself as "bigger than the program."  Of course he would never admit it; he was careful to say the right things when pouring poison in your ears and complaining in a passive aggressive way about the unfair expectations and how darn hard it was to be the coach at Texas.  But if you gave him truth serum, I guaran-damn-tee he would admit that he thinks he could coach circles around DKR, Sark, everyone else, that his name should be added to the stadium, and he should have an office next to Sark to provide "advice."

Mack Brown is a narcissist who cares only  about Mack Brown.

Mack is the scorpion in the fable "The Scorpion and the Frog"  but Mack somehow manages to make it out of the river alive after stinging the Frog.

there is enough infrastructure in place to where Mack could have an ambassador type role and not interfere with Sark.  The caveat being I think CDC and Deloss are close.  Emissary Mack may be good for the program though I still think he’s a thin skinned jerk

I'm disappointed to read anyone supports Mack returning to the program in any form besides a fan who purchases his own ticket. As many have said, you should always measure risk vs. reward. The reward....maybe he helps NIL fund raising and completely reverses his personality from who we learned he was and adds positive morale? The risks are too numerous to count, the chief being that his ego can't stand someone else looking better than him and he will passive aggressively (or just aggressively behind the scenes) do little things to start the rot on Sark's program. Super worst case, he pulls the Jay Leno in hopes that Texas asks him to coach again after Sark. Mack was outstanding at recruiting from 1999-2008 and the conservative coaching style was enough for superior talent to win 10 games a year. His inability to beat OU created the national perception that Texas is a paper tiger that persists today and will until we win another championship and beat top 10 teams on the reg. He gets way too much credit for the one national championship, when his contributions were 1) being talked into recruiting VY when he initially didn't want to, and 2) "letting Vince be Vince" aka not fucking it up. VY was the outlier. Mack got lazy in recruiting or the rest of the world caught up, and the wheels fell off. Then he torched the place on his way out the door. He wasn't a martyr for whom fans should feel sorry. He probably made over $30m while coaching and we paid him $3.25m when we fired him. We owe him nothing.

Of course Mack did great things here. The problem is that he put on a fucking masterclass on how to obliterate your legacy in his last four years here. And he took it to an almost comical level in the final weeks/days. I wouldn't want Mack to do anything for UT in an official capacity. Didn't he just purchase a mansion on the Carolina coast? He should stay there and sabotage UNC's program.
