I'm not even fucking kidding. The quickest way to lose my support is to bring this fucking cunt back into the fold and act as if everything he did on the way out is anything short of treacherous.

He has so many axes to grind. I don't want him anywhere near this program.

Is he really in touch with them in Facebook, or is he killing himself sending friend requests in Florida?

Just FYI, there isn't much of it here, but on other boards they're tossing around things like bringing him on as an offensive analyst, naming him Director of Recruiting, etc. And that's probably what Mack is after. For the few of you going hurr durr what's the big deal about having Mack around.

Good point, I didn't consider the danger of random anonymous Internet posters giving Mack Brown a coaching position. I had the idiotic idea that CDC, the regents, and Sark ran the show. I forgot about LonghornGrandpa and HookEm833.

Hey dumbass. People don't fucking forget what happened. No matter what your "what's the big deal, hurr durr this dipshit that burned this bridge means well and isn't a total idiot returning with his hat in hand after failing miserably elsewhere and proving us all correct" tries to tell us.

Oh, well, if people on message boards are saying it, we're doomed.

Those are just your garden variety idiots opining as is their wont. As others have mentioned, I doubt CDC, Sark or Hartzell would allow such to pass.

Maybe wait for the press release.

aggy should hire him.

That says we hired him? Then, and only then, will we be allowed to talk about it? I'm not sure at this point what point y'all are trying to make.

Maybe quit stanning for a total dipshit.

Please. I don't want him to have anything to do with Texas football for all of the reasons listed here. I also know that he's utterly powerless now with regard to the football program.

How many of these guys initially said ok to mike stoops as lb coach before being told to gtfohwts?

Great, we're all in agreement.

Rasputin was just hanging around to support in an unofficial capacity.

Are yall forgetting that Mack stayed in Austin and was even given some bullshit title for 4+ years after he was fired? He had no power then and will have even less now. He's an old man who wants to be patted on the head.

Mack: “I want to get involved with the game. I want to stay involved with the game. I love the coaches.”

It sure sounds like he wants to become part of what Sark is building here if ESPN/Fox doesn’t return his calls to be on TV.

Thankfully, that's not really up to him.

"The game" to Mack means golf, fundraisers, luncheons, etc. He will have zero say over football.

Charlie would've been a success if it wasn't for Mack's secret meddling during those years!

Mack Brown, Head Coach in Waiting *wink wink*

The first thing Mack wants to do he said when he gets back to Austin is to socialize again with old pals Dodds and "CDC." It's pretty plain to see what is going on. Mack is moving back to Austin because he is totally irrelevant in Chappel Hill. He was not only fired, but was replaced by someone that is totally is sucking the oxygen out of that place.

Mack's ego can't stand that. He is coming back to Austin to try and restore his relevance again in some way, with people that can help him do that. This ends in either he gets some kind of cushy deal with UT, or he goes back to television, which most likely means at ESPN. Maybe he would try to do both.

I listen to Mack talk about how DKR was 72 when Mack got here and now, I am 73. Royal retired from coaching at the ripe old age of 52. He served as AD for four years and that was pretty much it. Royal didn't like what was going on with college football then. He sure wouldn't like it now.

All Mack cares about is staying in the spotlight, no matter how or where. He proved that in the past and is doing so now.

Well since this thread has become super fun lately, who do you think would come back to Austin first: Simms or Applewhite? Show your work for extra credit.

Walter Harvey : You go out, wave your cap, give the people a thrill.

Jimmy Dugan : Why don't you get an organ grinder, I could do a little dance.

Walter Harvey : If your knees are up for it, go ahead.

I think there's a lot of truth to that but I also think it's true that he has a lot of genuine friends and family here.   Doesn't he still have at least one kid and maybe grandkids here?

My post and yours don't counteract each other. There is still a lot of truth in the old saying you can kill two birds with one stone, or in this case one move back to a prior location.

There is nothing anyone can do to stop Mack Brown from (a) having a voice many will listen to and (b) staying closer to the program than basically anyone else not current working/playing for the program can. Those are set in stone. We can pout and bitch and relitigate 2010-2012 (which we all agree on) but neither (a) nor (b) are changing.

He's coming. CDC can't stop it. Sark can't stop it. No poster of any connection or influence can even be a mild speedbump to it.

I’ll say this. Mack does nothing. Y accident and he is a smooth talker.  Maybe something is in the works.  Probably not. Maybe he just wants to come home

I’ll reiterate. Fuck Mack. Stay away from the program and enjoy your time at the country club. I’ll always be thankful for us winning a championship in spite of him

He shares this trait with Lance Armstrong.  We should put them on an island with a fake TV studio so they can think they are broadcasting to a world full of people who care.

The answer is Applewhite.  Simms isn't giving up that cushy job with NBC.   Major is in Mobile, AL at South Alabama.

What the fuck are all of you going on about with Mack being in any official capacity involved with UT athletics?

Mack is a media monster. This is a media play, which is why the interview was great and why him coming back is good.

I don't give a shit about all the Mack hate, but some of you are acting like there's not money to be made and a complete void to be filled with Texas media that LHN left and Bobby and his team have somewhat filled. Mack isn't an idiot, he could ask anyone he wanted on a show and bullshit for an hour or 2 a day and focus on CFB centered around Texas and 200k+ daily listeners would tune in automatically.

He's not invited to come do AMA on surly or to be a regular podcast guest or anything else, but to say that it's net negative to have a guy who's an eyeball and earhole magnet come back and home base in Austin is a completely naive and moronic take.

Wow. Mack is a media monster= NARCISSISTIC SOCIOPATH. What part of his last 3 years here are you amnestic to? How about his scorched earth on to his way out? Please review the history.

It is indeed.

I keep thinking about listening to that interview. But every time I think about it I remember I don’t give two shits what that guy has to say.

Tonight, Bobby Burton was point blank asked about whether Mack might be added to the Texas football program.  Bobby said no way... doesn't make sense to add a 800lb gorilla. 😋

Bobby said he expects a TV opportunity will be Mack's next career move if available.  If not, Bobby speculated that maybe an emeritus role for fund raising might be a possibility for Mack at Texas???

I don’t know that Royal would hate the game now. Royal was all about his players taking advantage of their opportunities to succeed in later life, therefore his emphasis on academic support and disdain for players selling themselves to shitty schools for short term payouts. He might like this era where a player can start to leverage his abilities into a real start in life, to go with an education.
