There is lot of chatter on vatnik channels and Twitter about the big counteroffensive launching incredibly soon.

I am fairly credulous at this one. I don’t think Ben Wallace would have announced “yeah, these missiles are already there” and tipped the AFU hand to prep countermeasures unless it was so close as to not matter. They’ll be confirming the existence via impact craters soon.

BREAKING:Panic erupting on Russian Telegram after multiple reports of increased Ukrainian troop concentrations today in BeryslavThere is reportedly a large number of Ukrainian small boats gathering on the Dniepr river in the region & amphibious vehicles have been spotted too

Crimea is Ukraine. So yeah.

Following up on the notion of Crimea striking a portion of the bridge that is "theirs" it just occurred to me...Do you think they give a fuck? They blew it up once, you think now they're worried about blowing it up again because it's "Russian territory?"

Yes, because according to the article, they gave assurances to UK that they wouldn't hit Russian territory using the Storm Shadows. It's probably moot anyway if the recognized territory of Ukraine crosses through the bridge, which according to this, it does:

Interesting note in the CNN article:

A Western official told CNN that the UK has received assurances from the Ukrainian government that these missiles will be used only within Ukrainian sovereign territory and not inside Russia

I guess there might be a Ukrainian side of the bridge they can hit? It also removes the possibility of hitting most of the airfields mapped here:

Not sure how far before the Crimea portion the bridge is in international or Russian waters, but at least part of it is occupied Ukrainian water, so yeah, its in play.  That said, I agree that the storm shadow could also be extremely effective against air bases in Crimea, and the naval base.  I'm not sure how many were given to the Ukrainians, but just a few in critical areas could make a huge difference for them.

Major traffic jams this afternoon on road leading from Mariupol to Novoazovsk. The Russians who have been resettled in Mariupol are afraid of a Ukrainian counteroffensive and are fleeing back to Russia.Panic in the air…

It's been 8 hours since Britain promised Ukraine the #StormShadow cruise missiles, but Putin still hasn't ushered the Nuclear Armageddon.I'm disappointed.

I wonder how big of a dumbass you have to be to get yourself resettled in Mariupol, shit. Draft-dodging and the like is one thing but it’s ordinarily not hard to wriggle out of Russian bureaucratic directives. A bunch of them likely went voluntarily, I know occupation authorities gave good salaries to teachers, civil servants, etc.

It was reported that Russia was moving people from bumfuck nowhere Russia and settling them in occupied Ukraine.

Really pleased that this article is just out in @TheAtlantic Its coauthored by myself and @edwardstrngr and makes the case that F-16s can be given to Ukraine more quickly than most say and that they can make a significant difference in the war. https://t.co/eC40s3zXgM

I enjoyed his response to this moron.

Thats true--I mean you never know when the Canadian and Mexican Air Forces might attack https://t.co/GPrXzIlc0i

Personally, I do not believe the counteroffensive has begun, but Russians are understandably jittery and sensitive to any movements by the Ukrainian military and ready to make massive 'gestures of goodwill' through chaotic retreats.

IMHO, what’s happening now near Bakhmut is not The Big One We All Wait For.More likely a limited operation to secure Ukrainian ground lines of communications running into the city. However, let’s wait and see. There’s nothing that can surprise me at this point.
Long story short, Z-channels have crapped their pants altogether from the slightest perspective of a Ukrainian offensive.Pathetic.

In the Kherson region, 🇷🇺 army is ripping up 🇺🇦 passports at checkpoints. In this way, occupation administrations want to speed up 🇷🇺passport certification in the occupied territories. They make life unbearable without the Russian document. Imagine, you can’t even travel outside…

I don't think this is the counteroffensive at all, but it's hilarious that they're panicking over it. This just gives us an idea of what the reaction will be when a deep push does happen.

Looks like a lot of fun to have incoming:

Old Man Good Job GIF

To put it in perspective, we don't know if it's started, but Russian social media is convinced that it is, mirrors Kherson/Kharkiv.  The Russians actually on the front line would know.

I don’t know if there are breakthroughs and all that. I’m not there. But Russians’ behaviour on public channels is very similar to what was happening during successful regroupings from Kherson and Kharkiv. They never panicked unless they had a reason to. They have a lot of eyes…

They have a lot of eyes in the field, the military reporters, soldiers. I take it all with a grain of salt but I also don’t see a good reason for them to spread negativity without a good reason.

Relevant because Turkey. Erdogan is in serious trouble. Also, one of the opposition candidates dropped out which increases the possibility that Kilicdaroglu could get 50% and avoid a runoff:

"Erdogan may lose the presidential election already in the first round" - Reuters According to the polls, the current president of Turkey, Erdogan, is supported by 43.7%, and his main rival Kemal Kilicdaroglu - 49.3%.

This is impossible, I was told by people in this thread that he was a dictator and had no chance of losing an election.

I mean, he still might not turn it over if he loses and become dictator in truth, but the fact is that these elections were important to his appearance of not being a dictator and as a result his blustering on Sweden/NATO was not going away until after. That seems like a completely reasonable point of view that many seemed to think was…I’ll just say ‘incorrect’ and leave it at that.

RSOI is Reception, Staging, Onward Movement & Integration. When units enter a combat zone, they are “received” in country, “staged” to move forward, then “moved” to the combat area, and then integrated into a larger unit. How is this related to Ukraine, you ask? 2/

When finished in, say, Germany, Poland, Estonia or other countries, they travel back to Ukraine & are “received” & “staged” with other types of partner units. Once all together, they “move” forward, closer to the front lines, & are “integrated” into even larger units. 4/

I once heard a Sergeant Major say “RSOI is converting piles of puzzle pieces into combat ready units.”Spot on. BTW, these “puzzle pieces” are being put together all across the 400+ km front lines, at points of Ukrainian general’s plan. 6/
